@@antonriniti9653 I can't say that I was able to spot everything and I think I know what happened near the end, but I am still thoroughly impressed! 👏 This is an incredible routine!
@@antonriniti9653 yes you should certainly do this ! Do you think you have something now that could fool them ? But that would be great to see you perform on this stage again. Very nice work on the first one !
I'll see your mentor quote and I'll raise you my own: 'If the thing you love is a person, you'll never be short on the riches of life to share with them'
Yeah in my case they're initial guess was disguised with so much code that even I did not understand it. Thankfully they edited that off television because I probably looked silly not knowing what they were saying.
SykoTech Yeah they even editing a lot of the conversation. Believe it or we talked for over 11 minutes. They were fairly confused but in the end they got enough
This trick was less about fooling them, and more about entertaining them and I feel like he succeeded there completely. The fact that he is combining great slight of hand with amazing pool shots makes both more impressive. And the comedy was absolutely on point.
Well thank you my friend. That is a perfect explanation of my act. For what it is worth, I am auditioning again for next season and the new act I have developed is entertaining and FOOLING. Fingers crossed
Cracking a ball on a slate table with another ball is a great way to ensure you don't buy another drink, because it will get you kicked the heck out of that place. Lmao.
If I am a betting man (and I am) then I bet you won't see the ending coming of this routine ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sspOVUkZGY4.html Let me know
I'll be honest, the card sword trick has never impressed me much. But watching him on stage is just so entertaining. His story telling, the comedy and they way he turns a dull trick into something exciting is just awesome. If he was performing, I'd pay to go see his show. Very well done.
Wow, earlier today I made a comment and within an hour he replied, and it wasn't even like a thanks or a cool, it was well thought out and that's what makes me appreciate this guy, it's that he will do anything to surprise or make you happy, thankyou
The patter related to this trick is so smooth and well-delivered, that it makes the surprise moments 10X more shocking and surprising. When the pool cue appeared out of flame, your voice doesn't change at all or react to what just happened - amazing amount of practice and polish. I would really like to see a whole 60 minute + show of this kind of stuff. Really amazing throughout.
Thanks so much. That is a really well thought out and perceptive comment. Most wouldn’t even give that a second thought. You should see my full show. It truly is a masterpiece
I genuinely like how he replies to every comment here and there are hundreds of them. Apart from that, a very beautiful trick and I am so astonished by his pool skills
Can we just take a moment to appreciate how Anton has been actively responding to comments and having small dialogues with the viewers? Props my man. Also, incredible trick, thank you for your entertainment man, keep it up
Thanks Sean. I made that promise on Day 1 over 3 years ago. No comment goes unanswered. As a performer, I feel it is my obligation. If you guys can take the tine out of your day to watch the video and either ask a question or make a remark then I am mire than happy to respond. I’ve certainly designed the routine to be a learning aid for younger magicians. Or even people who just enjoy magic I’d love someday to have the opportunity to really speak about character development and routining as that is where true magic lies I do appreciate your shout out. Happy Hustling...I mean Holidays 😉
@@antonriniti9653 Happy holidays to you too. Just wanted to make sure your efforts and commitment to your audience wasn't left unnoticed and underappreciated ❤️
Man, it's really been a while since this aired. I had no idea it was uploaded. Not gonna lie, I consider it one of the better performances to come across Penn and Teller's stage. It may not have fooled them, but boy was it top notch. I'd pay good money to get into a show with such on point theatrics and sleight of hand.
Well thank you. Yes I am quite proud of the performance as a whole. Unlike most performers, I did not go in with the goal of simply Fooling them. I wanted to show younger magicians how to put together an act with a developed character, consistent internal logic, and patter to keep the trick moving forward. I believe far too many performers, simply come up with as many random effects but the performance lacks a logical sequence or even reason for performing in the first place.
@@N1yaw Here is one of my favorite routines called "Unholy Grail" I bet you won't see the ending coming ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sspOVUkZGY4.html
I'm a pool player and snooker player. I really enjoyed this. I think the pool players at the pool hall I go to would love to see a whole show like this. Keep fiddlestix in Canton, Ohio in mind if you're ever in Ohio. 😁. I'm sure everyone would love a magic/pool act. I never got to see Cats play live. Would have loved to but I got to watch him on TV as a kid. That's when ESPN used to show pool tournaments on their channel. Yes they really did. But I love pool and loved your act here. Thank you.
I would love to perform for your group some day. If I may say so myself, I put on a really great Trick Shot Magic Show. If I had one show to do for the rest of my life, that would be it.
Well thank you Joseph....that makes your comment the most well put together feedback !! I do appreciate the complement as to me, that is the difference between a "professional act" and someone doing "tricks." I believe having a complete routine which starts with character development, a logical story (also known as a Through Line) and a Plot Arc (meaning there is a continuous flow to the performance as a whole.
I seriously re watch this once a week, it’s fantastic. Some magicians do comedy really well but then the tricks are gimmicky, and then some do the tricks perfect but the comedy falls flat because it’s not natural to them. You pull off both together so perfect, and it feels completely natural. It’s one of those acts that doesn’t come across as overly rehearsed and stiff, it’s more like you just had an idea for a trick and did it right then and there. Obviously I know you’ve bloodied your hands practicing every day but you pull it off like it’s just a natural gift.
No wonder the video is getting so many views lately...thanks :) Yes that has been a signature trick in my act for over 20 years, but to be honest with you, the "routine" you watch and re-watch was completely new for me. It was a pain-staking process to decide which tricks and moments to include so the performance as a whole has an internal logic. I am huge proponent in maintaining the credibility of the character and basing all decisions off of that. Many have asked, and the story is absolutely true. In fact, I went on to hustle him a few more times including an epic scam with a chess board which I will have to tell on this forum. Now, I do remember one time that he beat me but rather than paying him the cash I gave him back the watch I had stolen off his wrist without his knowing. Then he looked at me and said, "I thought I finally beat you only to realize you got me again !!"
Anton Riniti I would love to hear that story, you should do an interview similar to Richard Turner on your life and back story. I would love to hear more about your grandma and childhood.
The best story tellers are those who have heard the most stories. This is a must add. I am now working on a D&D character that is inspired by Chef Anton and I couldn't be happier about it.
That was hands-down, at the very least, one of the 3 coolest & most impressive performances I've ever seen on this show.... maybe *the* best. And it was also humbling, as I now realize that I'm _not_ the best pool player in the world, not by a long shot. 😂
Well thank you. That makes your comment one of the 3 coolest if not the most impressive comments I have had. I do appreciate your taking the time to write in. Glad you enjoyed the performance, and yes, as a billiard guy yourself, you can appreciate all that went into the routine. Check out my other RU-vid Videos. I have some great trick shots including the Sky Scraper Shot, Out of Mouth, and Impossible Prediction.
You said it. You have to at least have known where to look for confirmation, and even then - you have to admit you didn't really know until you looked. In a sense that is actually the premise of the show. (P&T reversing the tables and doing a trick for David Copperfield really underlines this.)
@@KennedyGoodkey Well stated my friend. When performing for a live audience, it is much easier to misdirect as there is a lot happening. On TV, you have a fixed frame that does not allow misdirection plus the ability to slow down and rewatch. In your example, if Cooperfield had the ability to watch it again, he would bust them. In fact, they would probably bust all of us. Good thing people do not have DVRs in their brain
There was actually one act on season 1 (I think) where Penn flat out admitted that they were only able to bust the guy because they had watched him perform the same act on RU-vid a few weeks before and figured it out from there; otherwise, they would have been completely stumped.
This was such an amazing show every entertaining and funny... Most magicians try to force humor and it's soo cringy.... this was genuinely entertaining and funny
Thanks Shane. That’s really kind of you. My goal going into the show was to showcase a 5 minute professional act to teach younger performers how to act naturally and create a character driven show that is both entertaining and funny. Glad you enjoyed it !! 👊
For what it is worth, it is the #1 selling book in pool and will pay for itself the first night you own it. The book or the DVD (or both) and top notch professionally made. As you can tell from the performance, I don't do anything half ass. You will love it
When I was 14, I got to shoot a game of pool with Minnesota Fats (aka Rudolf Wanderone). Well, I say I did. I was selected to play him. I got to sit and chalk my cue for 20 minutes while he ran the table, telling joke after joke after each shot. One of the best 20 minutes of my pool playing career! I loved this performance! You combined pool, which I love, with magic, which I also love, along with a great patter of BS, which I also love! Absolutely wonderful!
So sorry to hear that Ben. I am glad my performance helped a little bit. Mom always told me "The sun will still come up tomorrow and just think, there are a million people out there whose life is in even greater turmoil so be happy and thankful for what you have"
I really enjoyed this performance! Wonderful patter, and integrating pool artistry is terrific. I would love to have had a beer with his granny, though I would NEVER play pool with her!
Well thank you. Sounds like you have discerning taste !! Yeah Grandma was the best. She would take you for everything you had then make you Spaghetti and Meatballs !!
Thank you Ghost. I am actually quite proud of the routine. I have always said that what separates the professionals from the others is the ability to create a "character" and then develop a "routine" around his personality. This helps create a performance which is entire "act" and not simply a trick.
I THINK I know what happened at the end, I saw a semi similar fool us performance broken down as to how he did it. But the appearing pool cue? That was awesome. The entire act was amazing!
Truly impressive dude. Loved everything about that act. I was instantly hooked and didn't want it to end. The charisma and skill was next level. Bravo 👏
I know the finale of the trick by heart, it's a classic. But I swear, for the life of me, I can't pinpoint the moment the sleight of hand takes place. That's amazing.
@@antonriniti9653 Despite knowing what Penn's talking about regarding lifting, I can't spot it either - the clip at 4:15 (where you show the card as you push it back into the deck) suggests otherwise, unless you did some quick card mechanics while the camera view switched. With the performance shown in the video, I'd guess that you are really good with breaks, so good that you can use them off the table too. It is a really great trick!
@@antonriniti9653 the give away for me was at 3.10 - I don't think the audio did you any favours there, unfortunately. I liked it, although I think the high energy would make most people on edge and alert to some mishappening, as opposed to act as the intended distraction. I thought the 'pretending' to forget what her card was was also not as fluid as it needed to be. The palming and the cueing was where the real skill was.
@@AF-lt2fr Actually the problem with that moment was the camera blocking. They needed me to keep my hands at a position that was not natural for me at all. Normally that move is invisible.
Thanks buddy...yes those are my two passions as well as winning free drinks. Glad you enjoyed the unique character and performance. For me, that is the highest compliment
I've seen this video for a couple if time since 3 years ago and still one of my favourite act. I remembered using the Chef acronym as a nickname when I was performed magic on the street (hope you don't sue me, it just one time:)). Stay healthy sir and happy new year
I love the idea of using pool for magic! The balls are such a natural distraction, I know I completely missed you putting the card onto the cue until Penn and Teller mentioned it and I watched the video again. This might not have fooled them, but it's definitely one of the more enjoyable acts I've seen on that show!
Wow, what an amazing entertainer. It would have been a fun experience even without the card trick worked in. Anton I really hope you never give up on your dream because it's awesome to see someone passionately devoted to their craft. It doesn't matter if you fooled us or not, you still won us all over. Thank you for the magic and the laughs.
cant wait to watch you again ! definitely was fooled and entertained. Unlike other tricks i dont even want to know how you did any of those, very cool performance ! :)
I often get caught up trying to figure out the different moves magicians use in their routines, but this guy's character is awesome and distracting enough, I simply enjoyed the performance and allowed the magic to surprise and please.
Paul...you understand me completely. That is my mantra when developing a routine...Share a passion, wrap it around a fascinating character, and ultimately give the audience something memorable that goes behind the trick itself
This was probably one of my favorite acts I've seen on this show. I love the idea of combining pool and magic. Two things I love but two things I'm also terrible at.
Thanks Jesse. That really kind. If you’re ever in LA I give lessons too. Check out the Pool Hustler’s Handbook as it’s perfect for the non player to still win free drinks
One of my favourite acts, not just cause of the trick but because of how incredibly entertaining you are. I really hope you'll return to the show one day!
@@antonriniti9653 Thats the thing I like a lot about them, the show would be really pointless since the audience would know the trick, but they have really creative ways xD
@@kenan229 Exactly. There is enough information for those who want to know but not enough to expose the secret to the lay audience. It is a fine balance for sure
That’s a great compliment. Especially the latter half. I think far too many performers don’t have a logical routine that has a consistent “through line”. They simply go on to attempt to fool with convoluted tricks that don’t make any sense
I was hoping he would have a pool ball in one hand and another on the table and we he struck them together I wanted to see a bunch of little pool balls appear while the large vanish.. Love the personality though.
I absolutely love how P&T describe the routine trying hard not to just say the main parts lol. This is one of those great routines that's complexity is in the banter and performance itself. Would love to see a full set.
Well thanks so much. Yes, for me it is an entire performance which necessitates building a character, an interesting back story, reason for performing, through line, and a pay off. While this shot is the finale in my shows, the rest of the show is equally as incredible. Look up Chef Anton's Blind Fold Shot and Chef Anton's Sky Scraper Shot on RU-vid.
finding the card was the boring part + i saw it clear as day, you put it on before poking at the cards, even without slow motion i was able to see it, but more interesting part were the trick shots, because there's no sleight of hand or magic in it, it's pure skill. nicely done.
Excellent routine. Great blend of comedy, magic (gimmicks and sleight of hand), and skilled pool game. Very entertaining and unique. One thing I especially like about it is that the cue makes for a much more natural, logical prop than the common card sword. Much better fit. Awesome performance. Hope I can catch you at the Magic Castle sometime.
Thanks Benjamin....I perform at the Castle every other month. Yes I think it is imperative for an act to have an internal logic. Everything starts with the character and then you develop your effects, through-line, patter, attitude etc. Glad you can appreciate the work that goes into a professional routine
I do magic myself and I was so surprised that I kinda saw that double lift and you also pushed the queen of diamonds in to half so we wouldn't see the signature which was not on there but on the other card you've magically stole! Respect! Very nice routine and also pool skills!!
Yes many moves are invisible in that you can't see something happening but magicians know that something happened. Oddly for the double, the producers needed me to keep my left arm at an odd angle for camera blocking so it even felt unnatural to me. And as you know, there is a lot of thought that goes into a routine to make it see fluid and natural such as picking up the pool cue before the deck. That only "leaves me with one hand" so cutting the deck, placing the card half way in, and pushing it in with the right hand all makes sense because I had to do it one-handed. Otherwise, that whole sequence seems suspicious. I have had assistants who swear they "saw the sticker" as the card was being pushed in. Nothing like NLP to help that process along. Thanks for the comment
Have watched this many times. Classy as a gentleman and slippery like a snake. Love it! Now just teach me how to stack pool balls so i never have to pay for a drink again. ;)
Well thank you. That is really kind. The secret to balancing balls is in my book and DVD. scoundrelsstore.com/product/fool-us-special/ And yes, the book/dvd pays for itself the first night that you have it.
It's a shame that the most entertaining and fun tricks like this one don't pass and don't recieve the credit they deserve, because they are based on classic moves, that P&T knows so well, yet the most blunt, soulless or even annoying cheap tricks can win, because P&T don't pay full attention, or they don't expect for modern hightech gadgets...
Deep Purple Thanks Deep Purple. Glad you appreciate the performance and the thought/effort that goes into a professional routine with character building, through line, and internal logic. (Fist Bump)
Thanks my friend. It was taken down for years (the person who originally posted it did not have the correct permissions) Three years of battling RU-vid got it white listed finally, so hopefully it is up for good now
@@antonriniti9653 YT has turned into it's own worst enemy for genuine content creators. I hope this gets the bump it deserves but there's no making up for lost revenue unfortunately. Be great to see you get back on P&T for some more tricks.
Thank you....the comedian in me wanted this to be the comment not to respond to....but I just couldn't do that to you. I appreciate your taking the time to write in. - Chef
Hi Rob thanks for the compliment. While the show always does editing I did insist to keep the “exposed camera view” for those who want to know how it all works.
There’s some serious skills in being a hustler that doesn’t get shot. A lot of tact in making someone smile while they hand their life savings to you lol. I can see why being an entertainer and conman can be one in the same.
I’ve always said that knowing how magic works doesn’t make it less enjoyable. You just appreciate the performance in a different level than other. Well done 👍
When I first started watching Fool Us, I really thought this trick was very obvious and very mediocre. Like obviously yes, he forced the card onto the pool cue after stealing it from the deck, big deal. But now that I've been studying up on card magic, I really appreciate this routine a lot more! There are a lot of good moves and sleights and it is very well done!
Well thank you my friend. Professional routines are normally filled with subtleties that only the astute viewer can appreciate. Congrats on appreciating magic on a new level. It is actually quite fun once you know how its done.
Anton Riniti Less a foiling trick and more a unique, entertaining trick. I caught stuff but I still enjoyed ur routine more then a majority of the acts on this show
Thanks Armaan. I am quite proud of the performance as a whole. A few different camera angles would have disguised sleights but I was the one who insisted on them.
i dont know any magic but i play a lot of pool! really cool trick, my favorite was actually the appearing cue because it's so long :) is that a masse cue? looks longer than a shaft by itself but it's shorter than a usual cue
i understood everything from the trick.. Except how did he "push" the queen of diamonds in the middle of the routine..(is it like an extra card) did he force the queen of diamonds? Great Act Yo.... Loved everybit of it..
Glad you liked it Mr Bean. She had a FREE CHOICE of any card in the deck including the ones that were face up. And the Queen of Diamonds did go back into the center of the deck. Check the moment my hand goes into and out of the hat for the real secrets
Ah you are one of the few viewers that knows I actually do cook !! Thanks I am super proud of the performance and the cookbook. May all of your meals be “Cooked with Love” and “Served Family Style”
