You're crying real tears because you know a life without garbage delivery pizza is a sad life, and the longing in the song is real. Sad songs about pizza could be sponsored by Dominos every week, but their marketing team just doesn't understand.
Wow; that plosive rejection is impressive! Also, nice warmth without being boomy, muddy, or boxy. Pretty difficult to pull off, so kudos to JZ Mics for nailing it. The articulation frequencies balance out nicely, too. Perfectly intelligible without being too harsh, though as you said, the top end is a little sharp.
The entire review, I just kept thinking, “Dang, Austrian Audio makes a strong argument with their OC18 at $800 USD.” Great video as always!! I definitely agree with your assessment. Compared to the smooth KSM32, the additional articulation of the V67 is nice, but the sharp transients can be dangerous on the wrong source. At $1200 USD with no switches and minimal shock absorption, the V67 has a lot of competition. Still, I find the matte gray color and soap-bar design strangely alluring! Cheers!
The JZ is a bit thinner and a bit sibilant than the U67 but very very close in my opinion. Even through the garbage compression RU-vid subjects us to. Is it worth +$1k price tag. Well if marketed as a U67 at a $6k savings, perhaps but... ..it's a latvian mic that cost about $100 to make. That's a pretty good margin wouldn't you say? I came for the music and you didn't disappoint. Thank you!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on it, I really appreciate it. I'm not sure the cost to manufacture, but if you're correct I'd say a 500% margin if bought at $600 is pretty good. 1100% if bought at $1200. That would be a very profitable business if accurate.
Wow. You absolutely killed this review, the music test was really great! While it's not a 67, it is a really interesting and warm sound. The resonance in the build quality is a bit of a bummer. I definitely found this mic very listenable on your podcast and not overly harsh, so I bet while the high end is not the smoothest, it is probably very manageable.
Hey, I've been watching you for a view Years now and you really inspired me when it comes to audio and helped me with a lot of decisions, thanks for that forst of all, love your content. I would love a review of the Sony C80. I'm about to get one for myself and do a review on it and I was surprised how little content there is about it on RU-vid. :)
Hands down the best singing I've heard from you, dude. If that had picked up from the angelic guitar to a more energetic guitar with drums. Bandrew it's time to get the band back together!!
How does Neumann do it? The 87/67 capsule and electronics are always - ALWAYS - perfection. That very slight midrange rasp on every other mic, Shure, Austrian Audio, every one of them, is magically gone on the Neumanns. I hope your many fans can appreciate that. It’s not just expensive, cachet, legend, etc…. No, the advantage is real. Combine half century reliability and the cost starts to make real sense.
Once you hear it back to back with other options available in an A/B comparison I think the reason people love the U87/67 becomes apparent. The biggest pushback Is the premium you pay for them and whether or not it's worth it.
Apart from the years of experience maybe Neumann QA their electronics hard and throw away those that don't make the grade. That would push their costs up. Whereas most mass produced products seem to be "test it yourself, good luck" these days.
@@45KevinR The electronics is a breeze by comparison with the capsule. The quality control there is very, very high. They have developed that capsule to perfection. I consider my Neumanns not merely as excellent tools but also family heirlooms. One is 73 years old!
I quite like it, definitely competitive with the KSM32 which is our fave in the 600-ish range but I feel it needs something more to justify the MSRP. At $600 it seems reasonable but I dunno if we could get it at that price.
Bingo. It can't hope to replace a U67 by any stretch and is pretty basic compared to a lot of $1000+ mics, but could make for a decent mic at $500-700.
V67 sounds great in the mids - they sound huge and very natural. It's a bit too bright but that brightness sounds good. That air extension is sounding quite silky. The shape and lack of usual shockmount system is a bit disappointing though
Thank you for the great review! I was interested in this microphone, so I'm grateful! I'm also interested in Jz Microphones' Amethyst, so if you have a chance, please review it! Thank you for always providing great information! I would like to express my gratitude to the Japanese voice actors!
I'm not sure if this is transformerless, seems so with only 6dB of self-noise? Sounds clear and full on your voice and appealingly bright on the acoustic guitar. Very grainy and thin on those amplified single coils, though - maybe the mic position could have sounded better off-axis or at the edge of the cone, but you seem to be well-aware of that already given past results with other mics.
Don't care for the Pewter metal look. I thought for the price the Rode NT1 sounded just as good. Would like to see a United Studio Technologies UT Twin87 review.
Dobalee DID. I was looking at these mics for a hot min for an acquaintance of mine in Europe that was looking for a good vocal mic. Like the austrian audio, not a fan of the design. Its just my preference but i just think the rounded rectangular prism is meh. Lol. Also… solid state 67? Ermmmm 87? It sounded better than the 11 and the austrian audio to my earholes. Was in the ballpark with the 87ai and the 67 reissue impressive. Edit. Thats what i get for listening in my car and not realizing the eq is on. Listening back in the studio, i feel differently lol.
I hadn't intended to watch every second as these are out of my league and pocket, but you made me Bandrew. How do you do it? "Listen to the sound of my voice..." So you've a U67 as well as the U87... 😮😮🤷♂️😂
Can you review the Razer Kraken V3 Pro? It's the biggest waste of $200. The microphone quality is garbage by headphone standards, and the right earphone fell off after I dropped it on the carpet ONCE. Same thing happened with the left earphone when I dropped it again. This isn't an exaggeration.
Thanks man. I actually just discussed this on the podcast here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SZvWwPQsEcI.htmlsi=rO07JmgmbZAbEJpO&t=195
In a vacuum, the Vintage 67 sounds very nice, very natural. But, almost every time you get to the comparison section for any LDC mic, I'm always blown away just how good the Rode NT1 sounds, much less for $250.
What affordable sound absorbing material would you recommend to help with treating a room? I've looked at a few acoustic panels and want to treat my small room for a better recording experience with my condenser microphones. Thanks!
I think it's called Owens Corning 703, but Booth Junkie made a video about making panels which would likely be the cheapest way to get good sound absorption: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-z5ApIWbjvcA.html
I don't miss pizza either, and I don't miss beer, candy, pasta, bread, chocolate, cookies, noodles, potatoes and cigarettes at all. Never think about them, not all the time at all.
Hello, You are doing a lot of efforts and you have a great dedication.. But, for some reason, everytime I watch your videos to get info about any mic, I found that you sound the same with any mic you are using, I mean almost no difference when you do comparisons even if you change mics,😔 Might be me, but it's not the same with other mic reviewers on RU-vid, when they do mic comparisons, there's obvious differences that help listeners to decide. With you it's almost the same, might be the way you process your settings, not sure. Or it might be me 🤔😞
The top end of the JZ67 is pretty seriously disappointing for a $1200 mic, kind of harsh and crappy like a really low end budget microphone. Also the amount of resonance is pretty awful and embarrassing for the price. While I'm not at all a fan of the TLM103 I think the top end of the 103 is nicer than the 103 which again for the $1200 proce tag makes the JZ67 a definite no.
