For those who have asked, this video was recorded in late Feb/early March, prior to recent developments and requirements for social distancing. Thank you for your concern. Stay safe. Stay healthy.
Sorry to moan but I pay around £3.50-£4.00 on eBay U.K. free shipping for 50 anti static frosted sleeves and don’t like anyone promoting expensive sleeve like over £15 for only like 25 when the ones I get are perfect and cost me under £10 to replace all my inner sleeves around 200-300
Mike is an AMAZING GUY! i ordered just a few hrs before i found out about the 20% off and emailed him about it he ended up giving me the 20% discount then he then let me order some of the new crystal clear inner sleeves that would have made up the difference! top notch customer support!
@@Channel33RPM I just put in an order for more of the Dual pocket sleeves, but I'm looking forward to trying out the new clear inner sleeves. Stay healthy my friend
Simple law: Give the market what it wants and thou shalt succeed. Very impressed with these products and the mindset behind them. Makes me really WANT to support his company.
Call me a nerd, but as a 20 year manufacturing Quality Assurance guy (automotive/aerospace/and now medical device) it was cool to hear Michael speaking my language. I appreciate hearing the fine details regarding the inspection and manufacturing. The dual-pocket sleeves and the acrylic crate look awesome, and I will definitely be placing an order soon. Rock on guys!
LMAO. It's my manufacturing background....I can't help it! 20 plus years as either a manufacturing engineer or operations management can do that to you! Add 14 years as a combat engineer in the army, and it's nerd city,
Thanks Frank for having Mike on your channel and thank-you Mike for the shout-out. Mike: I know you know how I feel. Your outer sleeves are the #1 sleeves that I don't mind saying are the best. Forget the rest. Other company's had years to create a better outer sleeve but never invested any time. They got comfortable. You stepped up to the plate and delivered a better option for every level of record collector. Every video I do now, I try to always mention your sleeves as my sleeves of choice in my video descriptions. I been using your sleeves for almost a year now and my entire collection are using them. They still look like the day I sleeved them. I can not see any outer sleeve ever coming on the market that will be better. You sealed this one up my friend. 😉
glad i ran into this video when i did,i`m purchasing original pressing vinyl again after not buying any for years & having my old record player being caput & now having gone back to my vinyl collection vinyl storage solutions is amazing & prices are great glad i bought from them i`ve had vinyl damaged from other companies sleeves & bad cleaning solutions
Like many of you , I'm in the ( slow ) process of re-sleeving my entire collection , inner and outer ! Here's a point that needs mentioning : clean your records properly before re-sleeving, no point spending good money on sleeves , only to stick dirty records in ! Invest in a vinyl cleaning machine....it's worth it , the results are worth every cent ! Happy collecting 👍
As a retired vet, thanks for your service. If the sale is over by the time you get back, contact me first and I will ensure you get the discount, Thanks Mike
That clear storage box is so gorgeous! I really love how good the clear inner sleeves look. All great stuff. I love Vinyl Storage Solutions! Great video Frank!
Thanks Melinda! The storage box looks even better in person. It was a nice surprise. I just need to find the right place for it.... like in our family room, which we are in the process of re-flooring. Have a good day Frank
I like those dual pocket. That is how I store mine vinyl as well. I put the jacket in then anything that might be inside...such as original vinyl sleeves or catalogs, posters what have you..then I place the vinyl in a static free sleeve then put that on the backside. As far as double albums, I do basically the same but I put whatever content there is onside in the middle of the gate fold and the vinyl in two separate sleeves and again put them in the back, usually side one out.
VSS sleeves are the BOMB! I recently conserved my collection of 45 years in these, and I couldn't be more impressed! If you have a substantial collection of vinyl rotting away (like i did), these are totally worth checking out. They gave me a pretty decent discount on a very large order. Also, the fold-in outer sleeves keep the allergens to a minimum. I can't say enough good things about VSS products.
Just placed my first order, inner & outer. Looking forward to seeing them in action. I never use white paper sleeves, actually when I get a new record I avoid even taking the record out of one, I'll tear the paper sleeve and remove the record to avoid any more scuffs or anything,
I bought several packs of sleeves from Mike and I love them! They are a little more pricey than what I normally buy but they are worth it! Great quality! Highly recommended! Love the box, can't afford it. How about a regular wooden box with an acrylic end to show off that one record? Just a thought.
All of my 12” records are cleaned then put into Nagaoka Discfile 102 Anti Static 12" Vinyl Inner Record Sleeves then put back inside the sleeve that comes with the record. I also use Big Fudge High-Density Polyethylene outer sleeves, which are completely clear and will fit doubles and some triples. Records well protected and easy to slide in and out with static build up or scratching. Covers look great and easy to slide in and out of shelve storage without damage.
I am definitely going to order some of these inner and out sleeves. They really make the Records stand out and look amazing. The box looks pretty awesome too. Great work.
Modern picture discs sound really good for picture discs. If that's all that available, like Tool's Lateralus, then grab them, but if you have a choice, get the record. Even the good sounding pic discs have light hiss is the background, and I haven't played one that didn't have it.
Thanks for this video. As for PVC, you are right. However, it seems the PVC that is produced under the so called “Reach” regulations, do not transmit hazardous gasses. Another interesting experience I had, is the records that were stored for decades and had their jackets in PVC sleeves, only showed evidence of migrating chemicals if they had been in the jacket with a lined paper sleeve. No matter what the material the liner was made of, those records were not damaged at al. How different the records were that came out that were stored with just a paper sleeve without any kind of liner. The gasses from the old PVC sleeves did attack the record, these gasses even managed to pass through the jacket. And to make it even more complicated, all the above doesn’t mean your records are always damaged over time if stored in PVC outer sleeves. It has to do with storage conditions, temperature, humidity levels, ventilation and so on. I have stored several junk records without any protection directly in new PVC, so PVC that is manufactured under the Reach specifications. Time will tell........First impressions are promising. No evidence of sny damage at all, whereby the PVC did not loose any of its original flexibility and clarity. So no discolourations (that brownish color) or cracking at the seams. The records have been in storage for at least two years. However, if you do have records in storage that are in the old formulation PVC sleeves, check your records immediately and discard the old sleeves. Better yet, have them recycled. Recycled PVC in its purest form can be treated with new additives that do no harm, both health wise and for the protection of your records. Greetings from Hekelingen, Holland. Willem.
The 4mil dual pocket is my go to. Have my whole collection in his plastic, great service etc. Love not having to wrestle the albums in and out of the covers.
Loved this really fun and in-depth look at some products. My partner and I are moving at the end of the month, so once we get our storage all set up, I think some of these products will be a must!
I am definitely getting me the dual sleeve ones, I like having my vinyl out and ready to play w/o having to remove the jacket, etc. Thanks for the great video.
I am in the process of FINALLY re-sleeving all of my albums. I’m using a 4 mil spun cast poly outer sleeve and Mofi Inners. It is a very tedious process. I may try a batch of these dual pocket sleeves when I need more. Great info!
HA!!! You are 3s Company fan!! More and more reasons to like you!!! LOL. I have the series on dvd as well and I have watched every episode, in order about 5 times now. Never gets old. What a classic show of pure comedy! So cool to see even more options coming online for record collectors. That is very cool!
150$ Canadian, holy crap for a crate! I use the poly lined paper inner sleeves. I would not want to store the lp outside the record outer sleeve you risk of damage. The cardboard offers a little protection when you move the records going through them
I think it is all perspective.... I have records I bought brand new from the 70's in paper sleeves , no problems other than the paper sleeves are yellowing ... I bet if you put a paper sleeve manufacturer on... he will tell you the horrors of plastic sleeves ....
I buy only from vinyl storage solutions. Price doesn't matter to me. With those clear inner sleeves without a flap I turn the album a 1/4 turn so the open top is on the left when I put it in the outer sleeves. With a 1/4 turn turn to the right the open goes to the left. Yes when you get to Fargo you can see my collection but I'm south of Fargo. Thanx for the shout out Mike. The storage box looks great. I hate those white sleeves most of the time the album is hard to come out. The best product out there.
I ordered the dual flap sleeves (amongst other things). I really liked them once I snipped off one of the flaps, but it is worth noting that the seams are quite thin. I have had 5 of them split open thus far when putting the record covers in them (I'm careful).
Hey Frank, I change out those inner sleeves as soon as I possibly can. I've saved them in the album jacket to keep the record "original" but they make no more contact with the record itself. I have a couple packs of MOFI sleeves to go through then I purchased a test pack from a company called Kirmuss Audio. Got them half price at a customer appreciation night at the store I do my audio shopping at. Once those are gone I'll have to check out the inner sleeves from Vinylstoragesolutions. Keep on keeping us informed!
I have used many static sleeves and like them. But those that had been used along time. They would stick to the album causing issues. I do not like records on the back in the outer sleeve. I started using the white ones in the album. No problems with my over 2000 albums. My records sound great. My albums are of many genres. The picture disc I have are open from the pocket. Including David Bowie/Bing Crosby Little Drummer Boy.
I love Mike’s products. Saw him on your show last time he stopped by and now all my vinyls (just kidding 😀 ) are in his outer sleeves. Think I need the clear inner sleeves as well.
Great video, Frank! I should definitely shift more of my records away from their original paper sleeves. What I have done with many records is clean them and put them into new plastic inner sleeves, but I've often slid the plastic sleeves into the paper sleeves thinking that the paper sleeves added some reinforcement or support for the records to prevent warping. However, in reality, the paper sleeves probably make no difference in that regard. Thoughts? Another option is I put records in new plastic sleeves, but keep the original inner sleeve sitting side by side with the new plastic sleeve, particularly as you mentioned, if the inner sleeves had artwork, liner notes, etc. I've often wondered if collectors care about the original plain paper sleeve remaining with the album or whether that even matters (not that I do any selling yet, but it was something I had considered)? Any thoughts or advice, Frank or Mike, regarding keeping the paper sleeves for any purpose other than campfire kindling? Will that paper dust impact the record if it's not directly coming into contact with the record itself when it is inserted in a plastic sleeve? Thanks.
Mike has a cool business! Seems like great inner and outer sleeves, but expensive to order to Finland. I use Spincare UK and their audiophile inner sleeves(same as mofi, but cheaper), dynamic inner sleeves and their frosty style outer sleeves. Great place to order some vinyl accessories if you live in UK or EU.
Great Vid guys,I have ordered several of these sleeves from Mike and am very satisfied with the product.Great to see the new sleeves without the tape.I will have to try soon.Whats that Frank Marino album in the back?
I bought about 20 new audiophile plastic inner record sleeves way back in 1980 used them on my most cherished Lp’s However I recently noticed some of these sleeves have suddenly deteriorated basically turning to dust and flakes breaking at the slightest bend or touch. Luckily the records were not affected. I would think many of these plastic Audiophile grade sleeves do have a limited shelf life.
I think it should be noted that to this day, he charges just as much for shipping as the actual product and takes FOREVER to ship the sleeves! Fantastic product! If you wanna wait a month or longer for them to show up here in the US.
@@stevencrash Yes but I order stuff all the way from the UK and still the shipping isn’t this expensive. Doesn’t make sense. But he can’t control shipping costs, so I will be fair there. And he’s shipping out sleeves 10x as fast now, since I first posted this comment so I’m a satisfied customer
gowanis absolutely. However, with the duel pocket, once you seal the bottom with the tape, the record is then “completely sealed” in the sleeve as opposed to one open end on standard outer sleeves, giving you the ultimate in jacket protection. These sleeves would be more ideal to use on your “more valuable” records.
This was a great video. I love this channel. I am going to order ASAP. What shelving are you using for your CD's in the corner? Just wondering I like. Thanks for doing this video.
The worst paper sleeves are in import pressings. White thick stiff paper inner sleeves I change immediately. I will rip those away from the record rather than slide the record out and replace them because of you rip them off and take the record out then you avoid potential scuffs/scratches.
It would be nice to move back to keeping the LP inside the sleeve till it is inside the playback unit in that you slide sleeve and all into the playback unit till a click is heard then you withdraw the sleeve then it starts playing till the end of that side then to play the other side you slide the sleeve back in till it clicks then withdraw it then flip it then slide it back in till a click is heard then you slide the sleeve out and that side starts playing when it stops playing then you slide the sleeve back in till a click is heard then you withdraw the sleeve, you would not need the whole of the CED machine just a player that will play LPs that are enclosed in the sleeve akin to a CED cleeve, #12voltvide I know you had to repair many of these units but they were light years ahead of anything that came before.
I use the MoFi sleeves, it took a while to get my whole collection in inner and outer sleeves and a lot of money. But, once you do it it's easy cause you just have to sleeve the new ones you buy. His products look good also, especially those super clear sleeves
Hi Pete! I also use MOFI sleeves, but they started to get expensive for me since i live in Finland. Expensive to order here. I found the same inner sleeves without the Mofi text from Spincare. Their internet store is based in UK so i order from there these days. They go by the name audiophile inner sleeves.
When I first started collecting vinyl again a few years ago I found some acid-free paper sleeves on Amazon that got great reviews. I don’t know how good those are compared to these plastic ones but I’m done with new vinyl and have all the old ones I need. Perhaps I’ll upgrade to these plastic ones one day. I could afford the cheapest ones I guess. But I’ll probably just stay with what I have. Even my oldest records which are 34 years have held up well in their original sleeves. But again, I’m not an audiophile, just a rocker :)
Thanks. This may well solve one of my problems with single pocket sleeves. Completely agree on white paper inners, I just toss them. I am a bit conflicted about other inner sleeves, like black paper, or paper with plastic lining. Do you consider that "original" therefore should be retained as part of the original record? I am also very concerned about the effect of the pulp covers with lots of acid in them onto liner notes, booklets, posters etc. I put everything into separate inner sleeves (Mofi so far), but eventually the amount of additional sleeve material makes it hard to put everything Into the original album cover. Love the dual slot system for that. May well switch my entire collection to dual slots. Only about 400 records, but still a pain in the butt.
Here in the UK, HMV only sell clear PVC lp sleeves with a flap. Whilst they are nice and clear they do not sell sleeves for gatefold/double lps. They sell them for 75p each.
You are blessed man, you have Spincare over there in UK. I live in Finland and order their audiophile and dynamic inner sleeves. Also their frosted outee sleeves.
I didn't mind the sleeves without the window too much, but the ones with windows like the ones in the box you showed were always a problem, tearing when you tried to get the record back in. I have some LP's from the 1950's- a few from London that had a kind of half-glossy thin paper, and some from USA that were actually wax paper. What about those? And how about the plastic inner sleeves in some like Decca subsidiaries and even Tico? (only a couple of those survived.)
Oh wow. You have the Lucifer's Friend first album. I heard it on YT and Spotify not long ago. Love it. John Lawson sounds like Ronnie Dio on the first track. As regards to some of the white very cheap inner sleeves. They also have a tendancy to rip and come apart. More money for the labels though. The only PAT Testing I knew of was the testing of electronical equipment used in the workplace due to safety.
