I think the HHR was a lot more reliable. I have friends that have had the PT Cruiser and the HHR. The HHR basically had no issues and the PT Cruiser had quite a few problems.

I have 4 of them in the family 3 are in the driveway now. 3 with over 200k miles on them one over 300k. The first one was the the wife who originally wanted a PT Cruiser but I was working for GM fuel cell division in Honeoye Falls NY at the time and I told her about the HHR and that is where the HHR saga began. I once drove 400 miles (in 2013) to NYC to potentially buy one but it was sold and on the way back ended up seeing and buying one only 5 miles from my house. Then this past March I drove the Cleveland and bought my latest and last HHR. It will be my last HHR because in June I bought a Chevy Bolt and will never go back to ICE. Thanks for putting a smile on my face when I saw this video.

I still have a 2007 HHR. I haul all kinds of stuff with it! Replaced brakes twice, and tires 2-3 times. Battery was the original until 2017 when the map lights were left on when I got my sticker by the mechanic! AAA suggested where it was old, to maybe put in a new one, I bought one at Auto Zone and they're great, installed it free! My wonderful HHR will be 16 in Aug, got it 2006, and except for what I replaced, everything is original! It was a great car, and very disappointed I can't get another! 😕

This was my college ride! I purchased a 2011 Chevy HHR 1LT back in Feb 2015 with 128,000 miles. Drove that thing nearly to death! I traded it with over 236,000 miles in April 2019. Maybe I just lucked up, but I never once had any significant issues with it (the engine was beginning to make some weird noises when I traded it, but that was no longer my problem once I drove off the lot!). It was a great ride with fairly decent gas mileage for the time. My particular model came equipped with the rear backup camera, oddly placed within the rear view mirror. I’ve had a 17 Cruze and now a 21 Rogue since the HRR, and while the Rogue has the fancy around view cameras, I actually kind of preferred the HHR’s mirror camera. It was super clear, and the positioning within the mirror made a ton of sense! Anyway I’m rambling, but for all of its quirks (all the plastic…allllll of it), it was an enjoyable ride, and a small part of me still misses it. Chevy definitely should have released a second generation in 2012!

I have an '07 LT HHR and I love it. Bought it used at a dealership 7 years ago for peanuts. It had 113K on it. Had a second opinion on it from the repair shop I go to, they said it was in great shape, buy it. I did. It has given me fantastic service since. Great gas mileage. I take it in for oil changes and get anything fixed on it the guys notice while it is there. Just had it in last week, had new shocks and struts put on in front because it needed doing. The guys said for a 17 year old car it was in fantastic shape, hold onto it for as long as possible because they just don't make 'em like this any longer. Didn't need to be told twice. LOVE this car. Wish Chevy still made them and I don't miss all the fancy (crud) they put on cars now to run the price up. As long as the car gets me where I want to go, I'm happy.

The HHR was the perfect entry level vehicle. I am on my 3rd HHR. First one I bought new was taken out by a distracted driver @ 186,000 miles. Second one (used) disappeared out of my driveway one night and was never recovered. The 3rd and currently driving is clocking 160,000 miles. Even today they are great cars, cheap to maintain, and for the DIY person fairly easy to work on. GM messed up ending the run. But being based on the Cobalt and its dismal sales the HHR was collateral damage. "IF" something similar was to be brought back by GM in maybe a hybrid or EV version I would not even be considering a new hybrid Maverick. But you can bet a HHR will be in the driveway on standby because you know, it's a FORD. But hey, at least they circled the problem.

HHR and PT cruiser are both equally as ugly. Function over form. By 2031 gas cars will be old history, EVs will take over.
