Our light fixture that's connected to the ceiling fan hasn't been working for a while and we had a hard time turning the fan on using the pulled chain. My dad thought the fixture was broken and kept on putting off the repair because the didn't want to spend the money on a new ceiling fan. We have a central AC so there wasn't any need for the fan during the hot summer weather. We've been using a standing light fixture in the room so it solved the problem.
But my mom wanted my dad to fix the issue, after all, mom always want everything in her house to be in near perfect working condition. Anyways, Lowes superstore near our home was going to shutter its business and it has sales on everything with huge discounts so my mom bought a nice Mayfield brand ceiling fan with light fixture.
Here are the #ᴬᴰlinks to items, materials, parts & tools required for this project:
1. amzn.to/4aPD7HD | Klein Tools NCVT1P Voltage Tester, Non-Contact Low Voltage Tester Pen, 50V to 1000V AC, Audible and Flashing LED Alarms, Pocket Clip
2. amzn.to/49Tad8f | Klein Tools RT250 GFCI Outlet Tester with LCD Display, Electric Voltage Tester for Standard 3-Wire 120V Electrical Receptacles
3. amzn.to/3xUXLI3 | AstroAI Digital Clamp Meter Multimeter 2000 Counts Amp Voltage Tester Auto-ranging with AC/DC Voltage, AC Current, Resistance, Capacitance, Continuity, Live Wire Test, Non-Contact Voltage Detection
Or Click on Amazon link here and search for what you need: amzn.to/3xIOsqg
Unfortunately after we installed the fixture, only the fan was working. The lights weren't. After testing for current and voltage, we immediately knew that there was no current going to the light. Apparently the wall switch failed. So the ceiling fan with the light fixture wasn't broken at all, it was the switch.
That's why we're sharing our experience with the viewers. So if you have any fixtures in your house that's not working, always check the wiring, wall switches, plugs or wall outlet. In most cases, at least in our experiences, it has always been the simpler and cheaper fix. But in our case, the ceiling fan fixture was at least over 20 years old, really ugly looking and the motor is probably not energy efficient.
In case you want to want to know how to replace, fix or repair the light and ceiling fan fixture, the wall switches, the wall outlet and any other electrical fixtures and components inside your home or apartments, here are some of the videos that we have uploaded on these topics:
