Stumbled upon this place by accident, and I can't wait to go back! Yaser's is an absolutely funny guy, and so wholesome. He offered me free xtra gravy and threw in some extra rice for me just because he thought I seemed really tired. Haha. ALso, don't forget to ask him for the meal of the day, it's usually not listed on the menu and you just need to ask for it upfront. Also fun fact: Yaser also donates a lot of food to the homeless around Hastings every weekend just out of goodwill, and I just hope he can expand his cafe's footprint and get all the blessings he deserves. And in case you're wondering, I got to know about him and everything else, through one of his regular customers, who couldn't stop complimenting him. God Bless You Yaser! I'll be back for a meal soon. :)
I didn’t know he donated food, such a beauty. And yes gotta make sure to ask for the daily specials. They’ve been unreal every single time. Cheers eh ❤
I discovered your channel a week ago and I've just been gobbling up your videos! I'm a life-long Vancouverite though I've been living in the fraser valley for the last few years. It has been very easy for me to take many things for granted growing up here, food being one of them. I really love how you guys appreciate "the simple things" in life like good food for a good price, enjoyed with good company. Look forward to seeing more regular content posted!
Wow! My dad was reading the newspaper this morning and while I was eating breakfast I noticed you guys on the front cover of the Vancouver Sun! I loved your quote: “Our channel is like if our friends and family were to come to Vancouver, what would we show them.” You guys truly embody the Vancouver spirit I can tell from your videos and story. Keep up the great work!!
@@reelininthebeersYou guys have to trek into Surrey and go to a place called Navraj Sweets and order their chole bhature (deep fried naan type bread with channa masala - chickpeas) for around $8 and also order an aloo or gobi paratha plate (potato or cauliflower stuffed roti) for around $10. And do a video about it.

Yaser is so kind, humble, and the sweetest man!! He’s a regular at the place I work at. He has always been so kind, like a very caring dad vibe!! When you mentioned that the food was like eating at your parent’s house. It was so accurate about how he is!! Like I mentioned above, he’s literally like a very caring father 🥺 I was surprised to see his face on my youtube feed 🥹 I’m glad you guys shed light on his cafe 🥹 I didn’t even know he had a cafe because he’s so humble. This man deserves the recognition really. Such a great man. With the rise of inflation and everything being expensive in Vancouver, it’s getting hard to find affordable places to eat. I really like how you guys include affordable and local businesses, it is super helpful. Keep up the good work, i’m looking forward to more videos 👍🏽🤟🏽👌🏽
I really wish you guys luck in your videos. Simple, chill and enjoyable to watch. Just cool, down to earth guys hanging out in my home city. Love it. Please keep doing y'all.
If you're one of the lucky people who stumble across Yasser's shop like me, you're in for a treat! Dining at Yasser's restaurant feels like going to eat at an old friends place. He makes you feel at home. His menu is simple- soup and sandwich plus his daily special. I ordered the chicken sandwich with beef and vegetable soup. It’s exactly what I wanted- wholesome home cooked meal made with love and tasted healthy and delicious. The real magic is Yasser's charming personality that makes you feel great just by being in his presence. He also shared that his shop was featured in Burnaby Monopoly. How cool! I can totally see why he has so many 5 star reviews. I haven't had so much fun eating alone in a long time!! It’s definitely a place I’d recommend to all my friends. Thank you Yasser for your kindness and hospitality, I will for sure be coming back again!
Fantastic review of a fabulous place. So glad you got to talk to Yaser on camera because his personality and hospitality is one of the reasons it's so great. I don't get there often, but it's on the same block as my dentist and I try to schedule my appointments after lunch so I can stop at Yaser's first :-) Make sure you ask what the special and the soups are when you arrive. There's at least three soups each day and they're all wonderful. If you order the soup and toast, you get 3 slices of toast, so at $3.50 it's a filling meal. Even though I don't get the toast (I avoid wheat), the size of bowl you get is definitely enough to fill you up. Last time I was there, he gave me more rice in my soup than normal because I wasn't having toast and he wanted it to be filling. He's just that kind of guy. It really does feel like home. And if you pay attention, you'll notice the regulars will bus their own tables and put their dishes in the back because it helps with the turnover, which is big. And if you get takeout, he packs it really well, so the soups won't leak. Stock up and take some to go after your meal. It reheats really well.
You guys are my favorite channel atm, especially since there really aren't many documenting food oriented stuff in Vancouver. Cheering for yall, keep going!!
Hell ya, thanks again for the rec. I've since been back about four times and every daily special he's had is bangin. The butter chicken is my favourite so far.
Another great video from you guys. Always the best music choices too. Certainty by Big Thief is a perfect song. Keep up the great work, your videos are always a highlight of the day when they drop
Every night from 7 pm, the Chinese hot food places in Yaohan center start discounting their dishes because they don't want to keep the food overnight. 3 for $25, when each would normally cost $15. Like full takeaway dishes of sweet sour pork or peking pork. It's quite popular and by the time it hits 7.45, the prices drop further. Go early for the best selection.
I used to eat at Yasers daily before I got terminated from Burnaby Hospital for experimental injection non compliance. Used to be $7 with soup back then.
Your vids are so fun! Concur with more vids about vancouver 🥰🥰 or anything really. Luv food vids but yr production and down to earth values are the best!!
Wow! That rice dish looked insane. Then the price came up and I legit said "what the fuck" out loud. Crazy. Going to go here this weekend! Thanks again guys.
I'm so happy to see your new video. I missed you guys but it's no easy task to find inexpensive quality food around here. But man, you've done it again! You guys are so awesome and I can hardly wait to try this place. I sent your link to my son who lifts a lot of weights and stuff, and I know he's going to love the protein content. I'm not sure which one of us will get there first. Great research guys. Although I can't help but feel a bit sorry for the owner of the diner who's giving such quality and quantity and probably not making enough of a profit margin to buy himself a day off even if he were replaceable. Anyways, keep up the great work!🎉
Haha that’s awesome. And ya I know what you’re saying but I think Yaser is really just happy to make people food and build a nice community feeling around his place. You get that feeling when you’re in there and talking to him and other people there. Wonderful guy.
You guys should check out Northern Cafe. It’s a greasy spoon located in a lumber yard . The floor in the restaurant is steeply slanted but the food is quite reasonable and delicious.
For anyone who thinks the servings were that size because of this review, the servings are always this size. That soup bowl is always full. No salt saturated processed meats. We’ve been going here for years … decades.
@reelininthebeers8234 Will do! Their sandwiches lookin real good! Bit of a trek from Richmond, so I'd have to make an adventure out of it and eat lots there!
You guys should go to Cafe Trung Nguyen on Kingsway & Knight and get the 'Hu Tieu Nam Vang' and order the dried version (soup broth on side, not soup mixed together in noodles like traditional pho).
Ya I wish it was, but the crazier thing is finding a place that still has quality food that is cheaper than any fast food restaurant you can find. That to me is incredible.
Now I know you need the Vancouver name in the title for clicks, but Yassers is in my hometown of Burnaby. I've always drives past this place but never tried it, will have to check it out.

I absolutely love these kinds of places. I’d much rather give a place like this my money over the big named fast food joints … any day. I live in rural Nova Scotia. I’d give my left _you know what_ for a place like this in my area.
Thanks for the tip on Wangs in your other video. Went there the other day and it was great. I don't have an option to give a dono for some reason, hopefully it shows up for me soon.
Haha hell ya glad you enjoyed it wangs is a sick place. Turns out the dono option is only available on videos that we didn’t use copyrighted music so the Italian day one is the only vid with it pretty much haha. Cheers! :)
Great video as always! Thank you for sharing some hidden gems in the area. Would recommend checking out some restaurants near the Joyce Skytrain Station - Japanese Bistro Kamome for some amazing onigiri (rice balls) for around $4 each. Bao Bakery (steamed buns) right across the street, and there's a nice Filipino lunch place nearby (Plato Filipino) with halo halo (crushed ice dessert). Cheers!
Ya dude I used to live right there! I’ve eaten at all of those spots minus the Japanese onigiri. Was such a sick place for food. Super great pizza was super great until they started making the slices half the size haha. Cheers Jeffrey.
Thank you for this . I like your real content and gives me some new places to try, 😊 Wondering if either of you guys have tried Save on Meats ? Just putting it out there as a possible video idea. I think it falls into the cheap eats category . Looking forward to the next video.
@@reelininthebeers Just looked up Save on Meats on google and unfortunately permanently closed .I guess i should of looked it up before suggesting but another place that is open is Hi Five Chicken been on my list but have never tried
