Hi Tim, so far this is the smartest tying of this pattern I've seen. I think the underbody and leaving a hot spot was great, it really stopped the foam from torquing around the hook. Segmenting the body and especially the leg technique was super. Thanks Tim, excellent tutorial.

Thanks, great vid! I am always looking for new tips. I like using the chenille base! I have to tie a few of these for some brookies/speckled trout. Just thinking about it, I bet yarn would work well as a base, too!

Glenn Hagan Remember Glenn, foam is your friend. If you get a chance and your computer and connection can handle it, try watching this video in 4k. Let me know what you think.

Hi Tim and Matt, another great video. I have been referencing your videos for about a year and a half now, and tying for about the same. Your production quality is top notch. How much time goes into filming and producing say, a six minute video? It seems very time intensive. Also, do you ever make it to the somerset nj fly fishing show? I have made it the past two years and would love to pick your brains, as I'm sure would many others. I try new patterns almost every night. "Men's knitting," as my girlfriend says. You and davie mcphail have kept me going for some time. Be well, and keep em comin! Scott s

Scott Sinnott Shooting and post production time has a lot to do with the fly being tied but on average total production time for a video is somewhere between 5 and 7 hours. Writing the narration, recording it and then making it work with the video takes up most of the time. Both Matt and I will be at Somerset this year for both the Fly Tiers Symposium in Nov. and the Fly Fishing Show in late Jan. Please do stop by.

Ok.I 've done this fly 2 x's and it looked pretty close to your finished product the 2nd time except for the fact that both times I can t seem to be able to hide the red chenille from being visible as seen from the underbody along the entire length of the hook shank. The only solution I can come up with is to cut wider foam strips. Any feedback?

Hi Matt, well tied as usual, ever used a Dremmel to shape your foam?

alistersef Actually, it's me Tim that tied this one. What type of Dremmel bit are we talking about? The red/orange sandpaper looking ones? You've got me interested.
