Lubacote Mobile Quick Lube Takes about 4 hours with experience and all the parts prepped and ready to go. Everything cleaned.......all parts ordered and sitting in front of you. This does include putting in all new bushings and adding a shift kit as well as measuring the clutch pack clearance.....which is important.

Well all these videos I’ve been watching are very spot on but now I’m hoping that I won’t have to go through all that with my P1810 code. I’ve dropped my pan waiting on the valve to come in. All the seals were broken and three of the five pressure plates don’t click. The name of the part is probably wrong so I mentioned the code. I have purchased a transfer case from Monster and it’s going great. The motor is a 5.3 in this 2003 Silverado

Unfortunately, Dexron VI won’t keep the sunshell from failing. When you switched from III to VI, did you notice that you could smell the new fluid after parking your car? I noticed a definite transmission oil smell like it was coming out of the vent maybe. No leaks.

Good video and good info. I have a 1994 Chevy Caprice 9C1. Have problems with the transmission shifting from 3rd gear to overdrive on the highway. This happens all the time. A lot of times I feather the pedal to keep her in 3rd gear at 45mph to 60mph.
@BNforever2009

I have a shift kit already in the transmission, would that hurt the 4L60E ? I would like a good shift kit in her, have stock 350hp 350 LT1. I only added headers to her.
@MonsterTransmission
@MonsterTransmission 6 лет назад
If it is going in and out of 4th gear it could be low on fluid and or there could be a stuck valve in valve body. The 4th gear servo Teflon ring could be worn out or damaged. If its the servo it could also have a worn out band. The first thing to check would be the band clearance see if its too loose.

If you look at that input drum that holds all the clutch packs. The input drum has the long input shaft coming out of the front of it. This input shaft is pressed Into that drum. However: where it is pressed in, can leak and cause a loss of pressure to the 3-4 clutch pack. Sonnax sells a kit to reinforce the drum and input shaft to hold it in there better. The part of the sonnax kit that makes it not leak is the fact that green loctite is used when the input shaft is pressed Into the drum. The green loctite is what seals it back up and many of these leak. Yours is probably leaking....there is more info on this so look it up. Bottom line. If you are rebuilding this or fixing your 3-4 clutch pack problem. Take the input shaft out of the 3-4 drum and loctite it back in there. Should take care of that problem. Changing the trans fluid every 60k will help increase the life of the transmission. Get a updated pan for cheap with a Drain plug to help with this. Makes life easier. Next.......for $20 you can add so much life to this trans. He talked about the 3-4 apply seal hardening. This is caused by heat. Your trans run through the factory trans cooler at the radiator and sometimes has a factory external trans cooler in the heavier trucks, but it usually does not have an Xtra trans cooler. You want an aftermarket trans cooler in there........AFTER the radiator trans cooler. Why after? Because the transmission will be at whatever the thermostat is on the radiator. If you’re engine thermostat is 190° or higher. Your trans will be 190° or higher. We don’t want that. We want 170° So.....you still keep your original trans cooler at the radiator. You keep that and run both the original and the aftermarket after it This will make the trans run cooler and cool it back down to below what the engine thermostat is. It’s needs to be run after the radiator cooler on the fluid return back to the transmission. Any cooler will help. Sonnax makes the best sun shell replacement and has a long list of other parts to keep this transmission alive. If you have a 700r4 or a 4l60e or any other transmission for that matter. Sonnax usually has upgrade parts to make it last longer. With the 4l60e.......sonnax has ......a lot of upgrade parts. By the time your done. 1/4 of the parts would be sonnax parts. Either way.......run a better cooler

Thank you for the great additional information Jack. Not trying to jump on your comment to advertise but to make it easier for anyone interested, here are some links to parts we offer that can also help. You can upgrade the input drum and shaft for performance applications with this billet part: www.monstertransmission.com/4L60E-4L65E-4L70E-Smart-Tech-Input-Housing-Kit-with-Heavy-Duty-300mm-Input-Shaft_p_11538.html#.Xo85cohKiUk You can use Burn Rubber Brewing Universal ATF to help take the guess work out of what fluid to use, we also recommend changing the filter when you do the fluid. We offer a whole kit here: www.monstertransmission.com/Monster-Transmission-Complete-Service-Kit-1-ATF-Kooler-Kleen-Conditioner-Filter-Pan-Gasket-Oil-Drain-Pan_p_18507.html#.Xo86cIhKiUk And a link to the pan with a drain plug: www.monstertransmission.com/4L65E-700R4-4L60-4L60E-Chrome-Pan-82-06_p_6556.html#.Xo87KIhKiUk The number one enemy to a transmission is overheating! An external cooler is one of the best additions to extend the life of your transmission. www.monstertransmission.com/Hayden-Transmission-Cooler-Kit-12-12-x-7-12-x-34_p_4893.html#.Xo85EIhKibg Thank you Jack for this very informative comment!
