Jose "Cheo" Ortiz has a story. Hailing from Ponce, Puerto Rico, Cheo and his family came to the U.S. in 1968. Before becoming a journeyman fighter, Cheo fought (and lost) a number of fights. Determined to make a living, he would take on highly advanced fighters of all skill levels, honing his skills, and developing his technique. Throughout his various fight, Cheo would have a number of successful fights, but eventually met defeat against Vinny Pazienza. This underdog story is one that captures a true snapshot of the 1970s Brooklyn vignette.
