Thank you for this informative video. The cheapest 240 AIO was chosen for comparison, which is completely legitimate, especially since RGB is included. But for just $ 7.49 more investment, you can buy a 240 AIO that offers superior performance, even if it doesn't offer RGB, it has a great design in return. It is the ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 240. On cheap water cooled builds, you can make up the difference by lapping the CPU and water block to gain around 7° (Celsius that is) and compete with more expensive rigs. I daily an i7 860 overclocked at 4,2GHz (2,8 stock) with a 47$ Enermax water cooler (120mm single fan) mid to low 30's idle temps and mid 80's under stress test. If one is willing to risk delidding and lapping his CPU, it's possible to obtain good results with a dirt cheap AIO.

I had to apply my own thermal paste both times. Now I make it a point, to apply my own, even if I have to remove the pre-applied paste, even if it was applied from the factory.

I wish the AIOs would point out if they use the factory mother board plastic clips(2points of contact, via tension), or if it was a 4 bolt directly to the motherboard. Ever since my Phenom computer lost its Air cooler (the plastic clip broke) I have not liked that 'hold on tight with tension' design.

But you missed 1 vital question here. As it it twice the price is it twice as good? This is where the budget AIO coolers come into there own. No they are not AS good but when you consider the cost/performance they wipe the floor with the costly products. No they are not as good but they do do a proficient job. I have that uphere cooler, or maybe an earlier version from a couple of years ago, and I gotta say it's not impressive. It keeps a Ryzen 2600 in the low 70s when overclocked while remaining virtually silent, but when I upgraded to a 3800x I realized it performed roughly equivalent to the stock wraith prism cooler. It did so at much lower noise levels, yes, but increased fan speed did not improve performance so it was pointless to introduce the noise. It doesn't seem to be able to transfer heat from the CPU to the radiator well at all. I took the cold plate off and it looked decent, so I think the issue must be a very, very weak pump. It wasn't the worst purchase, but I can't really say I recommend it for just about anyone. If you want a cheap AIO I think there are probably better budget options out there. Edit: I forgot to mention that I do currently have Corsair ML120 fans on the cooler, so if the included fans were the issue I would know. It's just not a great cooler.

Personally I think I’ve You’re gaming on a budget (I’d assume so If you’re buying the upHere AIO) just get a hyper 212. You can find one for about $40 and it has great performance. Just a word of advice for anyone seriously considering the upHere product. I recently bought fans from upHere and they work fine. They’re nothing special but they work. Not dissing the company just this product.

My Up Here has been going solid for a year now, no issues and keeps my 2600 nice and cool under load. I am mighty temped to get the Galahad however as it has such good reviews and a great company standing behind it.

Uphere makes some decent RGB case fan sets tho. Super quiet and they come with a remote control.

The quality of the pump and the fins design on the copper plate matters a lot. Also, the fans on NZXT are very good at cooling and their only problem is the noise. Vardar's are not really "badass" except the name :D I gave mine to my nephew because they are not very great. Badass fans for cooling with the lowest noise are the Gentle Typhoon and Noctua. I kept 3 of each in push-pull because I couldn't decide which is better.

240Mill master liquid lire from cooler master is 55$, no RGB, no LED's, but it keeps a 3930k overclocked to 4.5 at 60°c and thats after stressing under full load.

PSU's and water coolers are the two things I would never cheap out on. Both will take every component with them when they fail if you aren't lucky.

Maybe a follow up with 360mm AIO since the new CPUs are running hot and TDP expectations are wild. I was looking for ID Cooling 360mm since their 240mm did well with Steve on Nexus Gamers. Plus I like the styling of the ID Cooling 240 AIO, no RGB and pump has a soft white glow. I would love a NZXT but can't see myself spending $300 on it.

Dawid, don't be so rude towards the upHere AIO! It's clearly intended to be used for an intel i3 9100! Or maybe even a celeron...

I think I'd check the flatness of the block on the Uphere cooler. The fact that it's so far off the NZXT and how poorly it did with the Intel seems to indicate that it's not getting a good mount or interface with the IHS on the CPUs. You could try doing a mount with the block after spreading a thin layer of thermal compound evenly over the IHS and looking at the pattern after pulling it back off. Yeah, I know, it won't alter the fact that it's still not that great but it would explain if the block is just that poor in design (thermally speaking) or if the issue is from poor fitment.

I bought Deepcool Captain 240 which is pretty much exactly in the middle of the $ range and it is good - way better than one end, not quite as good as the other. Wow, who knew - you get what you pay for. (Usually!) I view Dawid’s niche as looking for the exceptions to the rule - and the humour of the really crap ones! Keep up the good work, I love your sense of humour!

I would suggest with the Kraken to grab some Noctua PWM fans. The NZXT fans work well but they're *loud*.

I have two X53 coolers in my rig. One is on a 9900K and the other is on a 2080TI via a G12 bracket. They are great coolers But, much of that depends on the cam software that you need to install. It defaults to Silent, and thats not great, and sometimes the settings don't persist after reboot. But, once you get the hang of their software and how to set your fan curves and lighting, they are pretty great.

Did they fix the pump issue with the X53? The X52 had a smaller pump impeller and died after a few months.

The artic freezer aio r one of the best performing liquid coolers on the market plus they r prices pretty cheap. The 240mm version is about £60 seen it as low as £49.99 and outperforms even the NZXT Aio. Arctic Freezer 34 Duo is only £38 and performs or even outperforms some 240mm aios like the Corsair H100v2 240mm Aio.
