Yes sr I once worked on a Toyota that had a no charge condition. Shops before me replaced the alternator twice. Actual issue was the TB was too dirty causing the idle to be too low and causing a no charge. Crazyyyyyy

This is an excellent video I have a code 121 on a Lincoln Town Car 93 and I did not know it was a performance issue. Brand new throttle position sensor and I got that code and sometimes it's dead sometimes it's not I will clean the throttle body thank you for the information
Fantastic, thanks dude. I wound up with an ‘07 Suburban and I am working on restoring it, had a p0121 code and a nasty throttle body was indeed the issue. These GMT900’s have their little issues, but they’re generally pretty easy to fix if you catch it early and take care of them! Next order of business is to disable the cylinder deactivation system before it spins a lifter and destroys the cam…
That is a stupid feature which actually causes more harm than good. Firing on ALL CYLINDERS isn't just a phrase.. In the long run it ruins the cylinders. I'll keep my 01 Yukon until the subframe falls off 🤣. Don't get me started on the electric vehicle scam.. We are being governed by a bunch of dumb asses!! 🇺🇸 1st 4ever
Thank you for making this video! I have that P0121 code on my 2008 4.8 silverado with 104K on the clock..I dont know if its ever been cleaned because I bought it a few months ago. My throttle is also runing at 21% .But the wierd thing is that its reading only 80% when I press the throttle to the floor with the engine off of course... I'll be cleaning it up this week. Thank you for your help.
I just did this on my 2011 Chevy Silverado Lt Z71 and now it's stuck in high idle 3088 rpms I tried the relearn procedure like 6 times it ain't doing anything and I put it in reverse to drive it but it wouldn't go anywhere probably too high rpm idk this has me so mad right now I did exactly like you
I currently have a code p0121 on my silverado thanks to you and your vídeo no need to take to mechanic. Just one question is there a certain throttle body cleaner you recommend
I'm planning on cleaning the throttle body on my 2018 Silverado 5.3L with ~64k miles due to rough idle condition. According to the trucks tack the engine is currently idling at 500rpm, which I believe is a bit low. If my throttle body is as dirty as I suspect it is I'm thinking my idle speed should go up a bit after cleaning. What IYO is a good idle speed for a 5.3L in park?
Hey bro I have a ‘01 Trans Am. I’ve been annoyed by P0121 for two years. I spent $600 dollars at a shop and they couldn’t resolve the problem. My throttle body has never been as dirty as the one in this Silverado. So here is my question. Is it positive for a bad throttle body to cause this problem? I’ve cleaned it many times and I still get the code and piss poor engine performance.
Great video, amazing information. Thanks! Question, if I don't have the resources to do preform the throttle reset/relearn, would it cause further damage or incorrect readings?
Cleaned the tb and put it back on did the run for 3 minutes and off for 1 min 3x it made the idle go down but while coming to a stop after about going between 40 to highway speeds the rpms jumps. Is it still not relearned. Or would a new throttle body position sensor fix it?
I just cleaned my throttle body of my 2003 GMC Yukon and turn on the truck after I was done and it turned on and then turn it off and turn it back on I repeated this step about 3 times and everything seemed working fine so I turn off my truck and went inside my house. 30 min later it was time to pick up my son so when I tryied turning the truck on it didn't do anything it doesn't crank or nothing ? Has anybody had the same problem or anybody nows what it could be?
So I cleaned my throttle body out and when I started my tahoe, it went to 2000rpms and climbed to 2500rpms. I don't have the fancy snap on computer but by sct scanner gave me the same code after 3 starts. Thoughts?
If you had a customer with P0121 and P0573 codes...would you let them leave and tell them it was not an issue? This happened to us and we almost died....ugh
Not that I know of. I’ve heard driving it but I’m not a big fan of that, because you can cause a wreck or damage the transmission. Just best to take it to a shop to get it calibrated
Hey Oz great Video...was wondering if you would know how to do the eng rpm relearn without the scanner you have...I only have the regular obd..am working on a 2011 chevy colorado 2.9
On the thumbnail I did put that this might need an idle relearn and I also do say that in the video and also perform an idle relearn on the video at the 6 min mark. Pretty much putting it out there
I had the same problem with my Yukon. I had the throttle body cleaned and instead of the RPM's going down they went up! Can anyone tell me what I did wrong ?
Same thing happened to me. 2007 Chevy just like this guy. RPMs went up. This sucks. Dude, edit your video before other people keep screwing up. My truck was running fine. All I wanted was a quick fix to the light coming on.
Read the description on my video. It explains that some vehicles my have excessive rpms after cleaning. Needs to be re learned using a a proper scan tool from a professional shop
I taken plastic apart on throttle position sensor and throttle pedal both have a real light layer of gold to conduct circuit of electric on mine throttle position sensor gold was wore Off at mid speed would it goes into limp mode replaced throttle sensor good to go what a joke chevy could be very dangerous should be recall mine only has 70000 miles
Thought this was a home do it yourself video. This is for diagnostic professionals. 2007 Chevy Silverado. Cleaned it exactly how shown and RPMs went up and stayed up. Now I read the replies and see that I need a scanned to relearn the throttle. Truck was running fine before, just wanted to engine light to quit coming on. This blows. Dude, edit your video so Joe Blows like me quit making an ass of ourselves.
I’m so fucken pissed he showed the relearn but didn’t say you were gonna have to do this. I thought that was part of the problem with that particular truck. I just another video that started with “stop don’t try this if you flying have a certain scanner” in the Beginning of the video!
@@BoBBy_Loko you don't need to have a scanner to do the idle relearn! I do several of these a week and I have the scan tool to do the relearn and never use it. Google Chevy truck idle relearn, if you are still having issues let me know and I'll tell you what to do.
@@OzMechanics I do have a OTC ODB unit, I am not a total backyard mechanic failure, I will give it a try, clear the code and see what happens. Calyforny smog is hitting it hard these days, thanks.
