I bought a 2020 Chevy Bolt Lt at North Park Chevrolet located in Castroville, Texas for $21,999 minus $500 for military service. The seats don't bother me as much because my first car was a 1989 ford festiva and the first thing I operated in the military was an M901 TOW armored track vehicle, followed by the M966 TOW armored HUMVEE. Yes I did sleep in both while doing training and combat missions in the Army. Oh yes, I still watch your videos. Thanks for posting.
We just bought a 2020 Bolt Premier. Having for only four days I can say it is a fun, fast and quiet car. The seats feel fine to me so far but then I prefer a firm mattress too.
I have a 2019 Chevy bolt, and I love driving this car. I love everything about it except for the seats, so I took it to a auto interior upholstery shop and they added padding to the seats without changing the look of the seats and made it 1000 times more comfortable !
Good pros and cons of the new car. $21k plus added fuel savings is a win. Didn’t know the car took much longer to charge on road trips. Looking forward to more content!
If you can charge where you live or work, then the charging speed doesn’t matter for most of the miles that you drive. Assuming that you leave on a day trip with a nearly full battery, any year of this car can give you about 200 or more miles on a warmer day before you need to charge. Charging for 45 minutes - perhaps while you take in some lunch - adds more than 100 miles of range, and the charging event basically hasn’t cost you any time - if you tend to stop for lunch when you’re traveling. How many days per year do you drive more than 300 miles? If you do it lots, then this car may not be for you. This is a car for all of those other days, which means a lot of them over the course of a year for the average driver.
Great review. I can't believe chevy hasn't done something about the seats... it is the most common complaint. An after-market company would most certainly clean up if they offered a direct replacement alternative.
Yeah, it's super dumb. If you're using Bluetooth or USB music playing, it defaults to radio/satellite radio the next time you turn on the car. The workaround to not be surprised by it (or blown away by potentially loud volume on that source) is to set the radio to SiriusXM channel 0, which is silent (no subscription required for this). It will remember the radio station on boot... but not the source. Ugh.
Well from someone who has owned 2 cars with on board Nav systems, they are not all they are not all that great. 1. Keeping up to date is expensive (150/yr) 2. No traffic condition warnings. Android Auto allows Google maps (updated free) and Traffic condition alerts , I have not seen a better on board Nav system.
i agree, it doesnt work well. i had a hyundai elantra and all the tech just worked better in the elantra. it kept you in the lane smoothly for about a half mile, the bolt bumps you back in the lane one time and pushes you out on the other side of the lane and then basically useless after that. the elantra blind spot monitor would give you a beeping sound when you turned on your blinker if someone was in your blind spot, the bolt makes no sound warning, bluetooth worked better on the hyundai also. i still think the bolt is a great little car, i just think gm needs to up their game on the tech. you just cant beat these cars when you can get them for 22-25k. a replacement battery pack will cost you 10-15k by itself. i paid 25k for the 2020 premier. my biggest complaints, tech needs work, no adaptive cruise control, hwy speeds of 70mph or higher really hurts range and thats in good weather, really bad in harsh weather. not a hwy car, not horrible but wish it was quieter and a softer cushier ride. and last, its a gm product, i had a really hard time with buying this after gm took millions of american tax dollars for a bailout then shut down many plants and started building in other countries. i only purchased the bolt because it was, by far, the best value for your money on an ev.
Does anyone know how to check the battery state of health for a 2022 Chevy Bolt? For example with the Nissan Leaf yo can get a much more accurate estimate of the battery's degradation using the 3rd party LEAf Spy set up, but there appears to be nothing exactly like it for the Chevy Bolt ? I see 2022 Chevy Bolt's for like the 16,000 range with 80,000 miles on them now, but I worry about how much of those miles were done with DC Fast Charging and migh have heavier battery degradation, ? Is there a way to check how much of a Bolt battery was done with DC Fast Charging?
My Bolt has Navigation/Directions under the OnStar menu option. I don't pay for OnStar, so not sure what it does. Do you? If so, would love to know what it does if you give it a try.
I tried to use it just now and you and it was too bothersome to even try to finish my test. What a waste! I plug in my iphone and open maps and it works perfectly.
Come on my second one I had a 2017 I traded it in for a 2022 I never had a problem with the 2017 other than all the batteries were replaced but that was under warranty I never had a problem with the battery it was just something Chevy did as far as the seats goes it's a very easy to fix problem if the seats bother you I have one inch foam padding covered by leather seat covers and that solved the problem total cost $42 and a 2022 model the only thing I don't care for is the steering wheel the bottom of it is octagon but I'm getting used to it no more 40 50 bucks a week for gas no more oil changes which are very expensive now I charged the car after 6:00 p.m. low kilowatt cost same thing on Saturday and Sunday low rates I don't think it cost me more than $5 a month to charge this of course I am in Niagara Falls New York right next to a major power plant I don't know but I'll tell you this I'd never go back to gas unless the price drastically dropped and that would take a miracle yes Chevy did their homework thank you for reading
Unless Wireless Android Auto/Apple Carplay is a deal breaker for you, I'd probably just go with the '21 for less. I've never found having to plug in my phone to be a bother, but that's just me.
I got a 2023 Bolt and it’s a LEMON Im not kidding we got a “Purpulsion power reduced” thing on the dash and we have a rental KIA EV6 and it’s been with Chevy trying to fix it for like a month so we are not really happy about it so we may just get equinox EV
The seats have actually grown on me and since I only use it around town the level 2 charger at home as been enough. I would not feel comfortable taking a long trip with it yet.
