Great, thorough and honest review as always Troy. Being retired and on social insecurity😁 I really appreciate the videos on budget RCs. Many thanks. Best to you and the family.
Great analysis Troy! I wonder if their may be plastic control arms that fit on this from another vehicle they may have? I agree 100% on the 1/16 car or other renditions of it. You just can’t beat it! Take care my friend!👊🏼😎
Btw I have this truck ...not good at all ..an a pain to work on...gotta shim the diffs right outta the box....couldn't get 2 separate center diffs open to change the fluid,,( too much loctite) bolts snapped .I bought hosims upgrade metal center diff/ motor housing ( it has a fan included on it)...also bought a pack of those long bolts that hold the a-arms on.....!
what i see is a streched out x-07 liked the idea of xk MKing 1/8th scale i know its closer to 1/10 but its way over priced & obviousely not on par designe wise looks nice but just cant cut it🤷♂️ for this $$ can get 3s arrma thats gona take abuse
Thank you Troy, excellent video and review. I think I know the answer to this, but I thought I would ask. What do you think about aluminum control arms on a Short course truck, light bashing, no big jumps, or aerobatics, not a race truck, because I have no tracks near me?
I wonder if it would still have the same breakage if you were not landing on those hard stepping stones so much but only jumped on thick grass. I plan to jump mine on St Augustine grass that's very bouncy, ordered it last week and get it in 2 days. I'm expecting to go over 10ft high and up to 50ft long with my current yard jump. I use the street for a runway then jump my front lawn. You won't catch me bashing this at a skate park! 😂
Yeah...it will have the same problem, unfortunately. You will get away with a little more due to a softer landing...but if you are really going to send it like you say, be prepared to buy some parts.
Troy you’re the man bro.. I’ve been really thinking about getting this rig. I have enough expensive RC’s. I don’t mind venturing to the budget cars. Thank you again for your insight. Keep up the good work you have a new subscriber brother.
Considering the Arrma Typhon S3 is in the same weight class and also has metal control arms with plastic shocks, how does it have such high ratings comparatively?
Mostly finished on my Reve D RDX build. The good - super nice quality, well built, super tight tolerances, somewhat ok instructions. The bad, poor battery holder design for longer batteries, rear esc mount is cheesy feeling, clipping parts from the plastic trees was awkward at times.
Great starter. but for the hobbyist? It would be a major disappointment I think. Lots of fun to start, then Broken. Seems to me, that is typical of the cheaper toys, except for the RARE exception. great overview and thanks for the warnings. lol
Ha! Happy to help. There is a little hit or miss, but as long as I can get the parts, I am usually happy. It has been really interesting to watch these brands evolve over the last few years. Some of the basics they offer are sometimes really impressive, even vs the bigger names. I'm testing another one now - video out next week hopefully. Really surprised me!
Don't even get me started on Traxxas. Not a big fan. The Xmax is an awesome rig though. But you're right!!! if the Big companies charge Big prices. They better produce good rigs. In my opinion. :)@@allyhellkiller5535
Shame to see HOSIM taking a big step backwards after they already had a couple of 1:10 scale (3S capable) models of similar design with plastic control arms & towers. I own (3) 9125’s and an X-07. It’s a hard pass on this one.
When I first saw the blue sparkle, I had a similar reaction. At first I thought Aluminum, but it looks clear coated and nobody goes that far one something this budget. Is it actually blue powder coat over a mystery metal or do you think the arms are AL? The tires actually remind me of Rustler 4x4 tires, they're pretty distinctive once you see it. I'm with you, there are other better options for a beginner basher after seeing this.
Not sure what metal they are - mystery metal is as good a description as I have. Really too bad, as it was a blast otherwise. Could be a real winner with a few small changes.
@@RoadsideRC cool ty will do , i have been reseaching for past few days to figure out what i will buy i narrowed it down to the redcat, arrma typhon v3 3s, or the arrma big rock v3, or traxxas slash 4x4 vxl its a hard choice they all seem good lol
Interesting. You clearly don't know me, and don't know my channel. It was $200 when I bought it. That was many months ago. Looks like it is $249 right now on Amazon...so the price has gone up since the video. That happens. You then also say I block folks. Odd. Literally have only ever blocked like 1-2 people. Maybe get to know the person you are attacking before you do so.
So you admitting that you got oh shit on the Internet like it just now happened and you got viewers on here talking about good job update that crap if you want some respect Shorty clearly you don’t know me
@rufusyoungblood9274 You seriously think every time a product changes prices, that I (1) follow them closely and know that it has changed, and (2) will go back through every video to edit them with the updated price? You clearly have no concept of how much work that is. I am sorry if $249 vs $200 means you can't afford this truck. If you actually watched the video, you would see I actually did not recommend anyone buy it anyway. How exactly have I offended you so much that you feel you need to personally attack me?
Look Shorty get out of your feelings now you wanna talk about what I can afford first of all you don’t even know where I live at I don’t play with fucking toys. I just seen the wack ass video on there and knew my son had had three of them already And none of my own $500 so get yourself together when you shoot a video you are advertising, whether you know that or not so if you don’t wanna feel no type away, then correct it or take it down simplest debt was so hard about that other people watches it and think that too The ones that can’t afford it so before you get in your feelings again and get this situation personal for real go get yourself together cause it ain’t that fucking serious for you to be trying to go back-and-forth. Simply told you that that’s not the price and my son don’t play with nothinganyway, so get yourself together or just stop advertising other people stuff
The link to the more affordable one has like 4 options. Thoughts? If you were to get just 1 of them... which one? Great review. I'm glad I watched. Saved me 100 bucks or so I'm thinking.
Unfortunately, this truck comes with an ESC & receiver 2-in-1 unit. Typically you replace the transmitter and receiver as one paired unit. Since the receiver is built-into the ESC, you will need to replace the ESC as well. You would be looking at a transmitter like this one: bit.ly/3NVwjil That transmitter comes with a receiver. Then you would also need a new ESC. One like this: bit.ly/3tG9gBn Hope this helps!
