Artist Kevin Caron shares the power of his Essentials of TIG Welding guide ....
Do you know why Kevin Caron sharpens his TIG Welding tungstens the way he does?
That's just 1 of the topics covered in his "Essentials of TIG Welding" guide available at kevincaron.retr... The store has his TIG welding guides as well as a bundle of all the guides.
The "Essentials of TIG Welding" has 18 videos that give you all sorts of basic information - things like how to hold your welding torch, how to move your torch, how to grind the tungsten, how to hold the filler rod, how to feed the filler rod as you're welding and more.
It's really, really important stuff!
And it's not just the fact that you can find all this information in these videos. YOU don't have to find it! The Retrieve search engine finds it for you!
You just type in "sharpening tungsten," "filler rod," "cups," - whatever you're looking for - and you can search all the videos at once! The search engine will take you right where the information is in any video.
If you have a microphone on your computer, you can even just speak the term you are looking for. And the guides can deliver the answers in English, Spanish and French!
It's really cool, amazing technology. And it's only $4.98 for 18 videos in this Essentials of TIG Welding Guide.
You really have to have this guide, so come out to kevincaron.retr...
Well, you might want to hang out for another moment to see Kevin speak to his co-worker ....

Howdy Kevin, I wonder about Thoriated Tungsten and radiation. I really don't know how safe it is to use/grind/store the most recommended alloy for steel welding (in my research). I know I shouldn't eat it. Also, do you have advice on repair versus replace? I have a broken AHP alphatig-200x. It never came back from Winter break, so to speak. Thanks for the videos.

Don't use thoriated tungsten. The dust IS radioactive and will give you cancer in short order. The dust will get into your lungs and start changing your dna. I won't touch the stuff especially since there's so many better tungstens out there. If you want a really good, safe tungsten, check out CKWorldwide Layzr tungsten. With a 200 amp machine, get 3/32 size and you can weld everything from razor blades to 1/4 inch with it. It's really stable. Doesn't split or crack like most other tungstens. And welds every single metal really well. I have an ahp aplha, have had it 5 years. It still works like a champ. However, if/when it breaks I am going to switch to the Primeweld tig225. More power. Comes with a ck hose and torch. And the customer service is far superior to ahp. I get to use a variety of machines and tungstens at work. We do a lot of testing of various things. Primeweld and layzr tungsten is the best bang for the buck there is. Weldmetalsonline has the tungsten and the primewelds for sale. Amazon also has them. Honorabe mention tungstens E3 Purple tungsten, Blue 2% lanthanated tungsten. Both weld pretty much everything pretty well. Only issue with them is they tend to split and crack.

Thank you for watching and posting. Have to agree with Angry Beard, stay away from the Thoriated. I use E3 for all the tig welding I do. As to the AHP, have you called their tech support? Get the cover off the machine and give them a call. They will tell you what to check to figure out what is wrong. Then go from there.
