I thought the choreography was bad, then I read these comments that reflect what I was thinking. I think they had too much movement. The cheerleaders seemed misplaced to me also.
The merchandisers dancers are brilliant, such a perfect contrast after the 'ode to Chess' and very reflective of the brashness of commerce vs tradition. The dancers performed perfectly. The whole musical is a complete joy to behold. The musicians also seemed to really enjoy the performance.

not gonna lie, the arbiter sing is very disappointing compared to the original which actually seemed to have emotion behind it and made the song enjoyable
@@MaskedMan66 Agreed that he shouldn't be emotional, but he should be firm and authoritative. Part of it is that he's not the top bill in the show - basically everyone's going to sound a little reedy next to Groban - and part of it is that Bjorn Skifs kinda nailed the song the first time through, which makes it hard to reinterpret.
+roguishpaladin I never compare one performer with another; I take every performer on his or her own merits. And Pillow did a good job IMHO. Plus, the audience seemed to like him.
I don’t think he’s trying to be unemotional, he’s definitely putting some extra juice in it. The problem to me is that he lacks charisma/presence or a big voice so it just comes off flat and cheesy.

Doesn't look like it's supposed to be choreographed, and I imagine that the director saw it during rehearsal and didn't have a problem. You're also seeing a lot of this in brief flashes.
If you mean the Arbiter then that's Marti Pellow (formerly Wet Wet Wet) and is Scottish but yes his voice does warble a bit too much in my opinion but hats off to him keeping a straight face with the choreography behind him
