People want Chet to constantly gain weight, but he really doesn’t need to gain much. His lighter frame means he is able to recover on shot block attempts faster. It also means he doesn’t have a huge amount of weight coming down on his knees and ankles when he jumps. 220lbs is probably all he needs to weigh at his heaviest. I’ve watched multiple times where he goes for the block, misses it, recovers fast enough to still block or get the rebound. He needs endurance which he is gaining with each game played.

Agreed with a lot of what your saying but he needs to broaden those shoulders and gain some strength to be more impactful on the offensive boards and rebounding in general... And guarding the few opposing centers that are big 7 footers with some post game. But he doesn't need to be 250 for sure

A little added muscle certainly wouldn't hurt Chet, but for a tall lanky guy he seems pretty strong. But, I don't want to see him add WEIGHT at the expense of his mobility, a mobility that on offense reminds me of a small forward.

Wonderful video, Mike! One thought about Wemby and the Spurs... the Spurs were one of the worst teams in basketball last year, and now they are deliberately playing without a point guard for large stretches of their games. The line from Pop is that he wants Sochan to become a point guard. And he might be on to something, there. But here's another thought: By finding an excuse to not start their actual point guard, they are setting themselves up to lose a lot of games. This is from an organization that deliberately tanked for Wemby. It could very well be the case that they are tanking for one more season to get a third star to pair with Wemby and Sochan... that way, they have a big 3. And if Sochan works out at the point, then great! You've improved his versatility and skillset. If not, then great! You lose a ton of games and get to form a big three.

I really don't think the Spurs are tanking again, as there isn't much in this draft worth throwing a season over. Pop just seems off his rocker and is too stubborn to admit Sochan can't play point guard. And now even worse he's got Malakai Branham starting, and Branham just isn't an NBA level player when he can't shoot the three.

I don't want him to to gain much weight at all. I thought he was too thin for the NBA, but if he's already playing like this, now, he should not at all try to put on more weight. Sure he should go to the gym and develop strength, but not with any goal of weight-- every bit of extra weight adds to injury risk for tall players and if he's already good like this, he should stay clear. Maybe only at the end of his career when he starts losing mobility is when he needs to focus on weight and power to get a couple more effective years.

Wemby stats at the rim are better than Chet he beats Chet in every stat and plays less minutes with a lower usage rate. Let’s not ignore the eye test. Chet gets attack a lot and I don’t see Chet consistently affecting shots vs the elite perimeter like Wemby. Players don’t even try Wemby half the time. Now the elite of the NBA have got him some times but they get got a lot. Don’t see that from Chet. People call Chet a Dog because he does not back down but he likes to handshake after games. Wemby got that mamba in him. He is not looking to shake hands

You can say third place team in the West all you want but the bottom line is that it’s been 20 games if that into the season and their top 10 2021 pick is about to get banned from the NBA anyway so let’s not sit here and act like Oklahoma isn’t gonna end up in the play in tournament

Josh giddey is not that important to okc he been the least impactful player on okc and doesn’t fit with okc, okc are winning because they haven’t been playing josh that much he constantly getting benched

It helps Chet a lot that he’s playing with SGA. Wemby has no one. I think this is a classic Jordan and Hakeem scenario. Jordan benefited by having Pippen. Hakeem had no one.
