thank god someone else noticed this. I thought I was caught in the mandala effect. I have watched every episode easily over a 100 times and have this version on my computer so it tripped me out when netflix had a different version.
Ah thank you so much! Currently watching the show from beginning to end for the first time and I noticed immediately something was 'off', without ever even watching the original version... I already thought they swapped a song for music rights-reasons. Thanks for uploading the original version!
I love gimmicks where a particular thing -- whatever it may be -- affects a dramatic character in a certain way. In "Support Your Local Gunfighter", the sound of the ball rolling around a roulette wheel would send Jim Garner into a trance, and.lead him to bet all his money on a particular number. In "Cat Ballou", Lee Marvin could only be sobered up by EXACTLY the right amount of booze. Even on "Cheers", Rebecca also had her own musical weakness: the Righteous Brothers singing "You've Got That Lovin' Feeling".
"Shout" was the song used in the original version of the episode. CBS replaced it "My Mind is Gone". They've done quite a bit of music replacements since they got a hold of the show. They also replaced "I Fought the Law" with generic music in the episode "Grease", replaced "Monster Mash" with "Vampire Twist" in "Bar Wars V: The Final Judgement" and even removed the Cheers gang singing "Those were the Days" (in Frasier's house) with generic music (even altering the part where Frasier joins in the singing). I really want CBS to release the unaltered version of these episodes. Work something out with the rights holders. The original version of the episode "Suspicion" is still on the DVDs release before CBS acquired Paramount Television's library. The discs in the foldout boxed titled "Cheers: The Complete [#] Season" are before they made music replacements. CBS DVD released The Complete Eighth Season before they decided to do the music replacements.
I actually just watched this episode an hour ago! lol and looked this up,cause I was sure I remembered it being shout!... BUT! I don't know maybe they replaced it again, cause the episode I saw today they used, I got my mojo working!
I'm watching it right now. Came on here, bc I restarted the show, and Sam is wearing a diff shirt. Thought somehow I changed the episode, ??? But, No. It's S4 E14 Suspicion - SHOUT is the song that came on
thank you EVER so much, Mimin83! ever since I started a livejournal account, I was meaning to post this video there 'cause it's my #1 antidepressant (as well as the whole TV show) but then I never figured out how to cut out a fragment from a video file... and then my harddrive went on the fritz... and now it turns out you already did! thank you again.
I’m so confused why this was changed for Hulu to be another song. NickAtNite showed this real version for years so if syndication could do it I don’t get why Hulu can’t.
+Yesica1993 Probably because they paid for Isley Brothers song for a certain number of times, after that they had to replace it. Shout was most likely the one they used.
Here's a link to the song that ended up replacing "Shout". It's called "My Mind is Gone" by Lil' Ed & The Blues Imperials. They rock! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bXf5b-rKzZs.html
This is NOT the song that Carla danced to... this song was dubbed into the show. The original song was one called My Mind's Gone, I Ain't Got No Sense - by Howlin Wolf I believe.
