Checking for a vacuum leak with a scanner and some carb cleaner

For a vacuum leak that doesn't always show up with a smoke machine, watching your 02 sensors while spraying some carb cleaner, starting fluid or even some propane should help find the problem. Caution should be taken not to spray where there is a spark or a hot surface that could ignite the spray.

A couple of possibilities for for a cam sensor code on one of these saturns. First make sure the number one and number four plug wires aren't switched around on the coil. Then a faulty ignition module that doesn't sense when the number four cylinder is on it's compression stroke. Abad coil could also cause the codes. Also a compression or cumbustion problem with the number four cylinder may cause a cam code. If time allows I'll show testing for the compression sense ignition.

Hello. Can you tell me if the STFT and LTFT numbers are correct on my vehicle? idle STFT = between -2.3 to + 2%. LTFT = always at 0%! do you think these are good corrections? Also, if there is a vacuum leak by spraying cleaner brakes, should the numbers be positive due to a lean of the mixture? or the opposite ? thank you in advance

i know its a late response, all cars should show a fuel trim close to 0% ideally. don't worry about the numbers going positive or negative, just look for it to make it change when you are spraying it, you can also just listen to the engine RPMs for going up or down.
