I bought one after watching this video. I work as a hospital clown so this is perfect to carry there, the sound is great and lovely. Today was the first day using it and the kids were delighted. Thank you so much for this great video and recommendation! Greetings from Brazil!
Hi, I'm the guy that told you about this drum the other day. I was disappointed that it didn't come with a bag. I work with people with special needs, and I wanted them to get to play with this little guy. I does fit nicely in the bag with my 6 inch, but I didn't want them rubbing on each other. So I went shopping for a bag to put it in. I was looking all over. Saw some nice little bags but, some were more than I wanted to spend or had zipper on them, which would be ok if I was just going to stick it in a purse or something, but I'm sticking it in the bag with my 6 inch, and didn't want to scratch it up. As I was looking around, I thought why don't I use a sock. So I bought a nice colorful pair a DTree, and discovered, that it was the perfect bag for more then one reason. This little guy doesn't have the little rubber legs like most tongue drums, and doesn't sit very well. The sock rolls down to a nice perfect donut shape that the little drum sits in perfectly. When I'm done, I just take the drum and push it up in to the center of the sock donut. The sock because just a little unrolled, leaving a nice roll around the top, which makes a little more padding, and when I take it out one or two little rolls and the sock in to a donut is back in shape to be used as a stand again. I use the extra sock as a mallet bag now lol. One other thing I discovered, was that my 6 incher seem to have a flat note in one if the smaller tongues. When I got the little guy I was messing around, and smacked around the 6 incher with the 3 incher mallet, and the dead flat tongue came to life. I think the the mallet that came with the 6in is to soft for the small tongue. I wanted more then one mallet for my 6in and I wanted them to be a little longer. After some trial and error, I found that a dowl rod, with a push but on the end ( push but: they are little rubber caps that that they put on the end of screws, and bolts so they don't catch on things. You can find them at Lowe's, ace hardware ex., but don't expect anybody working there to know what they are lol) the push nuts on there own are still a little tingy so I put some rubber washers on top of them, they are the perfect mallet for my 6 incher. I may try putting a little ballbearing in the end of the push nut just to give it a little more weigh, but they are still a great improvement over the stock mallet with out bearing. All right I'm done this is more than I wanted to write lol, but I hope it helps, and I hope you can understand it over all my bad grammar and spelling 😁
My 8 note Kalimba is the perfect ADHD fidget "toy". This is another tool to add my arsenal and place on rotation, especially since I travel a lot for work.
If there were more people like you in this world, it would have been much much better place ! Keep smiling & spreading the musical joy ! You & what you do - both are very sweet ❣️ God bless you ☺️
So cute! But I have the purple one and to me, the sound is amazing. But I will keep this in mind as a gift for friends who seem interested in my full size tongue drum. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!
I just bought the same and I 'm pretty happy too, it's my first drum, it looks like a toy and sounds like a music box! I'm gonna practice this summer !
So cute. You are so good with your videos, I feel like I know you. I have looked at your various videos numerous times in past few days trying to decide what I wanted. Tried to get American made but ran across Etsy shop "rytoratai" that has double 9", pretty, hand made drums. The sounds are mellow and he gives felted mallets, which make a difference. Tuned in G major and A Akebono. Have you seen them, from Poland? I am excited. My first. Thank you for all you do, great info that you share.
Thank you for your video I bought this for a fan and I love it. But since I don't have any knowledge of music, I can't use his music book Can you introduce me to a source so that I can understand the signs in his notebook?
I love this little drum, I have a gold one... (by Hluru) The drum is supposed in the key of D although it doesn't seem to be in tune with my big 15 note D major Hluru drum... :( I might have to play with tuning the big one to try and get them both in tune... I also want the 6 inch one you have. I ended up getting one from Hluru direct since it's not available on amazon otherwise. But that looks like the 6inch one you are holding. If so you can use that as a companion drum for one of your large D 15 note drum I think.
Vielen herzlichen Dank
It's so cute! It's worth the price just to use as a conversation piece. I remember when you unboxed that purple one and I thought that one was small. LOL.
Thank you! I bought this for my LARP character who holds Tea Ceremonies in a field. All her gear has to fit in a small back-pack, and I wasn't expecting much! At least now I know that my more musical friends' ears won't be offended by it!
