we finish the swap and the truck runs amazing, we made a few mistakes and share them with you so you don't make the same mistakes.
transmission pan hits the front driveshaft
Colorado i5 doesn't have a return fuel line
ls engines have a steam port, this is NOT a PCV hose

Loving the videos! Just bolted up my 5.3 in today! FYI for anyone dealing with fuel systems - the first years of Colorados do have a return fuel line. From I believe 04-08 there are 3 lines going to the tank: fuel, fuel return, and evap. When they started selling the 5.3 options in 09 they got rid of the return line. If anyone is doing a swap in an older model truck, you can get a C5 corvette fuel pressure regulator that will turn the 2 fuel lines into one.

Soo the only thing you had to do with wiring, to get the engine to run, was a push button start? I am about to start my build and I am cheap, so I'll be doing most of it myself

No it had to be tuned and the entire harness was modified, chevy does not make it easy

what kind of wiring did you do? i know they built a fuse block for it im thinking of doing it but dont know what wires ill need to keep

we modified the engine harness from the donor truck, the fuse box was what was needed in order to support the engine running

we decided to use an ODBII bluetooth dongle and an Android device for our gauge cluster.

Thank you for posting. May I ask for your advice? I've been interested in putting a 4.3 v6 engine into a 2011 Colorado. May I ask if the process to swap engines is the same?

I think if you want all factory gauges you will either need to spend a ton of time on wiring or buy a premade harness setup

Did you end up keeping AC or do away with it? Also did the transfer case buttons work for the 4x4?

No A/C, Buttons appeared to work, but no front driveshaft was installed

Do you think if i use the complete harness from the ls i could eliminate some of the wiring problems i have the fuse box the computer and going to have to use some of the other harness for the transfer case and the tranny.. ive seen a video where they used the original computer for the dash and the pedal and ignition to work they made them coincide I’m at the wiring stage finally so just trying to plan ahead and buy the hoses lines and whatever else without surprises lol thanks for all the help its been a ride thus far not to many vids on doing these appreciate y’all for taking the time to do what you’ve done by sharing the process.

@@jeremiahrunyon9855 I think combining the two computers where you can would be a great option, we should have either changed the dash to the truck dash the ls come from or spent more time on the wiring to make sure the gauges would work, we did use the factory truck wires for the transmission and transfercase. for a gas pedal since our LS was cable we used a gas pedal from an S10 snd that worked really good.
