It is so easy to change out the cabin air filter in this car. By doing that you will save a lot of money. Chevy wanted 89.95 to change the cabin air filter. Check the description for a link to get the cabin air filter for just a little over 16 dollars.
That’s good to know Dom I didn’t know that about the Chevy Volt and it didn’t take you that long and for a couple of bucks that’s well worth the time thank you for sharing sir 🤙🏼
@@josekarell5932 Yes super easy and you save a lot f mo. It's the Chevy Bolt not Volt. The Volt is a Hybrid Plugin that has 60 miles all electric range and a gas tank. Bolt is all electric.
Thank you Dominic for the excellent explanation of how to change the filter and showing the maintenance schedule. You've saved me enough to take my wife out for a nice dinner! As opposed to my last IC car, I love this maintenance schedule.
@@evgrandpa365 with the brand new battery as of December 2021in our 2019 Bolt, i went ahead and bought the car at the end of the lease for 22K. I still think it's a good car for the price.
About that air filter: on the other side, towards the hood, the air intake is a wide (like over a foot wide) plenum open unimpeded. I had mice climb up into the motor attracted by the warmth of the charging battery, they soon found that plenum and proceeded to chew my cabin air filter into nesting material. Once the filter was perforated they slipped into the cabin through the vents and died of dehydration. I had that plenum made inaccessible with metal mesh (some call it hardware cloth) epoxy glued in place. You’ll need to temporarily lift the windshield wiper motor out of the way to do this. Worth it to avoid breathing mouse poop dust.
I've watched several videos that show this procedure but this was the best so far that shows how easy it really is. It is a crime what the dealerships charge for what is a 5-minute job.
Thank you. I'm not a big fan of dealerships!! Thats what I love about the Chevy Bolt. Everything is easy!!! Subscribe to the channel. I have more coming.
I enjoy your channel, but want to mention that there is a far easier way to change the filter without needing to use pliers that may damage the plastic rod. You simply need to push inward the top of the glove box and it will disconnect at the top. It is far easier, less risk, and faster than doing it the way that was shown in this video. Best wishes!
@@scirica Sorry, I don't have a video, though I remember finding one on RU-vid that showed the proper way to change the filter. It's really easy. Keep looking on RU-vid or try what I said by opening the glove box and pressing on the end inward at the top where it's connected. Good luck!
@@Kimmer Careful about disconnecting the damper piston at the top. I did this in my 2020 Bolt, and when I did it for the second time, the damper piston. fell off. Took it to a Chevy dealer right before the 36,000 mile warranty expired ( not the dealer from whom I purchased the car ) and they said that I abused the part - no warranty coverage. They estimated that replacing the whole box would cost over $3,000 !!!. I called Chevy, and they told me to get a second opinion. Careful, as the top plastic hook is flimsy.
@@jamescorrigan7999 Agreed. If done the proper way without pliers like I described, there is no way to damage it. It's a very simple fix, but several RU-vidrs are showing the wrong way.
From 2017 until last Fall I did my tire rotation myself at the change of season, where I live I need two sets of tires. Then last Fall something felt funky with the brakes. I hardly ever use the brakes because the Bolt has strong regen. I ended up having to replace not just the pads but the rotors so badly corroded. What I did not know was that I should have serviced the brakes with each tire rotation, clean and lube, not using the brakes turns out to not be good for them and resulted in a more expensive fix than just new pads to replace worn ones.
My wife and I loved the Bolt. Great car. Not the best for long distance travel due to slow charging speeds. But best ev for the money for around town driving and commutes of 200 miles round trip or less.
Our Model 3 Tesla is difficult as well. Bolt spoiled us. I always wondered why GM never made the Volt all electric. That is a nice looking car. Definitely a great seller for GM too.
Good shit Dom!! I’m still waiting until they get a little more range from the Tesla’s and improve some of their quality control before I get one. Electric is definitely the vehicle of the future though. ~ Jared 👍🏾
Thank You. Quality is good now. The first year model 3 was bad and they had some issues with the initial Y roll out. They will fix anything that isn't right. Mine was flawless on delivery. Let me know when you get ready. Use my referral code and we will both get 1,000 miles free supercharging.
The new one was carbon activated hence the black tint to it, good video as this is so simple and easy to do and they overcharge the hell out of it at the dealership...wish everybody would know this!
At the beginning of the battery issue I chose to apply for the buy back. Chevy bought back my Bolt. I think I responded to a letter that I received from GM.
Agreed. I think if GM would have converted the Volt to all electric with 275 to 300 miles range it would have outsold the Bolt big time. Just some minor engineering tweeks. Lmmfao
Great video, I got my new chevorlet bolt EUV 2023, Here in CA we got $15,000 combined tax credit from state and federal, I am consistently getting 320 miles per charge.
Yes but GM is buying back the Bolt as a result of the recall. We are looking at the new Bolts. Probably wait till 2023 Bolt comes out and get one of those for the wife. I just wish they improve the fast charging speed to at least 100 kw.
@@randyschiffer3265 the battery recall/fire risk. I just requested a buy back. The euv is nice. You get more leg room in back seats. We are looking at Bolt ev lt2. Going to wait for 2023 model.
