Hi I just bought an IRobot i1+ and installed the app IRobot home but it doesn't have the features of room dividers, room labels, etc. Is what you have specific to only other IRobots?
Thanks! This video was very helpful :-) How long does it take the Roomba to have mapped the floor so you can define different rooms? So far after six runs it hasn't mapped the ground floor yet. Should I wait for the ground floor to be mapped before I use it on a different floor? I wonder what your experiences are :-)
Well we only ran it on the one floor for a while before trying the others so the map had formed. To get the map you're going to have to check what kinda run its going on. Just that free for all clean style and let it go. Took about 4 or 5 for us to have a basic map and then tweaked it/updated as it did more.
What can you do if your robot finds a new space after mapping? Like if I’m vacuuming the office but finds a new space like the other side of the office I didn’t get to map! What do i do?
You move the Roomba to 2nd floor or basement (pick it up, move, and it recognizes where it is). My question: can I move the base also from 1st to 2nd floor so that Roomba can empty and recharge no matter which floor it is on?
I have the same question. Did you get an answer? I’m considering buying a 2nd base because moving the base upstairs seems to confuse the robot. It combines my two floors into the same map. And, then it seems like it can never figure out how to get “home”.
I have a question , should i keep the clean base connected to electricity all the time , or can i unplug it when going to bed and then replug it when i wakeup, cuz i’m using 220 v converter and it scares me to leave it plugged in?? sorry if i wasn’t clear english ain’t my first language ,also will unplugging it erase scheduling and stuff ?
I leave mine plugged in all the time. At the end of the day you only need it to charge the robot and run the emptying bin part... I can't imagine the hassle of plugging it in and off is less than just leaving it on
I’m looking to buy my first Roomba so I’m not really sure which one I should go with! I’ve been looking into the 981. Would you have any recommendations? It’s just my kitty and myself here, and we share a one floor apartment. Biggest concern is the poor vacuum falling to it’s death, as I’m on the second floor and my door is at the bottom of my steps. I’ve watched a video or two and I see that they can stop themselves, but it still worries me a little 😅
they do stop themselves, so no worries there. personally i like my i7+ ... having the dirt base and the interactive map (i.e. labelling parts of the room and saying "clean under the couch") is so worth it.
Note: As of May 2022 i3 DOES support Smart Mapping. Get the new firmware. Mine works fine. It just lacks the zone exclusion feature but you can map all rooms and send to seperate rooms as needed.
Can you rotate the zones? I have a corner flat and my current robot vacuum (Conga) is very annoying because the entire map is angled and my zones are oriented in such a way as you make creating tight no-go zones for a heavy rug misaligned (and therefore have to be huge to cover the whole thing)
Was the room accessible for it to get into? Sometimes it takes a few runs for it to recognize there is a "separation" between two spaces. There is a way in the map to manually split the room as well.
Only ran it once and no map, can the i3 do mapping? This. Would be very convenient for me. Perhaps I need to run it three or four times before it establishes a map?
Its stupid all of it is in 1 map. If I have a no go zone at the dinner table, it seems impossible to make a new job where it cleans that area and then I mark a new place where the seats are placed that it should not clean. but problem is that cleaning area can not overlap no go zone. it will simply not go there... The jobs should be seperated with the same map but different layouts for different jobs
@@juliettexox9311 just googling it and it seems no... It smartly navigates but doesn't sound like it has the smart map feature... If it does it should appear after you've done a few clean everywhere runs
just bought a new 976 and can't see map option as well however I believe that it would appear after first cleaning ride as soon as roomba would map the floor
Mine's the i7+ If it has the smart mapping feature (there 976) it needs to run in a "clean everywhere" mode before it starts to figure out that map and suggest rooms etc
