Great video! Most other guys talk about themselves for at least 10 minutes before getting to the point. You turned an otherwise 20 minute video into less than 5.
I am now a transmission expert, I will now do all of my own transmission work myself, I will no longer pay extremely high prices for transmission work!!! I now have the utube~
Excellent Video. Just what I was looking for. I have a GMC Jimmy 4x4 that is leaking from the torque converter cover. You just showed me how to ensure that I fix BOTH potential leaks at one time. I DON'T want to pull this thing apart TWICE!
OH MAN!! thanks so much. a little too late i found your vid. man i took the valve body out and 5 ball bearings fell AND NOW I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE THEY GOOOO!!!
Very good video I appreciate the help we need more videos like this I have the same problem I thought it was the main seal but it was the big ring seal around the pump
Ty for the video. Hopefully it helps me later today when I pull my trans pump and see what’s wrong with it. Incorrectly installed TC and…yeah……2 crunches and TC doesn’t spin freely after reseating. 😭 😑 atleast I do have old trans and old TC I could use for parts tho.
Question: Why can't the pump come out without removing the adaptor on the valve assembly and the torque converter selenoid?? How do they hold the pump from coming out? Thank you for the video! It is exactly what I was looking for!
That's great because now I know that I don't have to remove the valve body on my dads 4L60E transmission which he bought second hand to replace the transmission in his 2000 model Holden Commodore which had nothing wrong with it except having 370,960 kilometres on the transmission & was afraid it would fail. The Buick L36 V6 engine was replaced also with that many kilometres on it only because it consumed oil due to leaky gaskets & seals (not due to worn rings) & has exhaust valve recession on cylinder number 2's exhaust valve due to the valve head overheating when running on propane gas. When he tried to fit the transmission,he broke one of the lugs off the Bell housing & when we swapped the Bell housings over then fitted the transmission to the motor, then fitted the whole drivetrain into the car, the car had no drive in forward or reverse gear.So I'm afraid that the pump rotor smashed due to misalignment, maybe the torque converter wasn't seated in the pump housing properly !!!!So I'll repair the broken oil pump & fit it into the replaced transmission,I will also get the Bell housing welded up & fit it onto the outgoing unit, providing the donor transmissions housing doesn't have any cracks in it.The outgoing engine will likely be resealed & another cylinder head fitted,so waste not, want not,I'm really sick of such people never listening to me -I'll sell that !!!!
HELLO I LIKE YOUR VIDEO, I LEARN ALOT, I HAVE A 1998 CHEVY SILVERRADO PICKUP. IT HAS A 4L60E TRANSMISSION THE TRANSMISSION CHANGES GEAR FINE, BUT NOW I HAVE A LITTLE WHINNING NOISE AND I HAD IT CHECK, THEY SAID IT WAS MY PUMP GOING TO THE BAD. I DON'T WANT TO MESS UP MY TRANSMISSION. SO I WANT TO INSTAL A NEW PUMP IN IT. WILL INEED TO REPLACE NEW SEAL AND BEARING, ANYTHING ELSE. PLEASE LET ME KNOW THANK YOU VERY MUCH...
well, my truck didn't have that solenoid at all that you had to remove. It is just an empty hole... lol am I missing something? I have the one on the right, though...
