In this 44th video from Classic Car ChitChat, you will get to see a beautiful 1974 Chevy Caprice Classic Convertible. This car is one of the finest examples of Classic Cars and especially when it is found just tucked away in a garage. Whether you are a fan of the Chevy Engine, Exhaust or Wagon this Classic Car is the go-to car for car lovers to customize and convert them into low riders, rat rods or hot rods too. This Classic Chevy checks off all the boxes and even has a working power roof! The car has an engine bay that will surprise you but the colour alone will bring back fond memories of Classic Chevy’s from the past.
In case you are keeping Track this is Episode 44 of Classic Car ChitChat Videos!
I hope my Classic Car ChitChat video’s make you smile. I do them in my spare time because I truly love cars and my intentions are simply to honour the beautiful cars I get to see and to really understand the passion and love of the vehicle by the driver (or caretaker as Jay Leno would say) of the car. I also understand too that my videos perhaps lack the polish calibre of great RU-vidrs like: Doug DeMuro, Scotty Kilmer, and of course my favourite Supercar Blondie. I also know that I can’t even come close the quality & finish you get from the likes of Jeremy Clarkson and the boys at Top Gear. I think they use a little fancier equipment than my little iPhone… LOL
Mission Statement:
My Objective through creating these videos is to shine the spotlight on people who love their vehicles whether it be a car, motorcycle, or even a bicycle…. Bottom line is if it has wheels and you love it then let’s show that passion to the world!
Equipment Used:
Camera - Just an iPhone SE (Nothing fancy - which proves anyone can use whatever you have handy to make a video… you don’t need really expensive equipment)
Gimbal - DJI OM4 - For that ultra-smooth cinematic look. (To be honest... still not quite sure how to use it but one day I will figure it out!)
Audio - Rode Wireless GO II (I gotta be honest… this is really the biggest investment that was made… I wish there was a cheaper option but after the first couple of videos I soon realized that audio quality is important and hopefully better than the onboard mic on the iPhone!

If you have read this far, then I thank you. As always, I truly appreciate your “thumbs-up”, and by leaving your comments it demonstrates to me that I managed to get you involved and hopefully made you smile. Most importantly when you subscribe to my channel then you are truly acknowledging my effort to help share with others like you my passion and love for “all things that have wheels” and honouring the people who take care of them.
Thank You
Kevin

Holy moly. Had to click when I saw this car on the thumbnail. I spent my teen years driving our family 1974 Caprice Classic convertible in that color. It was ordered in 1973 by my dad. It had a white top, no pinstripes, 454 ci engine, it had A/C and had those vents with A/C and that passenger-side dash look (that dash is in great condition), didn't come with a right-hand mirror, had GM gear-style wire wheel hubcaps, and the steering wheel was dark brown like the dash. I loved that car, but it was a lot to handle.

Andrew, it looks like this video brought back some fond memories. Frank is a lover of classic cars and this is another in his amazing collection. I also wanted to take a moment to personally thank for taking the time to watching my videos, leaving a comment and for subscribing to my channel I truly appreciate it. My intention when creating these videos is to showcase not only the beautiful car but give the owner an opportunity to share their story, love and passion for their car. Thanks again Kevin.

Great car and an owner with his priorities, an ashtray and working lighter. Absolutely have to have the lighter. Back in the day I would get in, turn the ignition, push the cigarette lighter, buckle up the seat belt, light up and take off.

Brad, i had to laugh. That is Frank in a nutshell. His criteria is the bigger the better and if it doesn’t have an ashtray.. he’s not interested LOL

An ashtray and lighter or just as important as a seat belt. However I'd want a car that had shoulder belts. As a teenager in the mid 70s I had my grandfather's 1970 Buick Electra to drive. I was that rare teenager that buckled up both the lap and shoulder belts when I drove. Fast forward to 1982 and coming home one weekend from college and a drunk driver in a Chevrolet suburban crossed the center line and hit me head on. Because of the size of the car and the fact that I was wearing both the lap and shoulder belts in the collision I walked away with only bruises from the belts which was far better than the unbelted drunk driver.

Rene.. totally agree with you. By far the most beautiful car design out there that has stood the test of time too.

Karon, that sounds amazing and the car certainly as a convertible is even more beautiful. If you live in the Toronto area I would love to film it. I also wanted to take a moment to personally thank for taking the time to watching my videos, leaving a comment and for subscribing to my channel I truly appreciate it. My intention when creating these videos is to showcase not only the beautiful car but give the owner an opportunity to share their story, love and passion for their car. Thanks again Kevin.

the wire wheels with the white walls, my dads 95 caprice overseas had that same wheel setup and it pains me to see other caprice classics of that year not run that setup 😂. Dad wasn't much of a car guy though so when I picked up my 94 Impala 20 years later his reaction was why the heck would you get the same old car

71-76 Caprice/Impala, "Donks", is the same car. The 75 was the last year of the convertible. All Caprices were Classics 73-76. The 2bbl 400 engine had 152hp.😂 The AC vent on the passenger side is under the glove compartment. Steering wheel should match dash and steering column. So it should be black. You can get parts for pretty much any GM car from 1955 to 1970. Because of the smog engines there was no following for these cars. Extremely hard to find interior and trim parts. Noticed the rear corner bumper fillers are gone. They are very hard to find. That body is in much worse shape than you may think. Nice that it is being restored. There is a growing following of the 71-76 Caprice/Impalas because of the Donk movement. Good original Coupes and convertibles sell for 30-60k now. It will for sure go up in price. I have a 73 coupe and 75 convertible that I enjoy a lot.
