I love your style man. I have an 81 1100i which I just bout completed, but see that I still need to do the timing belts, valves, and thermostat. Everything else has been done. My first project, but it looks like a new bike now - just beautiful. Synching the carbs was the biggest improvement thus far. Thank you!
I agree with the extra bright leds. I'm replacing all my gl 1500 lights with extra brights.im also lite up like a Christmas tree.lol.i truly agree 100% with what you say .love the videos watch as many as possible. I learn something new everyday from your videos.
you prolly dont give a damn but does someone know of a trick to log back into an Instagram account?? I was dumb lost the login password. I love any tips you can give me!
@Jamari Maverick i really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Mr. Darwino, I bought my 81 wing for 500 here in Missouri. Super stock, and only needed a starter. I rode it for 2500 without needing a carb clean. Cleaned it, and got it purring. Now.. I plan on moving to FL around June and plan on riding my 81 gl1100 to Florida and i wanted some tips for my journey. I weight 150 soaking, and 5'6". I've done most of that but i wanted tips for my future ride. Thanks
So glad I found your channel again while looking through 80's wing videos. You're hilarious. And yeah, Avon Venom/Cobra tires rule. Hoping to buy an older wing to strip one down. This video is super helpful.
I can get a bike like this but the guy says the engine is seized. is it common for the carb floats to get stuck and fill up the cylinder and hydro lock it. only has 20k miles and no rust. guy says the other guy never changed oil. so idk what to do. only wants 300 bucks for it.
one of em is a bolt on. some of the VT1100's you end out having to gut em but some fit. The ones I've had to gut though I think were VT750's when I was still in the "quick acceleration" phase of my life. commonly you are only going to find 3.8:1 and 3.1:1 Honda rears - my red one with the 2.9:1 is a custom cut ring and pinion in a VT1100 pumpkin with about 2mm cut out to make the ring gear fit.
Dawino6260 I'm a proud 1981 GL1100 owner.......love the bitch.......you mentioned final gears from a VT700 to decrease RPMs on the GL. Are the gears hard to change once the final drive is removed......or should I take the two final drives to a ring and pinion shop and have them swap the gears out? any other words of wisdom? Raymond
I'm gonna talk to the owner too and see if he's willing to have his mechanic check the bike's vitals out before I hand over the cash because I know it's been sitting in the store for at least three, four years. Anyway, thanks for the great videos, and stay cool Bubba.💗
@@dawino6260 so the 1100 or 700 would im prove my MPG do you have any other tips to improve MPG as I am touring Europe this summer that would be great 👍 thanks for your help will keep in touch with you

If you weren't in Florida, the land of gators, I'd bring my bike, when I get it, down there for you to give the once over. I'm about 98% sure I'm gonna get the '80 GW gl 1100. I'm gonna write this checklist down, and when I go get it, I'm gonna ask if all this stuff had been done recently.
I'm in Venice .... call ahead - 941-451-4318 ... have to grab me from the house these days - I haven't physically been safe to drive for several months... but its free if I just hand you wrenches and tell you how...
drop a weekends worth of work changing timing belts ALL fluids greasing everything, taking apart and cleaning ALL electrical connections - Your best friend in the world is a set of Accel 140403 super coils and not much more money than replacing the 30 year old weakened stock coils... If its only been a few months sometimes you can just drain the bowls and tank and hit em with fresh gas instead of pulling em apart
Areal Libra my first guess would be a bad oil ring(s) or a gasket possibly leaking oil in, but for it to reach clear out your exhaust without being burned up I’d say don’t even think about starting it until you fix the issue if you value your motorcycle
AMEN on checking those miserable fucking glass fuses and FRAGILE fuse holder whose poor grip causes much electrical unhappiness. If yours is trashed, you can replace with an aftermarket blade fuse block or individual blade fuse holders. You can get blade circuit breakers instead of fuses. I prefer breakers but to each his own. Inspect wiring thoroughly. Many Wings have accessories added by morons. I've seen wire nuts, lamp cord, and one disaster where the owner soldered solid wire across the failed fuse holders! If you need to buy a wiring harness you need the EXACT Honda part number, or wire your own properly. The white plastic connectors on old Japanese wiring harnesses can become brittle and crumble. Be gentle with them.
I just picked up a really clean 82 interstate.. me: so how does it run? Al : Runs like a top , if it had a battery!! Me: When was the last major service, you know like the timing belts , valve adjustment ? Al: Never !! Me : WTF!! Never??!?! Al: 80,000 miles, Never , But I guarantee she purrs like a fat cat!! Me: A fat cat Huh?!? Al: 400.00 Me: She's gone!! Lol. Is this motor headed for the spectacular explosion 💥?
Spoken like a true poser. Harley = The most inferior motorcycle of the last 35 years. Although if you want to look like a tough guy, or just want a Harley badge then by all means...
Jim Wilson I am a Harley guy and I would get an old goldwing. Nothing is as reliable as Honda. Hell even the founder of hells angles said he would ride a wing if he could. It's in his book that should tell you something
