Fenvi: pros (plug-n-play, side-car, airdrop, system recovery at boot, remember all wifi networks, can use bluetooth at boot) cons (as you said 1 pcie and 1 bluetooth -internal usb pins-) cost benefit Usb solution: needs to find a functional driver, no airdrop, no side-car, no system recovery at boot, no bluetooth at boot, no remember wifi connections. Uses an external port of your mainboard/chasis.

Hi Everyone, has anyone had the issue where you install the driver and the kexts aren't being added to the EFI folder? I can see the icon at the top bad but it says that "no usb device detected". Would adding the kexts manually solve this problem? BTW I bought the Archer T3U Plus.

@@MorgonautHackintoshHi! I'll tell you, inside my hackintosh I have 6 hard drives (ssd, sata7200rpm, nvme) and it won't let me install more disks. So I need to buy something external. I was thinking of buying a 4tb thunderbolt 3 disc to be able to play Red or Alexa files or buy something like a Synology (which sounds a bit expensive to me, but if it is the best option I could go with a version with few discs) If this is the best option you think, which 10g network card would you recommend? (now that thanks to your video I'm going to remove the Fenvi wifi board). Thanks for the help! as always

I would never buy any Synology crap and absolutely not any TB solution. Build proper file server with 10G networking. Or add PCIe controller to your computer to get more SATA ports, more nvme disks...

I’m happy to see this new video regarding WiFi Margonaut. I didn’t want to spend that amount of money on a WiFi card that the fenvi costs so I was directed to this card TP-LINK TL-WN725N it is doing the job so no complaints for now. I’m hoping when I manage to install Monterey that it’ll still work. Looking forward to your Bluetooth video as that’s the last thing I need to get working.

It looks the USB adapter would be connected to mac via ethernet not wifi which can't make Airdrop(eg. file transferring etc). does it work Airdrop?

Thank you Theresa for always providing great value with your videos. Quick question: any idea why the app doesnt stay in the status bar. I install the app, restarted, put in the usb, start the VM, and the app is gone. I reinstall it and the "new wifi app in the status bar" is there, and wifi works. When i shutdown and reboot, the app is gone again. Thank you for any fdbck.

@@MorgonautHackintosh I thiught I did but it seems i did not :D I realized that the next day and yes this was the problem. The app was installed it was just not a startup item so it did not load. Thanks for the response anyway, it was the correct problem you identified and the solution.

I've had the very same TP-Link usb adapter and the WiFi speed wasn't very good (my home network is 1Gbps - local and 500mbps down/up internet speed) and sometimes drops connection. Those adapters simulates an attached LAN card so that's just a way to connect to WiFi network, but still considered as different type of connection by Mac OS.

Hi recently ran into this problem. For some reason my wifi usb is on the support list. But it says no wifi usb adapter connected. But when I do system report it shows the wifi usb adapter under usb section as connected via usb 3.0 could there be something I'm doing wrong

Hi Teresa, I jumped right away to purchase the Archer T3U Plus, I installed it on Catalina, but after rebooting and plugging the adapter, it says: "No USB-Wifi Plug in" when clicking on the upper icon. The USB Hub shows a 802.11ac NIC (Realtek based) BUT there's no WIFI adapter showing in Syst Pref / Network. Any ideas? BTW I tried all the 3 latest driver releases 9, 8 and 7. And BTW thanks for the video with the Asus BT, it works nicely

don't try or install any other drivers - just follow EXACTLY INSTRUCTIONS and my tutorial

Hi and thank you for your nice videos!! I would like to ask you for a new one where to explain how to get more than one resolution on mackintosh without any graphic card. @@MorgonautHackintosh Thank You Morgonaut to take your time for the subject! What I couldn't resolve on my new HighSierra 10.12.3, was in System Pref::Displays. Only one resolution for anything... I often get more resolution with Alt+click on Adjusted but not now. My graphic card is not running so I have only 3MB from my MB (Gigabyte:Z77X-UD3H) that support 3MB (!!) only... I couldn't find if there is any solution for this problem. I installed a trial of SwitchResX but do not resolved. I have only 1064x768 px and a new graphic card today is not possible as they skyrocket prices in this country (Argentina). May be that it is cause my monitor is an old VGA? I can buy a new one with HDMI but don´t know if this will bring a solution for more resolutions ... Thank again Morgonaut for your help! You are very kind ... Saludos, Jorge Aldo

resolutions are different based on display attached. For different displays you will get different options for resolutions. So what you expect to see when you have no gpu and no display? Get even cheapest supported gpu and display with hdmi and you're good to go.

What about those who have in-built wifi and Bluetooth (Realtek) in laptops, even it's not showing the wifi icon or anything like that neither at the top near the battery icon nor inside settings. 2:18 No, it's class AC1300, but that doesn't mean you get 1300Mbits of Wi-Fi speed. That number is the combined rounded theoretical maximum bitrate of the card: 867 (5GHz) + 400 (2.4GHz + TurboQAM/QAM256) = 1267, so class 1300. You will only use one band at the same time, preferably 5GHz, which means 867Mbits maximum theoretical throughput. In real world performance and in ideal conditions (MCS 9) you will probably also even only get half of that speed. So to answer your question: what you need more? I need an actual good Wi-Fi card without a bad Realtek chip inside (like this one) and would prefer native support on macOS that also provides AirDrop and Handoff. This made me buy an ASUS PCE-AC68, yes PCI-E, but with a proper Broadcom chip inside, excellent range and native AirDrop+Handoff support.

@Morgonaut how do i get my pc laptop to reconize the partion on my hp elitebook 8460p and get it to where i can boot with out flashdrive? and thanks for the wifi help. and also how do i get usb 3.0 working on my laptop? only the usb 2.0 are working on my laptop.

just copy your efi folder from flash disk to efi partition of your SSD and set in bios to boot from the ssd

I might be wrong but I don't think any of the solutions you gave brings us HandOff or AirDrop... which is HUGE deal breaker if you ask me.

@@MorgonautHackintosh well, I’d say two things then. One - you don’t know what complaining means. So read my comment again and you’ll see I simply assumed (respectfully) something that might be a heads up for others. Many people know it takes BT and Wifi to operate HandOff/AirDrop but they don’t get that it’s not the case always, such as when using the solutions in your video. The 2nd thing I’ll say is - as a RU-vidr too - you wanna be a bit nicer to your audience. Your videos are great actually and it’s not the first one I’ve seen. Wish you the best and thanks for the video regardless 🙏

Thank you. But... Looks like 1. This device do not work as usb 3.0 device, really do not know why... an this problem exists on pc computers too. Only usb 2.0.... 2. The device cuts 5 Ghz range: it sees only channel 36 and 40 in my case 3. The device has so thick case that covers nearest usb port on mother board, so I can not use this port anymore :(

Doesnt work for me somehow... I bought the exact same bluetooth adapter. But for some strange reason, I had bluetooth information on my system informations page. Can you help me with this?
