The bright green tips for a downrigger rod should be mandatory for all manufacturers after seeing this! Great feature.

I think it makes sense. Also, since these are thread wraps covered with epoxy, they help to protect the rod without effecting the action.

I bought one of the trolling rods, and hit a dock piling with it while I was backing out my boat. I thought it was broken for sure, however it survived. A few weeks later I caught a king on it, so no permanent damage. They are definitely well built, I bought another one already!!!

Years ago I did that exact same thing and wasn’t so lucky. Check for scratches. Those rods have an incredibly tough outer surface so the y probably aren’t but that’s what will weaken any rod.

I’ll have to give your rods a try, sounds like good rods, you stress the warranty, how strong and sensitive and fishable they are! I’m in! I have been buying rods for many years from another prominent NW company, on a brand new rod, putting line on it for first time snapped the tip!! Their idea of warrantee was take $25 or $30 off of a new rod, and that was after numerous phone calls and emails over several months time of no responses ! No more lamajunk for me. Justin, thanks for pushing the status quo with the products you supply.

I'll second Blktailhunter53's interest in a 9"6" rod. My boat just isn't large enough to make a 10'+ rod practical. I'd even prefer one about an even 9'. Thanks.

The best part about downriggers is you can do anything from flashers to straight bait, as once the fish is hooked there's no weight holding you back. You're fighting just the fish, so literally any rod functions the same on a downrigger. Unreal people pay $280 for a rod they are sold marketed as a "downrigger rod" Whatever sells I guess XD

That's an interesting comment. Do you downrigger fish? The idea that any rod functions the same on a downrigger is one of the boldest statements I've ever heard. Maybe you are correct. I should produce an entire episode exploring that concept. Thanks for your comment. What's really unreal is that many people have paid much more than $280 for similar rods.

@@AnglerWestTV Indeed, I downrigger fish every June/July/August. My 7' boat rod and 9' bobber rod made by WW Griggs are my go to's for almost anything, downrigger fishing included. And they were less than $100 each. I'd love to see an episode going over the benefits of these rods compared to a cheaper rod and why the premium price is warrented.

@@AnglerWestTV definitely interested in the 9’6 or 9’8 rod style. Also a 7’-7’9 twitch style rod. Is definitely sell my okuma x series for a local built rod. Love the 50 warranty style
