Great video. Definitely need to do this to my 2 carcanos and new to me vetterli. Do you think I could take a once fired or even new cartridge measured to the 1.771 neck to base spec, drill out the primer pocket, and use a piece of brass rod as an insert in the pocket to let the bolt press against and chamber. From there, remove and measure the total length of the cartridge with the rod sticking out the pocket if any to find headspace. I want to get the gauges, but as a very low budget and by no mean certified measure. Just something to get an idea of what I’m working with.
Have you tried fire forming a cartridge with a light powder charge , then partial length sizing and reloading to see if accuracy improves and gas blow back stops ? I’m considering buying one of these rifles and would like to know if they are safe to shoot. Thanks
