Now a retired tub thumper, it was my biggest thrill sitting 20 ft from Bonham in his early Zep 1 & 2 days. The mans timing and dynamic, was impeccable and his use of grace notes was superb.

You lucky man! I am jealous 😉 I have seen many bands live but Led Zeppelin wasn’t one of them. Now I am a 67 year old wannabe tub thumper and I think this will be beyond me. 🥁

I would like to believe that has more to do with the fact that she is a very good teacher and explains things in a manner that doesn't overwhelm a beginner's brain with jargon or hour long ramblings.

I must've been the weird one, because I am right-handed, but the first form I learned was LRK. However, it was a nightmare to learn RLK and it still feels weird to me. The only reason I wanted to learn both forms was to be able to play this exact fill without crossing my arms. It turned out that wanting to be lazy was more laborious process anyway lol 😂

What kind of kit are you playing on?

It's a Roland electric kit. But with the opening hihat (many just have a peddle to control the tension on one small cymbal that works as I hihat), and from the module, it's definitely one that's in the $1k-3k range. I'm hoping to get something similar this year, as my electric kit (and only kit, since I can only play in my room in a house of 6) doesn't have nearly as much control, and more importantly, the higher ends kits have different zones for the cymbals and even drum heads, making them play much more like a real kit.

As a purist by "chop" you actually mean "lick." Don't worry, almost everybody gets it wrong but chops are the skill of your hands/feet/whatever which you use to play the licks (series of notes).
