Hey there! My name is Louis and I'm a disabled vet from Detroit and had recently gone thru a hard time. Your music.. like always.. helped me get thru it as well as pushed me to be a better musician. I have a new song Leaking I just put on here that you all were a major influence on, and I'd love it if you could take 4 minutes out of your day to hear it. Thank you for everything!
Honestly can I just thank you for making my school life so much better. I couldn't pay attention, stay focused, or do any type of homework before, but now I just bop through the day with my headphones in and my grades are thanking me for it. your music helps me so much more than you know. keep up the great jams
He's not struggling. If you're vocally trained then you can tell he's on pitch. Every other interesting characteristic of his tone is what makes him unique. He's singing like himself, not like someone taught him to. And there's a time for both types of singers, people like you and people like him. Just don't judge him by how you would sing the song, cause he isn't going to do that. It's an excellent cover with a lot of soul
he's fucking perfect on this one. such a great choice in a cover too. it kind of reinvents it, or should I say, it expounds upon the original intention.
this song is the reason i wish more artist did covers honestly, it can sound different and still be good and respectful towards the originals, and i truly wish more artist had the balls to try.
First thing that comes to mind with this song for me is a warm, sunny summer, hanging out in a boat with your mates, having a couple beers and not a single responibility to commit to ❤️
HAPPY 50M, Nick! 😭 Thanks for this wonderful mistake. You've come a long way and shouldn't be sorry that so many people still associate you with this cover; perhaps you and "No Diggity" will always be compossible, and that's totally beyond your control, but that is so only because of your originality and craftsmanship, which kinda made it your own. It's not where you take things from - it's where you take them to, as Godard once said. "No Diggity" is also the first song I've ever heard from you, and I'm grateful that it introduced me to the fantabulous human and artist you turned out to be. Congrats on an astounding career anyway and keep 'em coming!
Very few covers sound better than the original and for sure this is one of those rare instances when it does. Another of these rare events that immediately comes to my mind is Depeche Mode doing Bowie's Heroes.
I listened to a lot of jazz and I was a big fan of Chet Baker and the way he sang, when he moved into mainstream singing. He had this really fragile vocal style-this really, broken, close-up and intimate style. The name is kind of just an ode to Chet Baker and the mood of music he used to play-something I would like to at least attempt to play homage to in my own music.
Lyrics Shorty get down, good Lord Baby got 'em open all over town Strictly biz, she don't play around Cover much ground, gettin' paid by the pound Gettin' paid is her forte Each and every day, two player way I can't get her out of my mind I think about the girl all the time East side to the west side Pushin' phat rides causing no surprise She got tips in the stash Stacking up the cash Fast when it comes to the gas By no means average She's on when she's got to have it Baby, you're a perfect ten I like the way you work it No diggity, I gotta bag it up I like the way you work it No diggity, I gotta bag it up I like the way you work it No diggity, I gotta bag it up I like the way you work it No diggity, I gotta bag it up She's got class and style Street knowledge by the mile Baby never act wild She's very low key on the profile Catchin' vilians is a no Let me tell you how it goes Curves the words, spins the verbs Lovers it curves so freak what you heard Hey yo, hey yo, hey yo, hey yo Hey yo, hey yo, hey yo, hey yo Hey yo, hey yo, hey yo, hey yo Oh, man, that girl look good Hey, yo, hey yo, hey yo, hey yo I like the way you work it No diggity, I gotta bag it up I like the way you work it No diggity, I gotta bag it up I like the way you work it No diggity, I gotta bag it up I like the way you work it No diggity, I gotta bag it up
It had been so long since I'd heard the original, that two years ago when my friend put this on a playlist, I thought that was it. But then this week I was listening to some old hip-hop and R&B and I was honestly chocked to hear it again. So yeah, just discovering this was a cover when I knew the original.
KevOnStage knows the truth. Love Chet.. Goodness. His sound is the kind where you sit down in a partially lit venue, snipping off the end of a cigar, light it slowly and rock away.
