Chess Match vs Andrea Botez BUT LOSER HAS TO JUMP IN THE POOL

I did a two game chess match against Andrea Botez where the loser of the match had to jump in the pool with the clothes on. Because I am higher rated than Andrea, we decided that it was enough with one draw for her to win the match. Watch until the end to see how it went :D

The thing I'm noticing about anna is that she's polite, and excited without being wild or boring. It's a great disposition, a very balanced persona. What a fun kid.

I love you girls promoting chess online so much. My 10 year old daughter is interested in chess. Thus I’m interested in what you are doing here with these videos. She loves watching these videos with me, especially with all the trash talk in quick or blitz games (especially Coffee Chess). It makes the competition exciting to watch. And gradually she is becoming interested in the analysis part. She can ask me questions too. I have a very old USCF rating of 1900 plus from the 1990’s. I gravitated to play online using alternate accounts and got a max rating of 2354 before having to quit for a variety of reasons…Bells palsy that continues (although much less) to effect my vision in my right eye. It became too difficult to see much less to improve my chess skills online at the time. And frankly, the influence of computers into the chess world at the time was destroying the chess community IMHO. I’m glad to see you and other die hards are continuing to rebuild the community. In fact there’s potential for it to be better than it ever was before. Recently I’ve brought out my old chess library and started reviewing them again. And my 10 year old daughter is right there beside me learning. She’s into dog training as well. And she came up the idea of training our dog Bruce how to play chess. I was very skeptical at first. But she is already successful in getting him to take it and drop it. So perhaps it’s possible to get him to push a few pawns and allowing a human to use the fool’s or scholar’s mate on him. Regardless it would be hilarious to view a human playing an actual game with Bruce on one of these chess channels on RU-vid. Maybe far in the future….

I love chess but I am terrible at it. The game is incredible but I can't think ahead at all. I truly admire people with a mind that allows this level of play. It always hurts to lose, but that's part of the game. Everyone loses now and then. I don't want to sound like a smart alec, I'm by no means a better chess player than you, but after having observed your play, the thought occurred to me that you might have two weaknesses that you need to fix in order to improve your chess. First, sometimes you move fast and hang a piece in one move, which could cost you the game already. I think most strong players aren't strong because they can calculate better, but because their play is consistently on a high level. Second, you're a very tactical player, and maybe for that very reason you sometimes might forget about positional play. I don't know what you saw there in that last game after you sacrificed your valuable bishop-pair, probably you saw some tactics with your knight, but if you look at the board from a positional point of view there's no way a knight alone could inflict any damage on the king-side, you need at least a second piece to make any attack happen. The knight didn't even have an outpost, it could be kicked away with h4, which actually happened, and finally you had nothing to show for your sacrifice. These are just my thoughts, I just wanted to help. I'm looking forward to your future games, I'll be rooting for you! ☺
