In 1975, I was invited to a luncheon in downtown Houston, TX. Mr. Chet Atkins was there to play for us. There were only about 75 - 80 people there. I sat about 10 feet in front of him as he played. Was anyone else there? How great he was!!!

My dear father ,introduced me to the music of the great ,Chet Atkins. It's led to an appreciation,of Les Paul, Wes Montgomery. Et Al. I am no guitarist. But I learnt music ,very young. Although I've lost the skill. But I know quality and great music. NO MATTER THE GENRE

When I was a lad, I was lucky because even though I lived on the outskirts of Birmingham (UK), there was a small record shop that sold American import vinyls, so some of my first LPs were those by Chet, Johnny Cash et al. I still have them.

I saw him concert he did segovia, wes Montgomery and django pieces, as well as his own famous stuff. It was a demo of incredible variety and precision of pure music and flawless technique, he also played two songs similtaneously, he destroyed my ambition to be a great player, he could do any style or genre, lots of players have great left hand technique, his right hand was unbelievable,
