Koh Samui is one of the beautiful islands located in the gulf of Thailand on the southern side of the country. It is much more beautiful than the usual places like Pattaya or Phuket. Because of its southern end location, direct flights from India and Flights from Bangkok too can be expensive. If Chennai to Bangkok return flights cost around 15000 rupees, then Chennai to Koh Samui return flights will cost at least 35000 rupees or more. The best and cheap solutions are.
1. Chennai to Bangkok by flight - Return flights if precooked are cheaper @ less than 15000 rupees.
2..Bangkok to Surat Thani by Train or Bus
3. Surat Thani to Koh Samui by Ferry
I booked a Bus and Ferry combo from Bangkok to Koh Samui through a travel company called "LOMPRAYAH " They charged me 1300 baht (2850 rupees) for the ticket from Bangkok to Koh Samui. It includes the following,
1. Transfer from Hotel to Bus pick up point in Bangkok
2. A/c Seater Bus from Bangkok to Surat Thani
3. Transfer from Surat Thani drop point to Surat Thani Pier
4. Ferry from Surat Thani Pier to Koh Samui Pier
The bus started from Bangkok at around 7.30pm and reached Surat Thani by around 5am with one 30mins stop in between for Food. The bus has a toilet in.
Waited at the Surat Thani Drop point for an hour. Then transferred to the Surat Thani Pier by mini van. It took around 30 to 40 mins to reach the pier.
Boarded the ferry and it took around 90 to 100 mins to reach Koh Samui Pier.
