Our second trip to the Uwharrie area we spend time seeing some of the suggested sites. We first visit the Star Works Lab. Star Works started out as a lab to test the different types of clay found in the area and also test different methods of firing it, to make the final product stronger. Over the years it has expanded to a place where artists using clay and glass can explore and show off their talents. Located in Star North Carolina with a gallery to experience the artists creation, studios to work and observe those creating and a café with taproom. Next, we visit the art museum Seagrove, NC the nonprofit North Carolina Pottery Center, the only state-wide facility in the nation devoted solely to pottery. The center opened to the public and covers the history of pottery in America. The town of Seagrove and surrounding area is full of independent pottery shops. You can grab a sandwich from a local restaurant and easily spend and afternoon exploring the different shops. ncpotterycente...
