Dude! Thank you for this! I seriously saved over $400 by watching this so I could replace my hazard switch myself rather than pay a shop!! Hell to the yeah!!!
I did the same thing. The hazards switch got stuck and I couldn't get the lights to turn off. I kept pushing on the switch and pushed the whole thing inside the dashboard. Fortunately that was the push that got the lights to turn off. Fished the wires out and had to make a half assed contraption with a SPST rocker switch before I had working hazard lights again as the original switch was ruined.
+maintuning I just did that right now to mine. I took the cover of the button and slid an internal piece to turn off my hazards. It's still dangling down the dash. But at this point the button will be non functioning. How did you attach the rocker switch to it?
My wife’s wedding ring fell down the vent in her car. I guess that’s a price you pay when you set stuff on the dashboard. I got a endoscope android camera. I can see the ring on the camera but can’t get to it. Your video is going to be a big help when I pull it apart.
Thanks man, last year my ex threw the diamond ring I gave her at the dash when we broke up. I heard it fall down in the dash area like a plinko chip, so I'll be trying to find it sometime soon.

All you have to do is lift up your arm rest, pop the piece around the ebrake off that is held on with tabs, then pop the piece off around the shift knob and your cup holders should pop out as well. use a flat head to help pry the pieces.
Love the video. My 2008 Cobalt S, is approaching 300.000 miles; not one issue, not a dime in repairs. However, I created an issue when my blower for air & heat, stopped working. I took apart everything, removing bender door & actuators, finding out it was a wide to blower switch was loose. A lot of time went by due to a shoulder replacement, now I forgot how to/ where to re-install? Any video of help? I can't stand to pay the shop a large amount $! Thank you
can you please make a video on how to fix blend door, I have a 2008 cobalt ls my heat don't work I had the thermostat changed and flushed the core but still nothing I think it's the blend door please please help me
Should've also removed the steering wheel. Especially if you're thinking of fiber glassing and or refinishing the dash. Btw disconnect the negative terminal of battery so the airbags dont deploy.. A lil static and your neck is gone.

My emergency light button crapped out on me tonight with them just stuck on. Quick question, I only have to get the left half unscrewed to get to it and remove the RPM shell, not the whole disassembly right?
They should be pretty simple and basic. They can only go back into each other the same way they went in. Are you talking about the light dimmer or those metal clips?
I believe I dropped my camera's SD card down the vents of that defroster/heater up top (by the center of the windshield). I see now how to get the dash off, but any advice as to what to do next?
Has your air bag deployed because mine I get it where all the teeth are up an out but inside under the lid it's like a plastic thing connected to the lid an airbag area??
please help!!!!! the panel you removed in 2:30, there are two cable inside of it and after i removed the cable to get painting, i CAN'T resemble them back. I just forgot how these two cable placed on panel. Could you tell me how to put them together??? thx!
So the plastic over the airbag seems to be attached to the airbag container itself...the recall on the airbags apparently was taken care of before I bought the car but this is making me think that maybe it wasn’t? If anyone has any clue I’d really appreciate it!
You should be able to pry the rubber plastic part up and pop it up and have a look but if you dont feel safe to do it have the dealership do it or someone you know that is good with cars.
ObiJ3ff hey thanks for the reply! The rubber plastic part only comes up at the edges and after that it’s actually attached to the piece that the airbag is sitting in, so it won’t come up. Super disappointed because I was about to have a beautiful interior! But yeah, I think I will take it to the dealer just to make sure everything’s okay :3
Ya it hinged from the back like a binder its a pain in the ass to remove unless you disconnect the battery from the car before attempting the removal of it.
Hey.. thanks for the video. My dash lights is fused and i cant see the speedometer at night for speed and fuel gauge so driving is challenging right now without knowing speed in dark. Hey bud, my grand daughter lost her grandmothers eternity ring down the long dash board vent, the windshield defogger vent, on our cobalt. Any advice on how to retrieve it?
Wheezer MacDonald If it's metal at all I would tie a magnet to a string and get it out that way. The other option I'd try is go fishing with a paper clip and string. All those vent hoses go deep into the dashboard. I will investigate.
Alright bud. The ring is made of gold so I don't think a magnet would work. I will absolutely try the paper clip suggestion. Question: If an item goes down the vent, the one that's across the top of the dash, is it true that it will always end up inside a hose? I mean, I hope that doesn't sound like a stupid question. It's just that I took apart the casing around the gear shift hoping for a miracle. It allowed me to get to an area on the floor beneath the dashboard directly in the middle of the vent above. There were wires there and a box of some sort. I don't know a lot about cars, eh? Of course, I didn't find the ring there. So, I guess my question is, is there any point in me looking anywhere but inside air vent hoses? The ring is very important to my grand daughter. I gave it to my wife on our 25th anniversary. I lost her three years ago and the ring was passed on to my grand daughter so it holds a special place in my grand daughters heart. I promised her that "Grampy" (that's me) would find a way to retrieve it. Just hoping in the end I don't have to pay a lot of dough for a professional to take everything apart. I would ask a professional to find out if it goes to a hose or a vent of some kind to possible retrieve the ring. Another option would to find someone with a snake camera to see where the ring could be.
My window seal is popping out around the plastic vent uneven. I can't tell if it's removed in your video. It looks like yours has a window seal there but it looks different than mine. Is your window seal removed here?.
Was looking at mine today. It does slide on and there are also staples holding it on from the factory. 2 of those staples came undone and that's why my seal was popping up on the one side. I ordered a new trim piece and I'll see if I can installed it. I would rather not remove my whole dash cover but might have to.
