Sorry for the late response but I used a 13mm stubby and another stubby to help turn it..use the closed side (the one that makes a circle) I did it from the top and didn't even have to get under the car..hope this helps someone..I'll probably make a video soon..i get my starter this Wednesday
thank you for making this video. much appreciated. you made it especially easier by taking the manifold off. it gave me such a better understanding of where everything was. thank you!
HI GUYS, IVE JUST REPLACED THE FILTER TRANSMISSION (CHEVY SONIC 2012) AND UPON COMPLETION OF THE TASK THE CAR ONLY CRANK AND DOESNT START. LATER AFTERWARDS DOESNT CRANK EVEN. STARTER DOESNT RESPOND. WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM?
Did you break the connector when undoing the bottom starter mount bolt? I did, have to repair with a new ground tab connector. Yes it has to go back the same for ground circuit.
@@soundsolutions the reason why I asked because I got my car out of a shoo that was ripping me off and telling me I needed a new starter ..when all he did was take my power and ground wire and bolt them together and hid them under the wires above the transmission
For those of you attempting to make this repair on a chevy sonic, you might run into the problem I had that the manifold bolts were rusted and I was worried about those breaking. with the manifold in the way it is impossible to reach the starter from above on the sonic. I was able to remove the top bolt of the starter using a socket and ratchet and about 5 extensions with a universal joint placed halfway between the extensions, so it could reach up over the starter in an. L shape. I could not see what I was doing, but had a spotter looking down in from above to guide me to the bolt, which was barely visible. To reattach the starter I used a small amount of hot glue to hold the top bolt in place before putting it back in place and securing it on the bottom before ratcheting down the top bolt. Difficult, but possible. Good luck.
I just hit my starter with a hammer & socket extension and it started 🤣 Shut it off and then it wouldn't start again. And then it did. F Chevy products, lmfao.
I don't mean to be negative, but are you a professional? I looked up this video because I needed to see the set up after a customer messed with their starter. What mechanic doesn't know that only two wires come off the starter? And I wouldn't worry about the PCM (ECU) on this car. It has a 250A Maxi fuse between the battery supply and the starter. Kudos to you for trying to help people. Sincerely. But make sure you have your ducks in a row before making a video.
