What’s the cheapest natively supported GPU for macOS Mojave, Catalina, Big Sur Hackintosh? Here is my tip. Works out of the box, you don’t need to do any fancy tricks to make it working! Great GPU for your Apple Mac or Hackintosh if you don't need any super powerful GPU, but you still wanna take advantage of using macOS Mojave or Catalina with natively supported graphics card. Hi Teresa, I am wonder what is your current opinion about KVM virtualization (i.e Proxmox). I saw you movie about it and I managed to do the same - I have already Catalina (RX560) and Windows 10 (GT730) as VMs and all is working perfectly. So, thank you very much for this inspiration :-). Are you using this kind of configuration for the production? Did you managed all your computers this way? What are pros and cons today in your opinion?

Hi @Morgonaut, nice video. I successfully build my first hackintosh last year. But I make a wrong move by choosing GTX 1060 as my GPU. Now I'm stuck with High Sierra. I'm thinking of swaping my GPU to AMD and making a clean install of Mojave or Catalina. Did some research and thinking of buying Sapphire Pulse/Nitro+ RX580 as it will run smoothly in hackintosh (thinking of cost wise too $$). But here where I live, Sapphire Nitro+ RX590 is cheaper compare to RX580 (I don't know why). Will this RX590 card run smoothly as RX580? Both are Polaris architecture.

Vega 56/64, Radeon VII if you want maximun performance. But only the Vega FE and Radeon VII have the 16GB framebuffer

Hello Teresa! very good video and well explained. I am a music producer, and I use two screens. I currently have an Nvidia GT 120 that worked fine for me on El Capitan (on Mac Pro 5.1 mid 2010), but on Catalina it doesn't detect the second screen. Will it be that with the 710 if both screens work for me? Thank you!!

Thanks for the video & the suggestion! I've had a working hackintosh before, but I needed to replace my PC to a new one. Since then I've tried to install a hackintosh for multiple times, followed many walkthroughs, always failed. Just be aware, this card does NOT support 60Hz for near 4K resolutions (anything over 2560x1440). I learned this the hard way.

Hello Teresa, how are you? Hopefully you're safe! I followed up your advise and bought the GT 710 and work nice with my Dell 710 with High Sierra... But I also need to make it work with El Capitan and Mavericks (audio software), but I not get graphics acceleration (web drivers installed, but I cannot activate the option to use Nvidia web drivers, it always booted up with Mac OS driver option...) Could you please give me some tip to resolve it out? Thanks in advance! Sebastian.

Excellent video, i really loved it thanks! Just a couple of questions though, 1. do you get the boot screen with this card? i think i saw that you do in the back ground? 2. I am using 5,1 and have high sierra on a mac pro early 2009. is this graphics card metal supported? will it work properly on Catalina as in does it support graphics acceleration which Catalina recommends? 3.The problem is i have x2 Apple LED Cinema monitors but these model monitors has mini display port connectors and this card doesn't have them as inputs. Can you recommend any adapters or solution please? can this card run two monitors together? i know these are a lot of questions but i really need your help and you seem to have all the answers :) Thanks Again!

Well, I was thinking to buy a GT 710...but was EXTREMELY CONFUSED!! some folks would say it is not supported, some say it is! Hi there , you seem to know quite a lot about video cards I've got a Mac Pro 4,1 DUAL QUAD and I put a PC Quadro 5000 in(2nd Lane) next to the ATI 5770 (1st Lane) and obviously it doesn't boot screen but the ATI does so all good there, but the problem I have is that I can only get 1920 X 1080 60hz NTSC it can do 2560 x 1600 at 60 Hz but it doesn't give me that option I am coming out of display port on the Quadro to a dvi convertor which then goes to a normal HDMI connector on the monitor which is a AOC AG322QCX is it because the card only has 2.5 gb do I need a newer model with more video ram?

I recently updated my Hackintosh build Rockin an X77chipset and i7 2600k to GAz390pro i9 9900k I still have a GTX 770.. it almost 7 years old, but I got it back then because of native macOS support it still works great even in Catilina... but when I get more duckets saved, ill get the Radeon 5700xt. I had always used the tonymac x86 tools to get everything set up. it was getting harder and harder to update my os to the newest version because my hardware was getting very legacy... going to efi folder and clover instead of unibeast and multibeast is SO much easier.

Sorry that i ask this over here... but i dont know where else to ask :D... will this PCIe 2.0 (16x I assume) work with this board: ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/50092/intel-desktop-board-dh67cf.html I think it will but just to double check... Im mounting a hackintosh on the cheap to start developing in xcode... and I bought this mini pc as a server a year ago and I intend to repurpose it..., this motherboard with an i3 (i dont remember specifically wich) with an integrated Intel graphic card... and with the integrated graphic card I was able to get fullhd resolution although a litte bit chopy, running catalina (niresh version, as is the ony one I made it work)... also wich ethernet kext do you recomend me for this board?... and also... any usb wifi adapters? thank you a lot, and sorry if this is not the appropiated channel to send you the question...

Hi, very interesting video. I'm new to Hackintosh and have always run Linux. Just fell for MacOS and it installed beautifully on my Asus Z87-K with Intel i7-4770k. The big drawback however is that i cannot get 2 displays to work. With the Intel HD4600 iGPU, when the second monitor is connected the box reboots automatically. Been working on this issue and can't ge4t it solved. Last resort would be a dGPU so i wachted your video. Very good, thanks for it. What i just want to know, by using the Asus GT710-1-SL, does it support dual monitors (1080p), 1 on DVI and 1 on HDMI? Thank you for your response!

why should I do that when I can connect natively GPUs directly to PCIe slots?? That does not make any sense. eGPU makes sense while connecting to MacBook, Mac Mini, Imac...

I believe the igpu of i9-9900k can be used only in headless mode. Don’t bother with it, just get an AMD RX580 or sth. better.

@@MorgonautHackintosh My internal slots are blocked with UAD-2 Audio cards, so I´d like to help my Vega 64 with a second one. But in the meantime, I switched one UAD-2 for an RX480 8GB, but it did not seem to be working while rendering a video... I´ll keep trying and thanks for all your awesome work here on youtube :-)

I installed a Catalina OS patch on my 3.1 Mac Pro and it works fine with the 8800 video card except for acc graphics needed for Imovie to open. If I use a GT 710 card, can I boot with Mavericks, and El Capitan with no video problem?

Many thanks for this! I've been struggling upgrading my High Sierra hac for several weeks now and decided to grab a gt710. I have the z370 and the i7 8700 too, but... although the 3 screens are active during install of Mojave, as soon as it boots in one screen goes blank. I'm guessing this is from something I still have that made High Sierra work with my old GT640, but that now I have the GT710 it's not needed but is stopping my third screen from working! Any idea where I should look? There aren't any obvious kexts referring to nvidia cards? Many thanks and well done on your channel! Very refreshing and helpful!

Hi Teresa, I´m typing from Leon Guanajuato Mexico, I really like your videos, all of them have been very educational and motivational. I followed your advice and got a GT 710 to change the old and weak Geforce 210 in order to move from High Sierra to Catalina, but now I have this problem: neither iStat or Hwmonitor detects the GPU sensor so I can not check the GPU temperature (iStat does detects the GPU but only in the CPU dropdown statistics), Do I need any other kext to monitor this GPU? Thank you in advance.

No, and it never will, unfortunately. That is Nvidia, and basically Apple have said they will never qualify any Nvidia drivers for MacOS, beyond the last time they did that. And @morgonaut's post was about the last class of graphics card from Nvidia that *did* get qualified Apple drivers.

Hi Teresa , First of all thank you very much for your videos ...Great videos ....!!!...I have a 2008 Macpro , I install unsupported Mojave this machine and I have a GT710 but it didn't work, screen is black :( what can I do ?? How can I fix the problem ?? And I also use another GPU original ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256 MB , its working no problem

Hi Morgonaut! Just installed this card in my 5,1 running High Sierra. But it would only work in slot 1 or 2. Would not boot in 3 or 4. I was hoping to use slot 1 for another audio card for the bandwidth. Any idea why it will only boot in slot 1 and 2 and not 3 or 4? Thanx in advance!

Very good channel. I have hackintosh on my PC which I have windows and Catalina on different discs. In windows I have a sound blaster x sound card, in hackintos the audio recognizes me in a way native my asus strix b450 board. But if I connect the sound card it doesn't recognize the audio, I already probe with drivers and nothing- I would like to know if there is any way to disable the pci express in Catalina so that I can recognize the board audio. Thank you

Thank you so much for your great tutorial videos. Installed this card in Mac Pro 5, 1 running high sierra and it has no audio out on hdmi. The card let me upgrade to mojave but still no audio over hdmi. I can I enable the hdmi audio to work?

she said there is no audio support.But I found that the 2GB version seems to be slightly different, they wrote: _”support for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD audio bitstreaming, the card is also interesting for HTPCs”_ ... but I don't know exactly what that means, I hope it can help. Cheers !

Great videos as always. I also just got a GT 710, is it possible to make it work on Snow Leopard and Mountain Lion? I just inserted it on my cpu, and my SL load but not recognized it. And also when i try to load my othed drive with ML system, it stuck on apple logo. (Previously may graphic card is GT 430, both my SL & ML working fine).

Got the MSI Gaming GeForce GT 710 1GB. Works great-super quiet(no fan). Would be nice to know if all the Gt-710 flavors work...? But for $40 it was a very easy way to upgrade my Mac Pro 5,1 to Mojave.
