Great step-by-step video--Thanks!!! We have a small 130-gallon spa and didn't want to over do it on the chemicals.

I just finished watching a few other videos on how to start up a spa. You are the first to talk about bromine. It was recommended to me to only use bromine in a spa. I guess there are contradicting opinions on this. Thanks for your input. Video was helpful.

I'm probably over thinking it but I don't have a degree in chemistry and math is hard haha! A bit intimidating to do all these chemicals.

Hi Shane. I didn’t see you add anything to increase the alkalinity. Just the Ph.
@mattphillips2844
@mattphillips2844 2 года назад
Should you adjust hardness first then move on to pH?

I found this vid after I shocked (Dichlor) my hot tub of course and of course the PH levels are low. Should I start over or just test the chlorine levels after I get the PH levels right and then adjust?

I adjusted my ph to around 7.6, then added my granulated chlorine, but didn't add the liquid calcium balancer. Can I add it once my chlorine level drops to the normal range or should I add it now? Thanks.

I’m running into an issue with my inflatable hot tub. I’ve yet to be able to use the dang thing! Everything is way low aside from chlorine & free chlorine. They are sky high. I’ve let it run with bubbles on in the sun, there hasn’t been chlorine put in for about 10 days

Does it matter what temperature the water is before adding the chemicals?

Hi there. Do I add the chemicals before I start heating the water or while the water is still cold?
@MasterSpas
@MasterSpas 4 года назад
Hi Chanel! Typically, you would add your metal sequestering agent in first and follow the directions on the bottle. Next you would check and adjust your pH and alkalinity before putting your sanitizer in. This can all be done while the spa is heating up. Hope this helps! -Kayla

My husband was impatient and put in 2 trichlor tablets, in a floater, before testing the ph, alkalinity or calcium hardness. Is this a problem and will we need to empty the tub and start over?
@MasterSpas
@MasterSpas 5 лет назад
Good question! Tri-chlor tablets are not an approved sanitizer. I would empty the spa and use di-chlor granules. Tri-chlor tablets could be harmful to the spa's acrylic shell. Hope this helps! -Kayla

How often do I check and add chemicals?
@joeystylzclash3455
@joeystylzclash3455 4 года назад
PH, Alkalinity, everyday. The rest, check twice a week. Only add chemicals if your test strip tells you. Add scale control once a week as well.

You showed three chemicals used to maintain the spa, are these all you need and how can I order these same three? I like the idea the chemicals are labeled "up" or "Down". I'm blond so I need simplicity. :) Thanks.

Depends on which products you use, use of tub

How do you clean the inside of the spa?
@MasterSpas
@MasterSpas 5 лет назад
Hi Teresa! We recommend you clean the spa shell, jets, and other controls with a soft cloth and spa shell cleaner to help remove residue and buildup on the shell surface. For mineral based buildup, white vinegar or mild scale remover products may be necessary to use with a soft cloth for removal. Rinse the cleaned surfaces with fresh water from your garden hose and wipe with a soft cloth while doing so to help remove residual cleaning agents as some may cause foaming to occur in the water once your tub is filled again. To purchase the proper spa cleaning products, consult with your local Master Spas dealer. Hope this helps! -Kayla

Do you contionuisly run the pump?... Ive yet seen a video which tells how many hrs. a day you should run one. Thanks for the video and please SOMEONE advice this ole fool.
@MasterSpas
@MasterSpas 5 лет назад
Hi Billy! That depends on if you have a 24-hour circulation pump or if your pump 1 on low speed does the filtering. If your pump 1 does your filtering/circulating, our standard would a 4-hour filter cycle or two 2-hour cycles, but this is all dependent on the spa usage. For more help, I would advise reaching out to our customer service team by emailing customerservice@masterspas.com or calling (800) 860-7727. Hope this helps! -Kayla

Also, bromine is not good to use for anyone with thyroid issues, since bromine and bromated can depress the thyroid in people with those issues.
