I'm in 30% AR and keep dashing like normal. If anything is getting better because the people with the tier system who think they need to take all the crap are takeing it.
Pedro nailed it. He's not being negative. He's speaking truth and reality of the situation. Crap all around. No more cherries on any app. Luck plays a major part, probably 99% is luck. Little skill involved, but mainly luck. Doesn't matter how intelligent, educated, fast, or professional you are. If the good orders don't come they don't come. A person with a Doctorate or Master's Degree has no greater chance of succeeding at this work than someone with just a high school diploma. $100 a day is very difficult even using 4 apps together being out 10 hours a day. The luck has run out for most of us. The companies are winning and drivers are very frustrated.
@@TheDecider2024Yes! Exactly. The things he's talking about are negative. It's not good news, but it's reality and the truth. He's not making up crap to spread negative vibes. Pedro isn't being negative. The facts are negative. He's just talking about it.
He keeps making the same videos over and over. The reason he's not dependent upon the gig apps is because he brings in 5 or 6k or more on yt. Every video of his is basically like the last one. It's getting old. I rarely watch..
I'm seeing it pick up here already, school has started. I did well last night. Unfortunately, I'm having to avoid the heat of the day here in Texas, it's just too hot. I dash when the sun starts going down, so I start late.
@@nocturnus6 The heat is brutal, but I don't like driving in the dark. Unfortunately, with the shorter days, I miss the busy times of 8:30-10:30pm in my market.
@@B_BodziakA lot of people don't like driving at night, and I get it. It's harder to see hazards, on foot and driving. It's a challenge to find addresses at night. I won't go anywhere new at night, only places I know. The heat is letting up, but the days are getting shorter, if it ain't one thing it's another.
Earn by time doesn't work in my area unless you want to drive 2-3 miles for every dollar you earn. They send you 10 miles to the middle of nowhere and the you've gotta drive 5 miles back before you get another offer and you only made $6.87 for the 30 minutes you were actually active. No thanks. I decline 90% of what uber/dd send me.
Thank you for calling out how the gig apps are paying. On a platform for over four years now, and last Friday was hard to believe only receive two orders all day long. Fridays were great days for orders and great tips not anymore so true about cherry picking there’s nothing to cherry pick. Thank you for sharing your thoughts 😢
Pedro i have 8 apps and i find cherry's all the time every day because I have perfected multi-apping in my area. i always get a good order but sometimes i need to wait an hour. Life in the gig economy can be consistent you just need to know your market, the stores and what apps to use at the right time.
The skill is knowing where to hunt and where to avoid. Some ppl are lucky to be near great areas where they get access to $50+ instacarts, $20+ hot food orders. The rest is luck.
The customers are tipping the same. It's the companies that are stretching out the mileage for the drivers. I barely get orders from restaurants within a half mile of my location, and if I do it's because the restaurant just opened and I would have to wait for the food to be prepared
This here. I wondered how I got a DD order for a fast food place that had at least 2 to 3 locations between me and next town that my local one got picked to process. Then it’s a 10 mile drive. If it was a 10 mile to pickup I could understand the algorithm, but there’s little chance one in a completely different area got picked unless the customer just had a previous one entered.
i left gig work full time status 3 months ago and now work full time in IT. I do doordash on side, it is enough to pay for my vacations. Taking family to Disneyworld in April for daughters 9th bday. my goal used to be $1200/week as a fulltime driver. Now i just aim for $500/week as part time. Im lucky that my entire market is like 8 miles end to end. I miss the freedom of doing it fulltime, but its just not feasible anymore
One of the most unappreciated positions in this nation. Unfortunately. These companies want the food pushed but don’t wanna pay. The customer want the food brought to their door but they don’t wanna pay
Better than my market, although that is bad. I'm averaging $4 to $5 an hour in my market and that's before taking out for gas, wear and tear, and taxes. Pathetic. Not worth it. Changing jobs isn't as quick and easy as one may think. This looks nothing like it did 2016 to 2020.
Your absolutely right! it's been like that for six months in my market here in Honolulu. I talk to drivers here and there at the restaurants waiting for food and some of these fools take trash and they don't know better. This is why it get's worse and worse. I plan to suck it up till end of the year, and that's it.
I started all of this in November. I noticed right away it had a gambling vibe. Thats why people still do the slot machine…to get lucky. You are right..there will always be people out there to grab an order or wanting to get..lucky 😁
I just got the email today that a catering bag is no longer required for LOP. So now my incentive to maintain platinum is only for the dash now option. Like trader says I’m feeling very ma-niple-lated
Exactly! Because I don’t see many platinum status offers .. unless you count the $4.00 for 2 miles with the platinum banner 😅 That still takes forever Bec it’s usually for restaurants where Most don’t start the order till after you get there and they work at a snails pace . $4.00 for over half hour .. yep 👍 that’s platinum!! Who’s getting the good / great orders ? Because I haven’t had any , my son hasn’t , his friend hasn’t and I struggle to keep platinum status . It’s really only good for dash now , like you said . I agree 100% We are practically forced to take the horrible orders just be able to get on the app to take more 🥴🥴🤣 We are straight up clowns 🤡
To a great extent, I agree, though i still sort of cherry pick. My AR hovers around high 40s low 50s on DD. Lately, the orders have been such trash I can't even make it past 52 percent, though I still made my money last week. The AR is pretty much forcing our hands to deliver to miserable no-tippers. UE used to pay great, but these last few weeks especially have been astounding garbage. I'm toying with looking for a part time W2 to take the stress off the apps because it is becoming surprisingly stressful. These companies just reported very good profits for this quarter and we seem to be struggling more. I doubt its going to change.
I’m thinking of testing the W2 waters. It’s been a good run, plus I’m not quitting anything, I can always go back. But it doesn’t hurt to see what’s out there
I average 20 hrs delivering pizzas for a w-2 and 20 hrs doing UE, but I only do UE from mid-fall to mid-spring for 30-50 hrs a week...I also do about 5 catering orders a week averaging about $30 each for 1 hour, plus a few UE after each job wherever I am at but it can be very hit or miss this time of year...There are quite a few catering apps if you aren't already aware
I don't listen to this channel in the car anymore. Videos start "Nothing will change my positive attitude" to "Sorry I'm negative" in less than 10 minutes. 😊
What ends it is, when if you work enough to stay in silver at 50% a.r. in a market that only produces 10 precent of orders you wont lose money on my mind thinks of this, Slavery = working for 0 money DoorDash taking every order = Spend your own money to work, -2.37 an hour. So door dash is in some markets worse than slavery. WILD
I’m cherry picking as long as i use the apps. It’s not like I’m even dependent on them anymore I got a delivery job at FedEx now. I adapted. Full time gig economy is over and has been over.
@@seanwilliams7655 100%. There is no other way to do it. The only reason Pedro is still full time gig apping is because of his RU-vid channel. If it weren’t for that, he would’ve stopped a long time ago.
I have never cherry picked. Goal has always been Top Dasher. Higher ratings help me get better/higher-paying orders, imo...I don't take super trash, but do alright...
I can still cherry pick. No were near anything like I could 3 years ago. Maybe my earnings are cut in half. The companies won't always have the upper hand. Just hope when they blow it that they don't drive off the customers. I would guess in 1-3 years from now the apps will have driven enough drivers away to be in a situation where they need to incentivize drivers. The only problem for many is making it to that hypothetical date in the future.
You serious? There are people becoming eligible to drive literally every day. Even if they somehow run low (not out) of drivers, some relatively minor incentives will get hundreds of thousands of people signed up again, and we'll be right back to square one.
I cherry pick all the time...never tske trash orders....and its way harder now to make consistent money....thats why i got a 9-5 and only dash when im in the .mood
This is a really good video, you're absolutely spot on. If we can't come together as a community and stop doing unfavorable orders, there will likely be no end to this. These companies are trying to see how much they can suck out of us to see what they can get away with, and its now much less covert than what it use to be. We can end this by mostly/exclusively accepting orders at or around the value of cherry picking, however a lot of us will not have that possibility. Despite how bad it is right now, the best thing we can do right now is talk about it and spread awareness as demonstrated in this video.
I know last week I worked 34h 36m active time and 47h 29m dash time just to make $959 bucks, cherry picking has been over for two years in my opinion, after 2022 when all the gig app companies did a mass hire on purpose and flooded every market with oversaturation and it hasn't been the same since then.
@@bballah9969right, and he selling his time to apps for peanuts..under min wage...they're literally telling you to quit with the lowball insulting offers that don't make sense...these apps are for migrants... they so goofy they taking orders for free paying the costumer and delivering them food.🤣🤣🤣
I don’t need to cherry pick! I live in California. I make $2k a week working 12hr a day from 7 am to 7 pm. I’m telling you right now prop 22 is the best thing for independent contractors.
4 weeks left and I'm done with this. I will not be back. It hasn't even been a year . I am still cherry picking but i agree its getting harder. Im glad im gone in 4 weeks.
I work about 10 hours a day, and make between $250 and $300 a day. DoorDash and Uber are very good to me, and I am happy with them. Could they be better? Of course, but I am doing well.
Every now and then I can get on and I still cherry pick. and yes, there are still SOME good orders available. The thing is without a program level or whatever I can't get on unless it's busy.
The trick is working nights. I’m able to make 60-100 working 3-5hrs. Not many want to work at night, so there is a surplus of orders. Some great, and some suck, but I make it work. There is also more of those random high base payouts at night.
Your first deals for days is coming up. Hope it’s a good one. Christmas eve broke the spark platform last year. Every single order was +8. June/July has always been weak. It’s going to get better.
Depends on your market. I made over 4k in July amd did almost 1300 last week all with a 20 percent AR. Multi apping and cherry picking is the only way. It isn't as easy as last year, but it is still possible.
Cherry picking is dead for those who don't know how to work the apps they are on and haven't learned their respective market. You can no longer go out blindly and cherry pick effectively like it's 2020. Those who understand the apps they are working and take the time to really master their market and position themselves effectively can definitely cherry pick and achieve outstanding results. It's not luck there's a skill in being able to put yourself in a favorable position to receive the high paying orders on these platforms. If there wasn't everyone in my market would be having the same amount of success on these apps.
Once NYC moved to EBT for everyone, cherry picking was over. Doesn't matter if you get an order for $20 or $2, same shit. That's if you work full time like I do on the DD ap[p. You need to keep your metrics high in order to get the weekly bonus. On the other hand, with UE I'm not fulltime and don't care about my stats so I cherry pick in bad weather like we've been having. I've been getting $50 offers and even an offer for $110 for 3 deliveries for 10 miles the other night. Banger. And I have a 1% AR. Every market is different.
I had no problem cherry picking until I took some time off. I didnt work for about 6 weeks, and I came back 3 days ago now. Since being back every day has been junk. Not sure whats up with it. Either being punished for that time off or something changed over the past 6 weeks here. Been making around 30 a day now. I still refuse to take non profitable low offer orders. I will try to make it up on other apps
@@seanwilliams7655 on his views he gets per video and the amount of content he makes I would say he’s making 2$ per hour at most. My friend has 260K subs and makes less than 1000. This is just a low paid side hustle for gaydro, just like his pizza boi job
I'm sure you're right about the cherry picking. The thing with me is that I've been multiapping from the get go. So , I don't see the change you're talking about. I've bee doing this for almost four years now. I started with two apps, soon after I had like five apps, now I literally have 16 apps and for me no matter the day or hour is simply non stop with the orders coming in. Are all the orders good? Absolutely not . But there's always plenty in the mix for me to choose from. All I'm saying is , multiapping is the only way to go. As always good luck to you and keep putting out your good content.
I got a very late start, but still made $60 in a few hours, just 3 deliveries. Dodged a bullet this time. Cleveland, OH and the surrounding suburbs got a direct hit by multiple tornadoes coming off Lake Erie. I watch tornado chasers like Reed Timmer on RU-vid and I know what to look for, so I keep looking outside and getting ready. Just a few miles away from my house, there was tons of damage. Damn was that a close call. It really puts things into perspective, delivering food to a lady at an apartment building with part of it's roof on the other side of the road. People are sheltering in place at the restaurants that have power and orders are taking forever. The apps really stepped up their game on the bonus pay.
I know it’s more difficult. Remember during the pandemic? It was great. You have to really be able to analyze your market and make the right choices. I’ve found that by focusing on the restaurants themselves and finding 2 ultra busy high end restaurants that serve affluent communities works for me. Know the correct time slots. I’m just saying you need to put more thought into how your market works . This is a market driven business. I’ve been watching you since 2020 and you are the real deal pedro
When I start in a great area. The app always directs me to less desirable areas. But, I will take about anything, platinum driver here. 99% completion. 99% acceptance.
I'm in Miami Beach and to make $50-60 a day you're working the whole day and I'm platinum Dasher as well with an 84% AR. The reality is gig work is a joke and your making peanuts but of course people won't admit it. Like someone above said they made $4k last month please who the hell is going to believe that
@@bballah9969Actually I was making that for a couple of months last winter on 35-40 hour weeks on my area. Now it would have to be 45 hour weeks or more 😡
Pedro......i think it's time you leave this gig life behind my guy. I love your content and appreciate what you've done, but it's starting to feel like we(your viewers) are the only ones who took your advice about using this as a stepping stone. DD was your bread and butter and that's ok. It was mine too, but eventually, life forced me to change it up by making me feel uncomfortable still trying to do it full time because of things like this. If you're now experiencing it, then it's time to let it go, my man. All love over here. No shade.
I find cherry picking to be a horrible term and slightly offensive. What does it even mean? $2/mile isn’t cherry picking. That’s a fair wage. Especially when comparing to pizza deliveries 7-10 years ago. Before the apps existed. I want to make a decent wage and not lose money. I just had $4 for 8 miles. Was actually 3 miles from restaurant to drop off, trip radar, immoderately accepted. how do people make money off that?!? IMO if people wanna earn more, let the timer run out. Dont decline immediately. Let the base pay build up.
It's because of the shitty high AR requirements. As independent contractors we're supposed to be able to choose. Force the companies to pay more, we can't do it anymore. It should be illegal. When you force drivers to take shit, the rates lose their competitiveness. Forcing AR rate for high priority on higher paying offers absolutely should be illegal.
I don’t cherry pick anymore. I do earn by time and slowly changing peoples minds about tipping. I’ve had a few tip after the delivery due to how respectful I was and made their day. I take pride in what I do👍
Recently found that there isn’t the platinum program for DoorDash in Colorado but in almost every state east of that it exists. Had to cut my plans short cause I wasn’t sure I’d even make what I needed to pay a bill and then was close to making the goal in Alabama which had got the hourly plus tips @ 18.50. Hit it lucky but cut short cause I had no gas and was essentially stranded till I could access my money.
its not oversaturated. its bunch of illegal criminal activity going on with undocumented workers or biden handing out temporary work permits to refugeez or asylum seekerz. if all them got sent back, there will be shortage of drivers with not enough pure US citizens willing to deliver
You could be right, and I hope it works. I suppose I should be negative too when I comment. I just posted a few positive comments, why did I do that? I never encourage anyone that asks me about dashing (IRL), I give them a ho hum "it's just a way to make a little extra money, nothing amazing." Why give yourself competition? I'm upping the negativity from now on. Doordash is not so great, you won't make much money, it's much better to have a real job.
@@nocturnus6 Right !!!! Lmao I’m not going to lie. I was doing that with Uber eats I was like the only one doing it in my area and then all of a sudden everybody switched over.
It depends on the MARKET it is slow some places and if you have over 300 people working and maybe 7,000 people customer ordering food for the day the max of DoorDasher should be working in a day is 200-250 people only they divide numbers if it’s to many people working in one day all them dashers making the same because they have to even the number out if that makes sense so if that many dashers working in that day you will make your money and tips because it’s less drivers working but if it’s more they even out the numbers so everybody can eat but the fact people not eating out like that because people rent went up and everything else went up so you’re not seeing a lot of people eating out like that lately people saving money not know how the November going to turn out with President pretty much majority of the world living pay check to pay check so what money people going to tip if they don’t have none let alone if doordash double the price if it wasn’t for doordash prices I believe customer would be able to tip the customers but some people looking at it like if I spend 50 or 60.00$ how can I tip a 15$ or 20$ if I’m already spending 60 that’s why some customers only tipping 2-8$ because it be that reason what they looking at and that’s if you lucky to get a good tip go try to order from DoorDash to see then you will understand better some people really gone be picking up they order especially if they can’t afford to pay DoorDash everything high including food to not just one thing
I understand you, i use it just to get 30-50 for gas, food or house stuff. I also use it to invest my money into the markets if i made 30$ I just put it into a investment. I turn my App at my house and I wait for a good order
Can still do 100-150.00 but it takes 6-10 hours - I only do about 10 days a month though. It’s much harder though to keep ar up- it declines faster now because there are more trash orders - sadly we have taught customers and dd we will take 12 mile orders doing EBT- no need for them to pay more.
I've been doing this full time for 3 years now and the beginning of 2024 it has been my best year yet I'm a platinum dasher and that's where the money us at. Trust me I went below for one day and the orders completely sucked. I mostly do door dash but keep uber on as well. Average 25 to 27 in a 55 hour week.
I think this is the first time a lot of you experienced the summer slowdown. The pandemic spoiled a lot of people. There are a lot of ups and downs in the gig economy. Soon people that have not learned how to ride the coaster will fall off.
I am still able to do okay part time Cherry picking between Uber and DD, I don't have to make a ton of money doing it just 200 a week in 3 days, some days I am getting lucky and others are a struggle but eventually I get close thanks to Shop and Pays
Hey there . Northern NJ market. Yeah! It's getting worse. I don't bow to DD acceptance rate slavery on general principle and as a result it's just running on the background. Once in a while something falls through the cracks. UE on the other hand still allows for cherry picking. I drive orders that pay $3 per mile. Lately I've been catching some strange orders. Most of them are doubles going 5-7 miles with payout around $60. Tips are only 4-5 bucks and the rest is base pay. But in general the things aren't they used to be. No more quests or surge pay for delivery drivers on UE. I used to make easy 150-180 in 6-7 hours.... Another thing. I noticed quite a few guys working in teams. Each has 2-3 phones on them. You just can't make living in this field these days. I'm running an eBay and Poshmark stores and just started an auto leasing services. Looking for a great deal on a new car? I can help.
I still cherry pick with DD and GH, and it does matter how you work your route. You know this, and have always pointed out strategy. I really think the difference is that you're not cherry picking DD anymore.
You know what else is no more on doordash? Catering bags. It's now a free for all. They're cutting themselves off at their own knees. It's funny I remember just about 3 months ago I was kicked off the program because of a glitch on my picture for my catering bag now hot bags be damned. Food quality be damned. First come first serve. 😂😂 DD is such a joke.
I feel ya pain bro but every market in every city and country is completely different so what happens in one city could be completely different to what’s happening in another. Made $140 in 3 and a 1/4 hrs last night hustling 3 apps. Nothin wrong with that 💰🍀 it is winter here though so that helps
Theres not enough good orders for all the drivers. Imagine 100 drivers cherry picking every minute. Look im a customer, the restaurants have a limited menu with high prices. If i want lunch, I pay $12 plus a $2 tip. You will get $4 what more can we do as a customer?. 90% of customers of the food apps are single orders. Think about it , if im spending $ 54 fr dinner for my fams, ill just pick it up myself right. No one is spending more than $24 on the food apps
Take a look at the base pay on Uber eats when you deliver next time. How many miles did you drive? How much time was involved? How much did Uber pay you? I don't care how many miles you drive... I'm going to guess less than $3.
Backwards orders High mileage low pay I used to do EBT with DD but they’re doing $2 $3 deliveries & u don’t know until you delivered the order or end your scheduled time. No more EBT for me only tab I utilize now is pay per offer on DD UBER 50% of the orders are backwards GH have adopted UBER backwards orders concept Also delivering catering or large orders when you have to pick up the order pack it carefully in your bags, deliver, set up (sometimes) just for $20-$30+ It’s ridiculous People have to figure out what’s the next level because unless these gig companies are compelled to pay correctly this will continue to happen….. The choice is ALWAYS in my hands and your hands……. Good luck to everyone……
It's been hell! Today I got z ero offers on doordash. I got one that was worth taking on Uber eats $10. That's what I meant today. Yeah this is over. I ran into a guy yesterday. He was running. I told him to slow down. You're on prop 22. I can't be late. I can't be late. He didn't understand any bit of English. All he knew is he couldn't be late! It's crazy out there.
If cherry picking is not a thing, then being an independent contractor on those apps is not a thing. These drivers who do earn by time is the reason nobody's making mote than 15 an hr. They should have gotten W2 jobs.
He's right and it's become unbearable and you actually save money by not doing it...that's how bad so of them are now qnd why most have quit...I have to reject 99% of all uber eats requests and it goes off like crazy by me but it's all garbage.
