I identify as Chicano. Growing up Mexicans would talk all kinds of shit. I never knew why. One day I asked them why all the hate. They said cuz I was born in 🇺🇸. Really!? My own hate me cuz I was born on the other side? So I started to read on Mexican culture and one day came upon Chicano books. I read on the Chicano Movement and all that stuff and found something I could say this fits me. This is who I am. I never met a chicano who didn't like me cuz I didnt speak spanish they way they thought that I should. I was accepted for who I was. And now with more Chicanos embracing their indigenous roots it feels like it is evolving. I know not all Mexicans and Chicanos share the same view. It is what is.

I identify as Chicana. I found out the hard way when I went to Mexico that I wasn't considered Mexican I was told " You're not Mexican you're a Chicana. You come from the other side (meaning the U.S.)" Too Mexican for the Americans and too American for Mexicans!. #Chicana problems..

im chicano i grew up in L.A. Wilmington calif my parents were born in Mexico i played. football and baseball in high i grew up just speaking english a spoke a little spanish to ny pop and mom my brothers played in rock & roll bands they played american pop chicano style farmer john we had low rider cars we used to go cruising on the bulevard and go to parties.chicanos and mexicanos are different mexicans dont talk english just spanish they have dont own clicks but now im a born again christian not catholic my church is apostolic we baptized in tbe name of Jesus christ we love everybody now i try to speak spanish i speak only chicano

My daughter was born aki but shes a straight up sinaloense when asked. And she is, man even her accent is apurate plebe when she talks to her brother. Im a proud jefito when i see that. I don't have a problem with identity; I am okay with mexicano, Chicano, Mexican American. You raza saying that you went to Mexico and didn't feel Mexican anymore allow people from Mexico to let you feel that way. I lived all over Mexico for 4-5 years, and I would tell Mexicans that I knew Mexico better than they did because I knew the whole country and the culture. Don't let your own raza take away your ethnic identity and educate those who are ignorant of the incredible cultural and linguistic diversity within the Mexican community on both sides of the border.
