Amazing find in a local charity shop yesterday, a Dutch army tent for five pounds £5 for a full canvas tent, could not believe my luck. In this video i take it out to check for damage and have a cup of tea. Hope you all enjoy
Hey Tim, great find for the money. But I have to say it’s not waterproof, I recommend taken a tarp with you if you go camping with it. I had one exactly the same and got soaked and needed to leave that night unfortunately. I hope you’ll have a great camping trip still. Take care ✌🏻
Yeh pal your not wrong they definitely don’t turn water like new tents but i will fabseal it and i like taking a tarp anyway, if i set it up right it would be a good porch. All the best pal
Thank you so much and the same to you. Im definitely into them now, had not been in one for over ten years i will definitely be keeping an eye out for more bargains. All the best to you
This is an unexpected and welcomed surprise Tim, I'll take a break from planning some urbex photography in the morning fog and enjoy your vid then get back to my scheming and plotting.
I’m trying to keep up with a video a month at the moment i know it’s not ideal but only another week until my driving test and i will hopefully be out on the road and able to at least double that. Thanks for taking time to watch and for your comment. All the best
@@TimRobson30 Ah lovely, best of luck with the test. Once a month is still great going Tim, naturally double that would be welcomed but your content is always enjoyable regardless of how often you upload.
@@KevinCullen thank you for saying so I’m glad you enjoy my videos. Already failed my test in November and getting dates for another has been a hassle, seems there is a huge backlog from lockdown.
Thanks very much. I have been trickling along making a video a month for a while as I’m focused on getting my driving license and my car on the road so i have more freedom to get out filming. All the best
I’ve had that problem before, I usually take a lamp with me and hang it up outside my tent so I remember where it is. Thanks for the comment and all the best
Next week I should be out for a camp with a couple friends, the 19th I have my driving test booked and if i pass I will be camping all over the place, should be a good year for it. All the best
Great to see you Tim and I am looking forward to your 1st camp of 2024! Awesome fog, I love me some foggy weather, fog is very rare where I live. Cheers from CB Lounge 2112!
Awesome find in a charity shop buddy grate bit of kit to be honest £65.00 at military mart so well done I can't get out at the moment as I'm waiting on a part knee replacement
I would say probably the cheapest you can find one unless you’re given one free. Sorry to hear about you knee I hope the surgery goes well you heal quickly and can get back out. All the best to you
It's great to see ya out and about in the new year. The new tent may prove to be a good one as I need a larger one that I can move around in.Thanks for sharing 😊
I think you would have been foolish to NOT buy it. Both tents I use were thrift shop purchases. The one I use for my motorcycle was les than $5.00 ( 2 - 3 pounds?). It's supposedly a 3-man tent, but it fits me and my riding gear, and nothing else. The other one I got about a year later from a different store, but it's identical to the first one, but twice the size. I use that one when my wife wants to go camping with me. It was less than $10.00. Are they the best tents ever? No, intact I don't trust them in heavy rain, so I always have a tarp to go with either one. A half decent tarp, can make up for an average tent, and it's good security when you're out there. So you don't need to spend much on a tent to enjoy the outdoors. You hit the jackpot with that one.
Awesome thanks for the comment. It’s always good to have low cost reliable kit, if it breaks or gets damaged you’re hardly out of pocket sounds like you got some good finds. Thank you for the comment and all the best
New to your channel, Tim but this was brilliant! Raw and real world camping and I loved seeing your thought processes as you worked out where to put the tent. You clearly know what you're doing. £5 well spent I say! Tent up, brew on ...smooth as silk! 🤓🇬🇧
A warm welcome and thank you for taking the time to comment. Glad you enjoyed it, those are the keys to a good camp shelter and then brew if I was staying the night a big fire too. All the best to ya
@@user-eh8cg4bp3y I’m in the middle of getting my driving license so not uploading as regularly as I used to but once I’m on the road I’ll be back out every week or two. Next camp I have planned though is on Saturday so there will be a video for that. All the best
I have a 15D silnylon tarp I usually take with me it’s so much lighter than my poncho and a lot bigger, I was thinking of using it over the tent and as a porch area. Thanks for the comment and all the best
@@TimRobson30 hey thats a good idee ....we did the same but with the poncho's ..extra dry'living' space in front or inbetween our tents ... And it is also possible to zip up multiple tents together 👍🏾👊🏽
@@je710817 I take up a lot of room as it is so I think it would be a good place to store my boots and pack outside but keep them dry. Thanks for the comments. All the best
I gave it a good shake out turned it inside out and beat the sand out of it before I packed up, a couple more tries at that and I should have it all out. All the best
Like I say in the video it’s a very noisy place in that wood, right between two roads and an industrial estate. Plenty nicer places to stay the night and I will be out at one of them on Saturday. All the best
Sat outside my house broken down unfortunately, it got a major coolant leak after my crash and I have not been able to fix it, most likely getting rid of it sadly. Thanks for the comment all the best
