Yes, it was making a rattling noise when going over small bumps (despite only having a small amount of play in the joint). The new ball joint eliminated the rattle. Good luck!
good Video. 07 accord has upper and lower control arms. whenever checking play on suspension that has this design one side of the car has to be jacked under the balljoint while the other side is still on the ground. on macpherson type suspension both sides of the car have lifted off from ground to check for play.
Hey brother I just put on a lower ball joint on my honda accord my issue is that I can't get the whole casle nut on the enoto get the pin in there. Do I need to put weight on the car then tighten it up again?
Are you sure the shank of the ball joint is inserted fully into the knuckle? You should NOT have to put the weight of the car on it. Sometime the new ball joints are really stiff and you have to push it around a little to get it oriented so it fits into the knuckle fully. Once you get it lined up correctly, it should slip fully into the knuckle and you should be able to put the castle nut on.
@@JohnsDIY yeah its in there as far as it will go. I got the casle nut on there like 3/4 of the way on and I even dropped the car and drove it over some speed bumps to hopefully seat it some more but that suckered is as in there as it's going to get .
Sorry, I should have made that clear -- this is an example of a bad ball joint. At least per my local Honda dealership, ANY play at all means that the joint should be replaced. If there is ANY discernible play in the joint at all then they will not pass it for inspection. In this case, the joint was definitely bad and I could hear it clunking when driving over bumps which went away when the ball joint was replaced. There is more information about my experience (including a DIY replacement guide) at the following forum: www.driveaccord.net/forums/15-7th-generation/381306-lower-ball-joint-replacement-lessons-learned.html
