Is the curriculum mostly “about” music or is there an element of developing musicianship? If for a first grader, I highly recommend looking up John Feierabend’s “First Steps in Music”. If you or anyone you know has any musical ability, it would be easy to adapt this 8 part “music workout” for homeschooling. The song recordings are also easily found on RU-vid as well as the “moveit”s. I strongly recommend the curriculum book and also “first steps in action” DVD or stream to know how to lead it. A child’s music aptitude is very important to develop in the early years, it’s hard to develop when older. An “about music” curriculum would be a good enhancement to a “doing music” curriculum, but of the two, “doing music” yields far more benefits.
Ahhh…I just realized this is from 2 years ago 😅 (RU-vid feed suggestions are odd sometimes) well, hope the music curriculum you went with worked out well!
How did you like this curriculum? How did the matching game go for your then first grader? Have you come across any music curricula that goes over a symphonic orchestra and all of their instruments?
We liked it. The lessons were a little long so I had to break them up, but it was good content. My son only used the cards a few times 🤦♀️ but I think that’s on mom for not bringing them out each time. This is the only official music curriculum we’ve used.
