It’s 5am and I just watched an 18 min video on pencils to mark up your Bible.. and I enjoyed it. 🤦🏻♂️ #nerd. I liked the island of misfit toy clip. 😂 I have used pencils..I might consider the twistable/hard to know what color #2. I always worry about the bleed/ghosting. Hate that. Might be helpful to go back and add a reminder to the test page so you can recall what test it was & what utensil/product was used. 👍🏻
I love bible journaling. I have 4 different bibles. 1 I take notes in only. 2 I do bible art journaling in, and 1 I only use for reading! Each has its own purpose and ALL allow me to connect with Yahweh, God, in a different way and build my relationship even deeper with him 💕.
I'm with you, I have a library of bibles and yet, according to some, I am going to hell because I use art in a special bible to strengthen my relationship with God by putting my heart into His word.
I’ve been watching / reading tons of videos and blog posts on bible marking and highlighting and tons of other people agree that colored pencils are the best. I love that they don’t bleed through and they’re nice and bright. Great video. Thanks for comparing all of those.
Great video. Some stuff out there is overpriced just because the label has a spiritual based name. Sad. It limits who journals and a video like this makes it accessible for all. God bless you.
Dude. You are great. "Extreme". I spit what I was drinking out of my mouth. (Now to clean up the computer.). Seriously loving your videos. I may or may not be binge watching. And I may or may not be making a wish list on Amazon. Side note: We did the Dave Ramsey debt free life about 12 years ago. So freeing.
haha, I coulda told you! After a lifetime (ages, decades) of Bible Marking with every conceivable fancy highlighter and marker.. I have become a complete fan of cheap ol' Crayola Colored Pencils. They are vibrant, pretty much erasable, cheap, and easy to buy everywhere. I get them at my local dollar store. I also pick up the generic version. Also, the Crayola Extreme Colors are good--not all the colors, but many of them. One more thing.... my dollar store also carries the LiquiMark colored pencils. Also utterly cheap. I like them even better than the Crayola pencils because they are a little bit creamier. When I discovered them and tested out a set, I went back into town and bought 3 more boxes of the LiquiMark pencils so I would have them on hand. None of these pencils bleed through, and believe me, I am a maniac on the page. I tried the Twistables since so many people raved about them, but I don't like them at all. I am a colored pencil Fan. Too bad I didn't figure that out about 40 years ago. I could have saved myself a lot of time and money.
I haven't seen any fading at all with them. I don't like to use regular lead pencils in my Bibles because they tend to smear and fade. But love the colored pencils!
I use Crayola, among others. Just watched because I was curious if other people's thoughts on them... I actually love my Twistable Coloured Pencils - just wish the colour range was wider. Can only get them in a pack of 12 near me. The coloured pencils in the #1 slot however - picked up a pack of 100 for €20 in my town. And each colour is different! Just started using them for the artwork already in my Inspire bible.
Loved the video! I would recommend that you write down on each page what crayons/colored pencils or all around writing utensils you used for future reference. This way you can do a flip through video once you’ve done enough testing, and actually remember what everything was. 😊
I got the twistable colored pencils, and one of the first things I did was to color on sticker paper and label the pencils. I was very surprised that the name of the colors was not printed on the pencils. Maybe I'm a little too heavy-handed to use them, so now they just sit around and come out when my cousins come over and I need a way to entertain them.
Great video, Jason! I use the Yoobi colored pencils. They are a little softer, and so do not stress the paper. I have used the Crayola twistables for some time, and, yes, they are not as vibrant.
I haven't found a wide margin Bible with the right combination of paper, font size, and ink that works for me. I can't read the font in those ESV journaling Bibles, so I ended up with the She Reads Truth CSB . The paper is super thin, subject to bleed through and ghosting, and the ink they used for printing smears when highlighting with some of my usual favorites. Soft-leaded artist grade colored pencils work for me. I buy them open-stock in 8 colors for my coding system, so the cost is not bad. .005 or .01 Pigma microns are still the best for minimal bleed through and ghosting. It's hard to find them in a set of multiple colors, but my daughter gave me her set of Pigma PN that work ok for notes. Sharpie Art pens work, too-- no bleed-through, but more ghosting than Pigma.
Jason, I *HAVE* a Master's degree, and I've been coloring for years, and I STILL can't figure out which color my twistables are! And it's crazy that they don't have a good red. Red is such a basic, core color. Hee! Not only helpful, but it was so good to laugh over this. Thanks for making this one! (I'm looking through your archives, trying to find if you ever did a video on why you don't like highlighters any more.)
Crayola Twistables are great on Bible paper and soooo practical for carrying around! I use Faber-Castell colored pencils in my Bibles all the time. Pastel colors, metallic colors, neon colors, regular colors, watercolor pencils... They are good for art journaling and highlighting text. For writing, it works too, but I prefer precision pens (Micron, Uni Pin, Staedtler, etc).
As long as you have 2 syllables in crayon we’re good. It’s when people start saying “cran” I start giving the side eye 👀😆 Never thought to use crayons in my Bible, thanks for testing that out for us!
Finally watched this. I already use colored pencils for the reasons that you shared. However, I don't use Crayola because I don't like... something, I don't know how to describe the difference in the colors. I'm colorblind so I have that going for me. Which means I have to limit the number of colors that I use and they need to be very unique from each other. I buy a little bit better quality pencil. Anyway, I like your demo of the twisted crayons and twisted pencils both for their colors and the sharpening thing. I may have to give them a try when I finish using what I'm using. Also, I must add that I am just astounded by the enormity of your denigration of the Holy Word by all things.... Eh, I can't think of any more big words so this is where my sarcasm ends. Keep up the great work! I think your videos are fantabulous.
Regarding the Twistable pencils: one of my boxes had the pencils marked with the color ON the pencil, the other box was just guessing. There were so many that were similar looking and it was frustrating. Inkjoy pens do not write well over the Twistable pencils. Yes, I have a tester Bible, but it has thin pages, not a journaling Bible. Great videos.
Jason! I had to pause to say I meant it in good fun! (Hence the bad down! Dog thingy🤣) pressing play now I'll be back later (Edition) / (Addition?) This is why for my inductive Bible study I use color pencils although not that brand. I have to see if I can get ones that don't need sharpening 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Very enjoyable as I do love the colored pencils to color with. Thank you for the demo so I didn't buy the twistable crayons. Crayola should pay attention to your comment about being able to determine the colors more easily.
Thank you for the demonstration! I have never done crayons in my Bible but I have used the colored pencils and Twistable pencils especially in group settings. They are a great way to bring a lot of colors in an inexpensive way. I still love my Prismacolors but they are not inexpensive like the crayolas.
Nice to find this video when Wal-Mart has their back to school specials on, I can get a 24 box of coloured pencils (we tend to call them pencil crayons because that is what it says on the bi-lingual english-french box) or 64 crayons for $Cdn 1.97 which works out pretty close to free in US dollars. And I treated myself with an interleaf ESV last month for my birthday that is still sitting there waiting for it's first mark, with this info. it's time is at hand.
Good morning from a fellow southern man in South Carolina. I wondered about crayons in marking your Bible. I think I will stick with the Micron pens for notes. I used to use the Sharpie Gel highlighters for highlighting. However, the broad tip makes keeping your accuracy impossible at times. Your video on the Sharpie highlighters with chiseled ends made me switch over. There is minimal bleed through and the good line symmetry keeps my OCD in check. I think bleed through and ghosting will always be a problem when making notes in your Bible. The only solution will be carrying a Bible made up of thick card-stock paper. Unfortunately, you will need a wheelbarrow to carry it. I enjoy your videos and look forward to your Bible note making reviews using new products.
Jason, I just glanced back through a couple of your color code and marker videos. I noticed you write with the pen/markers between your middle & ring finger. I tried that for fun. It was like trying to write with my left hand. LOL Again, great videos and humor that keeps me watching.
Thank you for testing all those, you just saved me from buying the twistable crayons. I use the twistable pencils, but I keep 'my colors' with my Bible so I don't have to struggle with the mystery colors.
I really like your videos, they are so helpful. have you ever tried to use Prismacolor premier colored pencils? They are a little on the pricey side but I was just interested to know if you had tried them.
Dude, yer a trip! ( I can tease you - I'm an old lady... ) Wish I had run into you a few years ago, always good to add fun people to my day! Micron pens are cheaper at Michael's... just saying!
I use crayola colored pencils. I love crayons. I use the Bic 4 color pen in my Bible. The red bleeds over time and my page looks pink. Yay! My colored pencils win!
man I wish you tested all the colors of each for us to see how they all swatch. Perhaps a more in-depth review in the future?(you can write the color name and color it. or use shapes for different colors)
There are highlights ALL through my Bible.. the wax based are the best so maybe crayons would work..but I can't do it..I have colored pencils..I have a whole tissue box full of all kinds of pens I use in my Bibles..and all this DOES help with memorization, I was shocked, but it does. Love my Bibles.. I have quite a few, just ordered another one. If you'd like a perfect-size for your hand King James, see Chicktracts channel, he provides a link..They're discontinued, this size (wonder why?) but they are the perfect size to take everywhere. $35 plus $2 if they add your name. Great!
I'm finding a problem with the pages getting crumpled, mangled with all the notes, etc. I don't know if it's the pen, the Bible or what. I know I'm not heavy handed when writing so that can't be causing the crumpling, curling, general destruction of the paper.
Man americans have it good.... those single column journaling bibles are $65+ over here. Ive seen them go on sale for $45 but thats still too hefty for me
i have diffrent Bibles the time has come with coronavirus for everyone to get a Bible and read it DAILY and pray aloud to God for help i am starting with my faithgirlz Bible its aimed at tweens but full Bible very good lovily little extras and a great range of others books in this christian seris including a great looking cookery book i want to get go for it seris aimed at treen girls but i highly reccomend to anybody
No red? I think it's because they banned red in schools. Teachers are no longer allowed to use red when correcting because it is too negative, or something like that....im not kidding either. I guess it was reds fault for kids beating up their teachers or something. I would love to say more, but I better not.
No joke!!! www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000FFT1KA/ref=cm_sw_r_fm_apa_i_eKvUEbCKM9P7A. These are the best in the whole world!! Try them out and you'll never use another brand. I haven't gone back.
