Check Engine Light Flashing - What Does It Mean? 

My check engine light has been flashing since April. Went to 2 mechanics who couldn’t figure it out, with the second dude asking that the engine be dismantled. I gave up and drove it that way until my fuel consumption tripled. Finally got it fixed today by a DIY mechanic, with zero electronic tools. 1 ignition coil was faulty and another one wasn’t firing properly. Replaced the 2 and everything is alright.

My 2008 Honda Odyssey leaves a blue cloud of smoke after being idle for couple min and starts running. Only leaves a cloud of smoke it does not continue to smoke when is running. Any thoughts thanks .

Mine was flashing, after highway use, but when I pulled over and stopped, turned engine off and back on, the blinking went away. It stays on ever since i straight piped it. 06 lincoln LS v8.

My 02 Ford ranger had a flashing engine light the turned into a misfire had a cracked coil pack replaced the with a new one and new plugs and wires didn't help much and the light flashes when at idle I was thinking could be carbon build up on the throttle butterfly was wondering if you might have a better idea of what could be causing the rough idle and flashing engine light

This happened to me, and the car started shaking. Drove it around 2-3 more times because I didn't want to take it in because it is an old car. Definitely going to sell the car and get a new one.

my engine light comes on only when I ride the hill soon after starting the engine BUT flashing engine light disappears after few seconds. it happens sometimes... any suggestion why it is happening

Yes I constantly blinking check engine light means some thing horrific is happening. However something horrific happened to my 2021 RS blazer fully loaded gray engine however just a check engine light came on and then when I tried to get it to the dealership catastrophic engine failure so sometimes it doesn’t do this off and on stuff that it should. What I think happened is when the oil was changed the guy underneath was draining it as the guy was putting it into it so I drove away with no oil. And all of the codes afterwards are all indicative of that but me telling the dealership where I bought it from Chevrolet dealership GMC well it’s not Gmc it’s Chevrolet but one in the same but not exactly. They said all the codes are indicative of having it well even though they pulled out 4 quarts require six but they still pulled out for so I’m like OK what the heck happened. And Jason the service manager doesn’t even want to send the engine in but I started talking to Gmc and they’re like no we would like the engine to come to the best engineer so we can actually see what actually happened with this vehicle in case there’s something wrong with other vehicles and we find some thing that they didn’t because we are the top mechanics they are not we built the engine they didn’t! I couldn’t believe the guy didn’t want to send it and I was like are you smoking pot on the job because that is a absolute normal thing to do is to send it into Gmc‘s engineers because happened after oil change a simple oil change not due to something I did. I don’t let it go below half a tank I put the recommended gasoline into it so the recommended oil was put into it the recommended filter was put into it so tell me what happened! And it should’ve done this often on check engine thing but it was just a still check engine light but if I showed you the engine and what it looks like now it’s all scratched and crazy. I told him that the transmission was having a hard time getting there because it wouldn’t go out at first it wanted to go very slow and it was doing some rubbing in some weird stuff it should’ve been doing so I’m like is it transmission OK well we didn’t have any bad codes from the transmission did you even check it because I don’t even know who I trust at this point in time if the service station did it or the guys at the dealership are they being honest who the heck can I trust I’m just gonna go ahead and send A letter demanding that things be looked at legally I mean lawyers involved and they can all fight with each other. I’ll take the car with the replacement engine but whoever her and it will end up paying for it because I refuse to!

My 2012 Honda Fit this morning went into this mode and I couldn’t get over 40 miles per hour and barely up a hill. On my way home to try and get to a shop I finally had to have it towed. Only 85,000 miles on it! It started popping loudly and I barely made it back into a safe parking lot. I hope to God I didn’t blow the motor. It was leaking a little something not sure what. It will take some days before the shop can get to it so me and my wife will be sharing one car.

I have a serious question so that when I go 30 the rpm exceeds quickly and it feels like I’m going 60 but I’m doing 25-30 and I noticed when this happened it’s not shifting gears an I have a automatic but then I stop and turn of the car and turn back on it goes back to normal and shift gears like how it’s supposed to but 5 minutes of driving it continues doing the same the it did before please let me know as quickly as possible what it might be thank you

Every time you go to the dealership it is a 1000 dollars or more and they just keep you coming back every few weeks or months it’s a scam check engine light people go and buy a code reader for your self and scam the code before you take the car in for service

The scanner didn't scan anything, I have a 2018 ford fusin that had the engine and turbo replaced

Me and my mom have this problem with our Honda Odyssey and the code said 4th cylinder misfired we fixed the spark plugs and put in fuel cleaner. I hope that's all that wrong with it

My engine light isn't flashing per say. It went on one day after I went through a bug puddle of water after it rained then 3 days later it went off by itself. Mine only start flashing at high rpm. i drive my car only in city so i wanted to hit the red so in 2nd gear i hit 6.5k rpm then the check engine start flashing which i drop to 2.5k rpm and after 30 seconds it go away tried again high rpm check engine started flash then disappear. car works normally no problem. next service i will tell my mechanic to check it.

Okay I took my car over to O'Reilly's and they keep telling me it's misfiring cylinder number one but the check engine light keeps blinking and I replaced the coil pack in the spark plugs on cylinder number one but it still says misfiring cylinder number one
