I remember this. The crust was meh, the cheese was only flakes of parmesan instead of proper mozzarella, but the pizza sauce was amazing. I wish you could still get it or that there was a reasonable facsimile available.
They still make this, but it doesn’t come with cheese anymore. It’s surprisingly a pretty decent base. Make it into two very thin pizzas on half sheet pans. Use your own cheese and toppings. Par bake the crust for 4-5 minutes before building your pie. Trust me, it’s quite good
That pizza was to real pizza what their canned pasta is to real pasta: Thin, tasteless, and embarrassing to eat for anyone who isn't a child or a poor college student.
that looks disgusting. I'll just take a wild guess (my best educated guess) and say it went nowhere, because I don't remember the "pizza" and I lived and died for Chef Boyardee growing up. Had Chef Boyardee for lunch almost every day at noon while watching 'Leave it to Beaver'
FANoftheLEAFS_RAPTORS_JAYS dude, it's actually still around. I think Chef Boyardee started their pizza kits in the 60's and still sell them. Haven't seen them here in Toronto but i'm almost positive they still sell them in some grocery stores.
These started selling back in the early 60's I believe. There's an old black and white commercial for the chef boyardees pizza. But yeah, it looks gross to me as well. Lol
