It's all down to how the warranty and servicing works. 120K with 5 years unlimited milage and 5 years all in free service would be something to pay attention to.

Good move from Chery to go alone in this Malaysian market, lower cost, agile and lean. Local partner (malaysian company) is the usual stumbling block for fast progression. They always think on short term gain i/o long term - to appease the shareholder. Chery Msia can concentrate their resources on after market and part logistics. Marketing? let internet do its magic. Keep the early adopter happy and success will follow.

The way Hafriz talks about the car gives us the confidence to purchase it.

I've been waiting for more than a year since the announcement of new Chery models coming to M'sia. Have plans to buy a new car, but patiently waiting for THIS. Chery never disappointed me. 13 years of owning a Chery Tiggo 3, there were absolutely no issues at all with the engine, chassis, interior etc. Tho, there was a gearbox issue, but solved easily and its been 5 years since. Also just normal wear and tear and oil service. I really can't wait to test the Omoda 5 (hopefully to own one) and see what Chery has brought us 🤗😁

(Beware/Awas) 9/2/24 Chery Australia has recalled 5901 examples of its Omoda 5, after discovering a defect which can result in brake failure for the small SUV. The recall affects all Chery Omoda 5s sold in Australia since local deliveries began in mid-2023. “Due to a manufacturing defect, the bolt securing the brake pipe union may not have been tightened sufficiently. This could cause the brake fluid to leak and result in reduced braking performance,” Chery said in its recall notice. “A reduction in braking performance could increase the risk of an accident resulting in serious injury or death to the vehicle occupants, pedestrians and other road users.”

Finally. A very strong competitor for x50 with hard to get spare parts, cross with naked and plain designs and hrv with low quality. Damn china really impressive.

Guys, I’ve been for test drive recently. There’s Eco & Sport mode. I never tried sport mode. Because Eco mode 1.5 with Turbo awesome feel enough. Suspension are smooth giler” sedap bawa bro 😅. apa lagi sudah terus booking 🤭. sebab local assembly. Kilang dekat kuantan. spare parts no issues. banyak order OMODA 5, need wait for 3 months 😢. It’s ok I can wait

No doubt its a stunning looking car in and out with futuristic design...Have to wait at least a year or two to get feedback from owners...If 2 crucial issues, maintenance & reliability chery managed to look after maybe well to consider it....

Well i think this is why we have open market so that all parties can present their products and it's gonna be up to consumers preferences and also the company's performance. About this particular car, spec wise it might sound appealing but straight up i gotta say i hate the front grill it just makes me feel something is crawling under my skin. The fact that they chose to go solo this time without a local partner is something that soon we gonna see the results of it and i personally think they should've pick a local partner considering their unsuccessful previous attempt in our market. U see there's a reason company's need a local partner and tbh in our market there's a lot of different looking cars fron various manufacturers and we're not on short of variety in our market so i think cheery needs way more than a weird looking car to hold a ground here.

Chinese car is getting better and better, hope one day CHANGAN will come to malaysia too. the UNI-T, UNI-K looks gorgeous

Chery needs to ensure good after sale support with parts available. We Malaysian, very sceptical after seeing how proton perform with their after sale service. Its horror.😅

If this cherry comes with 5 years free service, items and labour, unlimited mileage warranty as standard package then it is a serious business. This will benefit to the customers, better resale value and also a great long term business plan. People love free stuff, car will be taken care of within 5 years, used car buyer love to buy well maintained car, first owner loves to sell the car with a reasonable good price, more people might consider to buy cherry, business goes boom!

I wonder if the auto unlock when approaching the car function can be disabled? Or does it only open the driver side door or it opens all 4 doors? Coz this could be a security risk where muggers can just open your passenger side door and grab your things if you're not paying attention. As what has happened previously to the auntie at petrol station

Only need to get past the reliability of Chinese cars and after sales support of the local dealership. If this model comes from Toyota I'll buy it without hesitation. But Chery, although looks good I have reservations.
