Thank you, this technique worked on my German Shepard! The cherry eye was quite severe. My vet told me to take her to the emergency animal hospital but I knew it would be very expensive. I did the tea compress 1-2 times per day but massaged it in the way you described 4-6 times a day. I saw improvement after 2-3 days. Within a week it was 75% better and now six weeks later it is completely healed. Thanks so much!

I can see the reduced swelling but after 3-5 hrs it’ll come out again. Maybe bc it’s Spr/Summer time. Did the cherry eye ever come back??

It worked! A few minutes of massaging her eye and it went back in place. She opened her eye and no more cherry eye! We went to the vet today and they said only way to get rid of it is surgery. Thank you!

Wow! This is so amazing! I got worried so bad for my baby is only 1 year old and it got cherry eye on its right eye due to scratching, I was very distressed I did not know if it was an infection or what. This advice saved one of my 6mth old Maltese pups from a vet's scheduled operation. The pup was already assigned to his new family. They were alarmed and frightened so brought the pup to check. I'm a private breeder, but not a vet! Remembering your advice and with pups face leaning against my tummy.. a little finger stretching to the other corner massage with eye closed and other thumb massaging under the 'cherry' ..and up. It disappeared into place. Scared family and I thank you and even more the pup, who escaped from the claws of their vet who never even tried to massage the gland back into place. If pup has many other cherry eyes.. only when he has reached adult age will he be operated.. for the time being.. has only had 1 episode. Thank you Dr Jones. 💕🐶🍒

re-reading my former post, I would like to add the follow-up to this puppy's cherry eye problem for other readers. this pup now is now 14months.. he had many, many other episodes, like twice a week of cherry eye prolapse, each time patiently correcting, as soon as possible with the manipulation system and use of calming eye drops to help the swelling go down, also keeping eye clean. in contact with another vet.. discussing this problem, he always suggested to wait and hang on till puppy was over a year before operating.. as his immunity system would be only then fully developed and many times things adjust by themselves. it did.. or has so far. after a year old he had only 1 episode in 2months. patience, attention and care was this solution and judging this case so far.. I don't think surgery will be ever be necessary. good luck to involved families, don't make the situation frighten you. it's ugle to look at but patiently learn the manipulations as it can heal as your pup grows.

Fortunately, I have a sweet pup who lets me treat him, he seems to really like the massage around the eye. It is an ongoing process. Be patient, the pain caused is quite severe from dry eye and cherry eye. These guys depend on US to take care of them. They deserve the best from us.

My 3 months cocker got red eye this morning. It was only in 1 eye. Now its in both. I have normal teabag, green tea leaves but not in teabag. I just put the teabag in boiling water? For how many mins? Then wait & place it warm or wait it for it to become cold completely? Then i just place it on the eyes for how many minutes? I prevent the dog from moving? Then should i massage? How to massage? Wont it irritate it more?

My 3 yr old pomchi has had this on and off for a year and nothing works. Was so afraid she would need surgery. I used unpasteurized garlic infused honey from a local farm mixed with green tea. And massaged it when I applied it, and it’s like a magic switch one day of doing it and the Cherry eye is gone! You are amazing can’t thank you enough!

I just tried the manual technique and so far so good. I pushed harder than I thought I'd have to but it still wasn't enough to cause discomfort for my cavalier king charles pup. It may come back but I love the idea of a non surgical solution..

I treated my puppy with Earl Gray right away when I saw his cherry eye pop out. It took me three days, I almost booked a surgery because it got worse on the third day. But all of a sudden, it disappeared on the third day at midnight. I kept putting tea in his eyes for two more days, and even the cherry eye went back. Now, a couple of days later, I still don't see any signs that it's coming back. Thank you so much, doctor.

The tea has caffeine in it which will help with reducing size. In my experience any caffeinated tea will work. As far as the honey that’s a separate suggestion but combined is another option. The honey is intended as a natural home remedy for infection. So together is ideal. Having tea bags is simply more efficient considering the tea is contained in a preferred material. Easy to lightly squeeze the liquid contains the caffeine.

I adopted a dog who had a cherry eye surgery during his neuter. After a few months, it came back. I gave him a doggy aspirin. (Pain relief and anti-inflammatory) I also swiped some antibiotic ointment from his eye surgery on there. (To prevent infection.) I also gave it a small massage to encourage it to go back into place. The next morning, it was back to normal.

@@cloutassasin1408late reply but the same goes for anyone watching. This eye issue is not serious. Well not as serious as it is in your mind. I had a bit of trouble following this video, and will be looking for more info. The thing is I can take the time. My dog will be fine, and I'm not going to be stuck with a huge vet bill if I don't do the exact right thing right this second.... I just feel like that's were people are going in their heads. I know I do when something is wrong with my dogs....

It worked! I only had Earl Gray so I did the eye drop with Earl Gray and honey and then did a warm compress with the Earl Gray tea bag for 5 minutes- immediate improvement! we will do it again this afternoon and I will also try a green tea bag. God bless you!

Pippy is such a good dog sitting you like and prod her eye like that! One of my cats has had problems with one of her eyes which looks like what you showed us in the video. She was a ferral kitten that found her way to our door in a wintery night, and she's had it reoccurring since we've had her she was about 3-4 weeks old. The vet always gave me some cream to help her but it never works, so I'm going to try the tea and the honey treatment you mentioned and see if that works. Cheers! From Tasmania Australia.

@@MissChibiGodd hi i simply soaked a teabag in v little boiling water. I let it cool completely. In a separate lid, i pour some of tge tea infusion and Then i put 2 small cloth in it. I simply pat that on my pups eyes. He was moving a lot. So i stopped. And dropped some of the liquid from up into his eyes. And i simply waited for sleep time nearing at 8.30 9.00 pm i took another soaked clean cloth and just pressed it to my pups eyes. He was agitating too much.. i did it for v few seconds. Then i left him to sleep. In morning was ok. Clean eye goo of eye often with water. And can seldom use some tea infusion water to clean eye as you suspect infection coming by redness of eye or blinking a lot.

I heated up a cup of filtered water and steeped a green tea bag, with raw honey ( 1 teaspoon), took the bag out and let cool a bit, and held it onto my dogs cherry eye until the bag was cooled. Went to do it again about 5 minutes later and the cherry eye was gone!!

Thank you for another wonderful alternative! I used a few drops of Manuka honey solution because of its purported antibiotic properties and had to stare in disbelief a few hours later when I noticed that the redness had gone. This morning, there was no swelling and no cherry eye. I'm stunned!

Yes, yes, yes, it worked! It took Sunday to Sunday & my Tito (12 yr old chi) woke up this morning & it was gone. I was set to call the vet this morning. For a week I rotated a few drops of black tea/honey & green tea/honey, along with a warm washcloth & a little massage. Question-is there anything I can do that may help for the future? Do his eyes maybe need more lubrication in general? Thank you!

@@KC-zg7th u can use normal tea decoction and mix it with honey because honey is anti-inflammatory it helps reduce swelling. Apply on swollen area 6-7 drops and massage the area as doctor showed gently pushing the swollen area inside slowly I had followed this and helped in fast recovery by applying just for 2-3 times and massaging hope it will help u.

My 2 bully kuttas have recently developed cherry eye. I popped in one but it came back out in minutes. Did this a few times..the breed is prone to cherry eye. Lower eyelids droop slightly and I think surgery might be required.

My 1 year old Pitbull had a cherry on his left eye. I was a little worried he would need surgery. I found this video and thought let’s give it a try. I boiled some water and let it cool down a bit. I didn’t have any earl grey tea so I only used some raw honey. After a few drops of the honey water I massaged his eye like the doc recommended. It wasn’t working. I tried it a third time and prayed to God that He would heal my dog’s eye while I massaged it and applied the needed pressure. To my delight it worked. I thank God for giving me the confidence in Him and to stay calm and know He will lead me in the right direction. Shout out to the doc for giving great advice.

It worked... but there are a couple other ways also . Like he said message. I put a lil pressure m the corner with dog eyes closed and pull cherry downward but in a big circular motion. And it worked. Or just put your finger on directly and press down and that works too

Not having much luck with getting the cherry eye to pop into place... my pit puppy has it and I'm watching him as much as I can. He doesn't seem to be irritated by it as he doesn't scratch at it. So the tea/honey is definitely keeping it moist and clean... but it's the massage part I can't seem to get..or maybe it's impatience 🤔 not sure how much pressure to apply. Hoping Dr Jones can elaborate more

Hi, thank you for this video! My little 10pd Maltipooh has a cherry eye and the quote is $3500 for surgery in Northern Ca! That’s not $500 lol, isn’t that crazy? So. I’m going to try to treat per your video. Q: Is it ok to use something like 1-drop pets plus eye drops on the eye, and then massage like in your video? I ask because I’m hesitant about the tea/honey and just using eye drops seems easier. Q: with a tiny dog what amount of pressure do you recommend compared to what you did with Pipi who’s a much larger dog? Thank you!

Thank you Doc. Your videos are so helpful. My dog had a cough a last month and I gave him calamansi (Philippine lime) and honey. It was quite hard making him drink it but it was worth it. In 2 days, he's cough free. Then just a few days ago he's having a diarrhea, so I made him drink some probiotic drink. So far, I think he's getting better. Hope he continues to get better. Good thing I subscribed to your channel, and checked on the other videos. My other dog on the other hand, has this cherry eye, it's been months since she had it, I'm gonna try applying drops of honey and water on her eye. I hope it goes well. My dog has had cherry eye and I've massaged it gentle in for a little while and it pops back in but definitely keep an eye on it for the next couples days...
