1984 The General & The Cambridge firm await Chelsea. They have up to 150 lads to give them a warm welcome which ended in a 5 year sentence for the general. Bloody carnage.

Two lads who got slashed in the Farmers Rest had actually been fishing all night and had stopped for a pint on the way home. They weren't even football fans - Chelsea who did that were absolute scum.

What goes around comes around. Chelsea badly cut up Newcastle Scarfers at the Farmers Rest Pub. It happened a lot in those days tbf and lads claiming they only targeted like minded lads arn't being entirely honest- Everyone was seen as fair game in the 80's as even scarfers were bang up for it in many cases but clearly not all.

I was born 81 saw one fight at football 85-92. Only watched 3-6 matches per year. Only remember once violent clash. Way on crappy car park on left of Wembley way. Giant Tranmere fan pissed up. He swung a few. Smacked a few good. Then his mates surrounded giant mulleted oaf. I got dragged away by old man and grandad. Think the guy even had a point lol about luck and ref. I only remember tiny bit of problems at football. Never saw 50 V50 before game outside stadium like in films, or missiles thrown. Was it because was in main stand / Non hooligan end entrance. Or that there was a principal don't attack groups of supporters with normal season ticket holders 30+yrs. Sheep skin jackets, thermos of Bovril. Albert flukes pools. Stuck behind a big roof support. Freezing cold. And big loud bloke row Infront going to swear, then says sheezus christ. MY TEAM WAS CRAP , BEEN GOOD. BACK CRAP AGAIN.

@@incognito96 Knife crime is much worse now. Chelsea headhunters were from Reading nasty violent racists. My experience of the beginning of football hooliganism was that in London anyway it slightly preceded the rise of the skinhead but its explosion coincided with the skinhead fashion. Skinheads spread like wildfire and the fashion was drawn from the influences of teenagers at the time. Mod style working clothing I,e boots and clothing and Ivy League fashion plus the influence of rude boy style even the cut in partings were taken from the black style of haircut called a skiffle At Stamford bridge in those late sixties there were many young black skinheads. It was to be honest mainly fist fights and it wasn’t the majority that were really up for it mostly just singing and there were the leaders Danny Harkins aka Eccles who by his own admission was not a fighter. Then mixed race one armed Babs. First away game which were on football special trains we went to Coventry took over there ground and on the way back the whole train was wrecked and we were taken off at siding. The away games were great we were banned from the crucial promotion decider at Wolves but somehow Harkins got thousands of tickets and it was incredible like an invading army. It all turned shit when the NF stared targeting football fans and the small but intimidating group of politically motivated racists turned the atmosphere toxic towards even our own players Paul Cannoville and I stopped going for several years and I think those head hunters were part of that influx. Much as the environment was not conducive to woman and children football then was an outlet for the masses of working class people. Chelsea were always a mad club false dawns in the sixties and seventies then almost out of existance then the resurgence with the great Italians and the Romans loudsamoney days and now this hedge funded confederacy of dunces but once you’ve nailed yer colours to the mast you have to keep them flying whatever the weather

West Ham's ICF were all arrested too but we're smart and questioned the old bills evidence. They used carbon dating to prove their notes were amended after it had been submitted and basically they committed purgery (they were lying under oath). Case got thrown out, all West Ham were acquitted and given large amounts of compensation. Lots of old bill had to retire as they made themselves look like utter fools. The ICF lads sent the Chelsea mob in prison a postcard from Spain saying that they'd opened the door for their convictions to be quashed too which they were a short time after. The whole thing was a huge embarrassment for the old bill and highlighted their incompetence and corruption.

I remember us ( Ipswich) going to the Abbey stadium in the mid to late 80s in midweek cup game. After the game around 150 of us went walkies into the town centre of Cambridge. Also a smaller group around 100 Cambridge had shadowed us into town. The old bill however wrapped Ipswich up ,but not until a few punch ups occurred in the street .Cambridge didn't come at us seriously and after a while melted away .However fair play to them because a few of their guys stood firm even while taking a bit of a slap.Cambridge had a game firm out that night and I think if the numbers had of been more even we would have been in trouble.Spent most of the night in a holding pen in Cambridge nick before being dumped off ( around 30 of us ) on the early milk train to Colchester and told to not fu kng come back by Cambridge old bill😅 I rate Cambridge as s tidy little mob ,and more game than those tarts Southend.

Chelsea absolutely swamped their ground and its strange as this wasnt the story i saw, cambridge getting filled in left right and centre, all across this stupid field with cows in, these idiots bashed up a couple of dimwits on their own, Cambridge aint got a general ffs. Chelsea on their day in the mid 80s were probably the best and biggest firm ive seen in Europe up to this day. They had multiple mobs and would have been untouchable if they all went together. From my experiences 100s of games all over the country from 77-2005 Chelsea West Ham and Millwall was top of the tree in any order Chelsea had bigger numbers IMO and also ran the England mob so edge it for me. Although i hear the mile end mob was untouchable in early 70s. Anything after 2000 don’t really matter as well all know it was done by then. If you are young and reading this and think those Eastern Europeans were scary you really wouldnt have liked English football in the early 80s, they wouldnt have lasted 5 minutes. Boro and Utd not far behind by the way I was just a normal football supporter i didnt follow a team i went wherever i could get a ticket and a night out

Probably why Chelsea and West ham had so much rep at England games as they wasnt in europe in them days.

The season this happened Cambridge dropped down from the second division to the third, rumours of this incident spread like Chinese whispers and by the time it got to us at Millwall it had been exaggerated to Cambridge had a decent mob and done Chelsea, not only did they drop down but Millwalls first away game of the season was none other than Cambridge,. We took mob of about 2000 up there expecting to meet this Cambridge firm, turned out was just a few of them and they had been banged up. With a massive mob and nothing to do. there was a bit of a rampage down the local high street that ended up with jewellery shop getting looted and all sorts.
