In this video I am working on a 2013 Chevrolet Sonic that needs new front brakes, ball joints and a left front wheel bearing. It is one of those jobs I started to record then decided I shouldn't have! Time was slipping away from me this day. -Enjoy!

After doing way too many wheel bearings, one day I was teaching my teenage son how to do one. Everything came apart surprisingly easy for a NY car, and I was at the point of putting things back together. I quickly pressed the hub back into the bearing, then went to install the bearing in the knuckle, when I realized that I had pressed the hub into the bearing from the wrong side. Of course, at that point, it is all over but the crying. The solution was to hunt down an OEM bearing from a local dealership for more than twice what I had paid when I mail ordered mine (also OEM). In the end, I guess it was a successful job, as the son not only learned how to do the job, he also learned to always make sure that the machined side of the bearing housing is facing away from the hub so it will go into the knuckle :)

In the first week of the month of Purification didst our humble servant Eric cry out unto CRC, known as "Kleen" amongst the Picts, for mercy in the matter of sensor extraction. And at that time CRC heard the cry of Eric, and turned his face toward him so that what was born of Daewoo to torment men, came forth anon. There were revels in the land that day, the people feasting on fruitbats, otters and dingos. And Eric didst consecrate a gallon of ice cream and offer it unto CRC for the mercy shown to him. Thus was this day henceforth known as "Deliverance", for on it was the shitty sensor delivered into the hand of Eric without shattering into four pieces as the cursed spawn of Daewoo are want.

Indestructible , 40 miles per gallon going uphill facing a wind towing a AMC Pacer lol Neighbours went through 3 boys driving 100 miles round trip to the city doing university in a VOLKSWAGEN RABBIT DIESEL 4 speed 60 MPG and they never killed it ... Last I heard it's bringing in illegals from Mexico ... Lol Did the fuel/gas change ? Cuz it seems we cant attain that without batteries and prayers . Seems my 1977 GMC SIERRA CLASSIC 4x4 with a 350 4 barrel I got passed to me by my loving pops had the same wear and issues as my latest purchase a 2016 Dodge Crew Cab 1500 4x4 Ecodiesel... Canadian Monopoly money all said and done .... $68.000 bucks 😳 . I was 7 when he drove it home ( big improvement over the 65 International I guess) with mom in a new 4 door Le Sabre as well ... Guess what he paid ? $10500 for the truck and $5500 for the Buick ( that dam 305 always had a knock dad tried everything to help it). But it made it to Disney World and back ... Back in the day we farmed and milked about 60 cows . Moms gone Dads in a good home , my teaching sis just retired too . I'm getting older so love your modest honesty of you and the kids and your partner are awesome . Monkey and the football story haha I even heard the 1st lady in the back comment lol . Love the show , I don't think you need to mention brands cause I know you gotta watch you chirp about . But can you chirp more on design issues as well .... Best regards Paul

Do any of the auto manufacturers recommend changing the brake fluid? They used to.
@Blazer02LS
@Blazer02LS 5 лет назад
A very few still do. The catch in the salt belt is being able to get the bleeders loose. Usually after about 3 years they just break off unless someone has religiously kept them clean and free.
@JerseyMopar
@JerseyMopar 5 лет назад
Im not sure if they include brake fluid change at any service interval anymore. But what i will say is, if your brake fluid looks dark you should change it.
@johnferguson7235
@johnferguson7235 5 лет назад
We always replace the fluid on our Honda/Acura. The master cylinders last forever, if you change the fluid every three years. It also seems to keep the ABS in good shape.

The general rule was to flush the system every 2 years (same with coolant). I did both on my '07 Silverado at year 9, and nothing is damaged. It does live in a garage most of the time, though.

Can you imagine the looks on the faces of the Daewoo engineers when GM said they wanted to ship them to America? There would have be a look of glee and horror all at the same time. Glee for the $$$ they were going to make and horror for what is about to happen. They designed a car for the average Korean but ship it to America where we put on ridiculous numbers of miles per year, are nominally 100 pounds heavier than the average Korean and apply copious amounts of liquid salt to our roads during the winter. Then there is New York where they seem to think salt brine is the cure for the common cold so they apply it to the dirt roads during the summer just for some added flavor in your morning coffee ... commute. I am so buying a Toyota next time. If Toyota ever builds a reliable 3/4 or 1 ton I"m all over that stuff.

The chlorinated stuff is pretty nasty too. Made the mistake of lighting chlorinated carb cleaner on fire to kill a bee, it smelled like death and I ran outside immediately. Later found out it decomposes into phosgene gas (what they used during WWI in the trenches)
